Payback is fundraising.
The Republicans have tapped a potentially powerful fundraising tool in Rep. Joe Wilson, the South Carolinian who accused the president of lying about his health-care plans. Wilson apologized to the White House, but not to the House, which in turn admonished him for his behavior.
The GOP has not only President Barack Obama and his health-care plans, but also House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in its cross-hairs with a fundraising appeal in Wilson's name.
Democrat Paul Begala takes note in his own fundraising appeal for his party: "'You Lie!' That was one Republican Congressclown's response to President Obama's call for action on health insurance reform. Classy. But now the very liars who heckled President Obama for calling them out are raising millions of dollars off of their rude, dishonest attack.''
"There has been a lot of debate on what is true in the debate over government-run healthcare,'' Wilson writes in a fundraising email circulated by the National Republican Congressional Committee. "But Democrats continue to spin and mislead the public in an attempt to stifle honest and open debate about what this bill will do, what it will cost and how it will change your healthcare.
"To remedy this, my Republican colleagues have introduced legislation requiring Nancy Pelosi to post all major legislation online for a minimum of 72 hours before it can be brought to a vote,'' he writes. "While this seems like common sense, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny. This means, you as a taxpaying citizen, cannot read the legislation before your representatives vote on it. ''
And this is what taxpayers can do about it, Wilson suggests: Follow the link in his email to the GOP "to support the NRCC and return the people's House to you.''
Consider this Wilson's own resolution of disapproval.
"Imagine what would happen if Nancy Pelosi is required to post the Democrats' healthcare bill online for public scrutiny,'' Wilson writes. "If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction. The level of discourse would most certainly rise due to such transparency - a concept promised by Democrats on the 2008 campaign trail.
"It's up to us to hold the Democrats accountable and that's why I'm turning to you for your immediate help. We have an important fundraising deadline approaching at the end of the month where the money raised by the Republicans will be compared to the money raised by the Democrats to determine our strength going into next fall's elections. If we can raise more money than the Democrats, we'll send a message to Pelosi, Obama, and their friends that the American people are firmly behind the Republicans in opposition to government-run healthcare.''
This is from Begala's fundraising appeal:
""You Lie!" That was one Republican Congressclown's response to President Obama's call for action on health insurance reform.
Classy.
But now the very liars who heckled President Obama for calling them out are raising millions of dollars off of their rude, dishonest attack - and they're even claiming victory in the media for it!
They understand that this is the make or break month for health insurance reform. There's only four more days left to act. We're $531,161 shy of beating them by passing our million dollar goal.
September 30th marks an important deadline where the amount of money Democrats have in the bank will be a judgment on President Obama's support of health care. ''

More gimmickry from the Republican-Libertarian fringe. Wilson wants transparency, but where was it when his narrow-minded fringe had control of The House? Did Getrich offer it ? Did Livingston suggest it? Did Delay champion it !!? Not one of those retarded Republicans championed transparency, until President Obama enters our White House. Then, lo and behold, they are mouthing transparency, fair debate and all of the other elements of democracy. I guess they can now go out and post that banner again: " Mission Accomplished ". Again, the banner is trying to fool the voters. Not this time, boys and girls, your lying isn't going anywhere, this time !! You had your chance and you dug a crater for America and President Obama and Vice-President Biden will get us out of that hole, which the Bush&Cheney fringe's legacy has left America !! Stop with the gimmicks and discuss the issues, if the Republican-Linbertarian Party can. You have done America a great disservice, first, with the election of the incompetent Bush&Cheney, not once, but twice, and second with your assault upon America, at the behest of the bloodsucking Corporations !! I hope, in the coming months, all of you will come to your right minds, for the sake of our great country, America.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

1. Was it any less "common sense" when the Republicants ran the House and the rest of the Federal Government? The system of internet tubes was installed at least a dozen years ago.
2. It shows remarkable restraint by this fool to not refer to the "Democrat Party" in his statement. That's usually the intellectual apex of any statement by a Republican office holder.
3. I say go: let's post it all.

You are off your rocker Don. Without a shred of truth in your comments, very much the opposite, you always rock your ranting and raving stance against BUSH? Do you ever take what's happening in today's world and digest it without the BUSH salt and vinegar of hate? BUSH GONE - OBAMA DA MAN NOW!
Today's Congress, not the Congress of three years ago of which you rant, has not followed through on the Obama campaign promise of transparency. Can there ever be a spark of intelligence in your tiny brain? Get in the here and now donny boy.
You distort a complete and accurate account of TODAY"S events and consitantly turn them into eight years of Bush blather, what a sad sack of *%#! you truely are.
Now, back to the actual story as reported about Pelosi and her band of thugs who refuse to provide TRANSPARENCY as promised! Her response and that of her thug minions was this, The American people couldn't understand the language of the proposed legislation, therefore, it would be silly to post it on the internet for their consumption, review and comments.
Gee Donny boy, you may not have the 6th grade education needed to read legislation but the rest of the American public can certainly read.
SUPPORT TRANSPARENCY, BRING IT TO THE PUBLIC AS PROMISED, TRUTHFUL AND WHOLE. NOW.
Now, there's a rant for ya Don!

If you go to WhiteHouse.org you can read all sorts of stuff on health care reform.
All I know, is that it's benefits enrollment time at my company. Employees are now required to answer about our health history for the insurance company or we will be charged $300 more per month. I question why I have to disclose my medical history to my insurance company - God knows the only reason they want this information is to deny claims or point out pre-existing conditions that they will refuse to cover. The company has taken away medical resources and the employees will be charged even more for even less coverage in 2010.
This just can't continue. At this rate what will our children have as "insurance"/medical care? It's too expensive, it's too complicated - stop believing anyone who tells you that American has a good health care system. Ours is one of the worst. So much waste. We must have reform! Something has to change - and don't tell me it's going to be more expensive. It continues to get more expensive every single year... that argument just doesn't fly... I am happy to pay more if I get more... PERIOD.

A related item from the Washigtom Examiner:
"A proposal by Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., that would have required the Senate Finance Committee to post the final language of the $900 billion health care reform bill, as well as a Congressional Budget Office cost analysis, on the committee’s website for 72 hours prior to a vote was rejected 12-11.
Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., was the only Democrat to side with Bunning. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, who is not a member of the Finance Committee, said she also supported Bunning’s proposal.
Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., himself admitted that “This probably sounds a little crazy to some people that we are voting on something before we have seen legislative language.” Indeed.
Baucus’ excuse - that it would take his committee staff two weeks to post the bill online – sounds a little crazy too. "
The nerve of those Republicans! Actually asking that people have time to read the bill they vote on!

I think the Republicans actually have a good idea here. Posting the legislation will enable the public to judge for themselves which party's spin about the bills is most accurate. And when the Republicans next retake control of Congress, which they inevitabley will do given our government's see-saw power changes, under their own rules they won't be able to "rush major legislation to a vote" - the very thing they accuse the Democrats of doing.

Joe Wilson was rude and suffered the consequences.
This is common sense legislation that should be adopted.
The failure of Congress to allow the media and the public to review what they propose is not right.
Rushing legislation to the floor at 2:00 AM and demanding a vote is not transparency and leads to corruption. This is when earmarks are hidden in bills and many times this is when our elected public officials get themselves caught up in the legal system.
Nancy Pelosi should embrace this legislation and pass it into law.

We haven't heard yet from Nancy about those violent, leftist protesters in Pittsburgh so near POTUS.
I'm sure she has some crocodile tears and stories of fearful memories to share with us. I'm sure she'll be making a public statement soon. Right?

Apparently Wilson and his Republican cohorts are also pushing a bill to make Pelosi and co. keep any bill related to health care, online for 30 days. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/12043618/Bill-to-Force-House-to-Put-Any-Major-Healthcare-Bill-Online-for-30-Days
Call me a pessimist, but I feel like this has nothing to do with transparency and everything to do with putting the brakes on health care reform, which now seems imminent.
There's also the fact that HR3200 was online for weeks and people still believed there was a provision in it about killing old people.

Stay Classy REPUBLICANS!
It's looking like some Glenn Beckian Teabaggers murdered a census worker in Kentucky on.....9/12.
The Republican party is not only shrinking, it's becoming violently fascist on the way down.

The Wingnuts lost the last election because they tanked our economy by giving tax cuts to the richest 1%, starting two wars (one of them, Iraq, based on lies), torturing and committing war crimes in our name.
There was no mistake made, the Repug party was told to go pound sand by the American people. And now they're acting like crazy stalkers who can't handle rejection.

If the Republicans ever pull the wool over the eyes of the American public again and get someone into the White House, they had better not try to trade on "the dignity of the office" and "respect for the Commander in Chief." We've already seen what they REALLY think of the presidency.
Here's the real reason behind Joe "the heckler" Wilson's outburst during Pres Obama's speech to Congress.

Here we go again with the petulant children who make up the "leadership" of the Republican party crying and accusing Democrats of not doing something.....that they themselves didn't do when they were the majority.
Save the tears Wingnuts, no one cares.

Hey Dusty Springfield,
It's not our fault that you Wingnutters can't count or spell.
Sounds like that home schooling program that mommy ran for you failed miserably.
While the rest of us out here in the real world were learning Science and Math etc, you Wingnut cretins were being taught about how Jesus rode a dinosaur and how the Earth is flat.

The Left doesn't want the public to read the ObamaCare bill. The Left doesn't even want Dem senators to read the bill. Just vote for it.
What are they afraid of?????

The comments psoted here seem as if they are representative, for the most part, as if from some very immature children.
I hope that adults are not responsible for these comments. If so, then America is much worse off than I had first thought.
