Former President George W. Bush is getting a presidential library and think tank - a public policy center dedicated to his principles - at Southern Methodist University in Texas
And now former Vice President Dick Cheney has a center, too: The Cheney International Center at the University of Wyoming.
Cheney and wife Lynn, who donated $3.4 million for the support of foreign students and scholarships for Wyoming students studying abroad and $3 million for the building, appeared at a dedication today.
Several dozen protesters gathered at the Laramie event, where Cheney received a standing ovation as well as shouts from protesters of the Iraq war and the harsh interrogation tactics authorized by the Bush administration.
The Cheneys' funding for the 20,000-square foot Cheney International Center, located at the former Student Health Service Building, was matched by the state.
.
"It's very gratifying to us to see this wonderful facility and to know about the many projects Wyoming students are going to be undertaking around the world," Cheney said.
"Enhancing international programs has been on our agenda for years," UW President Tom Buchanan said. "But the Cheneys have taken our vision and given it the momentum it deserves. ''

Where are those war protestors when Obama speaks anywhere? Maybe you haven't looked, but American trooopers are still dying in Obama's expanded Afghan war. Funny how the left only agonizes over a war when there is a Republican involved.

I knew there was something to be liked about Wyoming. Just didn't know til now what it was. Here I thought it was all horses, only to find out it's down-to-earth horse sense. Quite unlike that horse patootie that Cheney's critics pedal.

Putting the words "think-tank" and "Republican" in the same sentence is the very definition of an oxymoron.
Next summer I'm going to take my dogs out to Shrub Jr's and The Dick Cheney's "think-tanks" and let them drop their loads on the grounds.

"Not a former Republican": Really? Will we able to tell their loads apart from you? I suspect, however, you wouldn't have the guts to try that either in Texas or Wyoming. Much easier to sound tough from your living room.

Lil' Ricky,
Aren't you supposed to be out telling health care lies for your lobbyist group today!
NO SOUP FOR YOU!

@ Rick Caird,
Oooooooh, I'm really scared of the fake GOoPer toughguys in Texas and Wyoming.....not!
If they're anything like Bush Jr and Darth are then they're nothing more than chicken-hawk draft dodgers.

I don't know former Republican, Dick Cheney shoots his friends in the face, and then makes them apologize for inconveniencing him. I can't imagine what he'd do to someone who let their dog go on his lawn, if that's how he treats the people he likes..

"not a former Republican": Uh, Bush flew fighter aircraft in the Texas Guard and volunteered, as Mary Mappes and Rather knew, for Vietnam.
You probably aren't old enough to know how the draft and deferments actually worked in the 60's. I'd tell you, but I really don't think you are interested.

Nice try Lil' Ricky,
Your hero Shrub Jr dodged the draft by getting Papa Bush to put him in a homebound national guard unit, and the dry drunk didn't even show up for that duty half the time.
Hey Ricky, how much does a health care lobbyist like you get paid to spread lies about health care reform? I bet you're rolling in the dough, right?....Who care about all those schlubs who can't afford health care coverage, they can have a job fighting the next war Republicans start! Right goofball?

OK MORON, all of those war protesters are still protesting the illegal war in Iraq that your buddy Bush started based on LIES! Had Bush stuck to his promise and concentrated on Afghanistan maybe, just maybe we would have caught Bin Laden as he promised 8 years ago on this sad day of rememberance!!!

I guess VPs acting as presidents believe they are entitled to a presidential library too. And, he has been doing a stand up job on talk shows supporting his legacy. Where will his portrait go?

What the Harding? The bigger the mess the longer it takes to clean it up! Remember the Republicans never do anything for this nation, they only do things to this nation! whiteagle38

I attended the Cheney International Center dedication and feel compelled to set the record straight regarding the article above. It is true approximate 30 protesters were present, what they didn’t say was, approximately half were demonstrating in support of the former Vice President.
In a private luncheon held after the dedication, VP Cheney responded to a question about the various Presidents he served. His response was to the effect that, “Presidents define the times, but rather are defined by the time they serve.”
President Bush and Vice President Cheney came to office with an aggressive domestic agenda. That all changed on 9/11. Since that time, under their leadership, America never again felt the pain of a terrorist attack on our soil. Pretty damn good job if you ask me.
