Obama's praises: All the schoolkids sang: The Swamp
The Swamp
Chicago Tribune

It was the posting of the video on YouTube that brought a school apology.

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

"Barack Hussein Obama,'' the New Jersey schoolchildren sang with glee. "Mmmm... mmmm... mmmm.''

"Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you,'' they chimed. "He said that all must lend a hand, to make this country strong again.''

As if the president hadn't generated enough controversy with his back-to-school television address to schoolchildren earlier this month - it was the Department of Education's later-retracted suggestions for lesson plans asking kids how they could help the president that rubbed people the wrong way - a videotape is making the rounds of the Internet, and uh, FOX News, picturing the coaching of schoolkids singing the president's praises.

The tape was made earlier this year.

But now the superintendent of schools in Burlington Township, N.J., has circulated a letter to families about the tape made at B. Bernice Young School: "Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the Internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama.

" he activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country,'' superintendent Christopher Manno writes. "Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.''

Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin has reported that the video was posted by Charisse Carney-Nunes, a Washington D.C. author who wrote a children's book titled I Am Barack Obama. Carney-Nunes is senior vice president of The Jamestown Project and "a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a schoolmate of President Obama."

The school district's homepage has posted an explanation, too, but it was a little difficult to retrieve today.

In case the kids are looking for some new songs, here they are:

Song 1:
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama

Song 2:
Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!"

Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!

Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country's economy number one again!

Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you!
And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!

So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick
So here's a hearty hip-hooray ----

Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!

can you imagine a song about george bush? This is another example of the left indoctrinating the most vulnerable members of our society - and it figures that a bunch of women would be behind it. I've heard all about Carney-Nunes and none of it is good. She really does like getting them when they are young and impressionable, doesn't she?

Reminds me of how teachers in Argentina made their students sing the praises of Juan and Evita ....

The horror....."A" class of children on Black history week sing a song on Obama. But we will hear the rabid spin this into brain washing by the administration itself. They will continue to teach hate for Americans that don't see their political ideals. They will continue to call them the "Feds" and whip the mindless into a fury until someone is killed. Oops...to late. Beck and Bachmann tell the parrots that census workers will haul them off to an internment camp....and what do you know......they kill one. Who would have thunk it? Huh? Right wingers killing off Americans one at a time. Bravo guys.

Remember when a National GOP candidate for Chairman circulated copies of "Barack the Magic Negro" CDs to gather support for his chairmanship bid. The GOP, upon this news being reported did not apologize for fear of offending their crucial Nazi, KKK, xenophobe voting bloc.

simplythetruth,
Not only that, it's looking like some Glenn Beckian Teabaggers murdered a census worker in Kentucky on.....9/12.

The Republican party is not only shrinking, it's becoming violently fascist on the way down.

bill r... wow- wher to begin.

The video is creepy and manipulative...
Schools- Please just teach my kids math, science and to be able to read and write - you know, get them ready for college. - they do not need you and your agenda to help them learn how to hero worship the messiah in chief.

To your nonsensical rant about the murder of the census worker... at least your consistent- you can't overcome on a rational level the argument so you choose to see racism and hate whenever a view opposing yours appears ( or in this case is conjured up by yourself)

My guess is that if they actually figure out the circumstances of "A" ( using your construction) murder of "A" census worker to be other than a "rabid" right wing person you will be disappointed. What will you do if he was murdered by black people, or by an illegal immigrant... will you be as equally myopic and prejudiced about what motivated them to kill? The truth is that you coudn't care less about the victim-your language is typical liberal use of victims to further your dim view of right vs wrong.

In Rexburg, Idaho, Rex Rammell joked about giving out hunting tags for Barack Obama, children on a bus were chanting "assassinate Obama" and a local mother refused to let her child go to school to see Obama's speech.

Why do the repukes detest education?

Yeah......except the kids in Argentina were MADE to do it, these kids just love their President.

More creepiness from another Obamabot acolyte... So you believe the kids "love" Obama?
Really? These kids were not given the words to sing? They weren't told when and how to sing? Even if you agree with Obama do you "love" your president and are you ok with kids "loving" their president?

When exactly did you lose your mind?

So violence and hatred is the "rational" Repug response to losing?

In order to have a rational conversation with someone, both sides have to be sane. The Repug team that you cheer lead for is not even close to being sane.

This teacher should be fired immediately. This is disgusting. Our kids cannot sing the pledge of allegiance, cannot sing Christmas carrolls but we have to subject these poor children to the exact torture Adolf Hitler has done to his youth. HELLO OUT THERE. IS THIS REALLY OKAY WITH YOU.

Quite frankly I don't believe you would know truth if it bit you, least of all the truth of how I feel about any Americans death. I can say that it seems quite evident that choose not to see or condemn the hate and fear these right wing commentators are whipping up in the public. I guess it serves your political leaning at the moment. Might I ask what in post was about race? Oh I see hate....I would think a dead man with Fed scratched on his chest might indicate hate. This has become the same as the extremists in Islam, and until the moderates denounce it...it will grow worse. My guess it is only the begining. By the way...use of victims? Something screams Iraq to me.

The murder was a disgusting abomination. I rebuke it! I condemn it! I denounce it with all my energies! Why haven't you done the same?

How can we teach the Afghanis and Iraqis to love each other when we spew such vitriol??? How about winning in America before we try to win over the world?

very scary...and creepy...i would pull my child out of that school so quick..theres some odd occurences going on people...be careful and be true to your beliefs....

One more step toward Obama' socalism.
Wake up America before its too late.

Why the Fox News mention? Because they are the only media outlet that would show this pathetic indocrination of kids for our Dear Leader, while the rest of them, the Tribune included, prop up everything Obama says as gospel? I can just imagine the outrage the same liberals, like Silva, would be spewing if some school in Texas had kids praising George W. like this. Such pathetic hypocrites, but so so typical.

Posted by: heartburn | September 24, 2009 5:31 PM

So its kind of like being forced to stand and say the Plege of Aligence in class right? I mean, no kid knows the owrds they are given to them right? So what is it Heartburn? Is it ok ot make kids do this but its not ok for them to sing a song about their president?? WHats wrong with you people?!?!

This is right out of the nutty Right Wing Lunatic Fringes playbook (Drudge, Malkin etc).

If it were not for obnoxious, overbearing, Wingnuts intimidating families and co-workers the Repukelicans would not have a party at all. And they know this, just listen to their mega-millionnaire turd tossers like Rush Blimpbaugh and Faux Noise Channel.

Ok, now, lets hail, sing songs and praise to the dictator, Obama.

Obama, the self proclaimed dictator, is what he fancies himself to be.

Get it straight America, is this what you want? Can't you think for yourself and stand up for what's right?

Yawn.....more fake outrage from the Repugs....

Wingnuts have no nadir because they have no level at all. The Right is defined by being in a perpetual state of moral and intellectual freefall, always straining toward some ultimate perfection of evil.

The main problem is that the Whackjobs on the Right do not want children to look up to this President (Obama) as a hero. There's two reasons for this, they're embarrassed about Shrub Jr, and Obama is a Democrat and he's a BLACK man.

The Sacred Heart poll, released today, shows that 89% of the individuals polled believe that the main-stream-media helped get Obama elected President!

It only confirms what many Americans know that the media is in the tank for Obama and is not an impartial reporter of the facts.

This story made http://detentionslip.org ! Check it out for all the crazy headlines from our schools and more controversial Obama news.

What happened to the pledge of allegiance? Star Spangled Banner. Who is the staff person that followed this path? Disipline should be levied.

He who forgets historty, tends to repeat it

"He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future."

Glad to see our tax dollars at work? Would like to have seen the left's reaction if they had sang something praising President Bush? Then again, would have to find and union teacher to go along with that.

Really? Are you kidding?

It never ceases to amaze me the lack of intellectual honesty and integrity that is so prevalent within the ranks of the left. Every time someone raises an objection regarding our President, it is automatically responded with a charge of racism.

It is interesting that as time passes, all the concerns about this President’s associations that were written off as “guilt by association” are being proven as valid and true. So the only recourse of the left is to smear all with the racist paint brush in order to squelch debate. I am sure had Hillary won, we would be talking about how sexist we all are.

I remember the Carter administration, and many of the same failed policies we are seeing this administration try to pass were attempted back then. Certainly our foreign policy is vintage Jimmy Carter. So when he lost by a landslide of epic proportions to Ronald Reagan was their race involved? No, but policy was the issue, like it is now.

Which brings me to this idiotic attempt at indoctrination of little kindergarten kids. To suggest that these children had a choice to participate or not is beyond laughable, anyone that would suggest that those children could just opt out as opposed to past indoctrinations at the hands of the Perones, Castro, Mao and Hitler in plain idiotic.

The height of hubris comes from Superintendent Christopher Manno who protested that the video was unauthorized and this was done as a part of “Black History Month”. Therefore, I am sure that they can produce similar musical compositions lauding the accomplishments of Supreme Court Justice Thomas, Condi Rice, Michael Steele and Colin Powell. Probably not, because those are not truly black.

The truth is that these little ditties were composed by Ms. Charisse Carney-Nunes, more famously known for her book “I am Barack Obama”. Ms. Carney-Nunes is a former classmate of Pres. Obama, is very astutely cashing in on her past associations with Pres. Obama, offering her book and indoctrination services to serve up the Kool Aide for the young little children who have the misfortune of attending a public school controlled by fellow travelers and useful idiots.

In the end, what I am wondering is why all the sudden, the issue is how racist people are when by Bill Cosby’s own statement only 10%-12% of people in this country are the ones that would not vote for Pres. Obama because he is black. Wouldn’t it be more valid to discuss those that Voted for Pres. Obama Because he is black, alleged republican Colin Powell among them.

These are Kindergartners, so defending the teacher's actions is pretty pathetic. We don't need this kind of stuff in the classroom ..and Especially at this level. They're still babies for crying out loud. They should be finger-painting and learning the alphabet.

Cant we let them grow up a bit before we ask them to fight this destructive fight alongside us?

That said, I really don't see this as some type of evil left-wing conspiracy. I truly believe this was independent stupidity.

Scot, stating the pledge of allegiance is not the same as a bunch of kids singing praises to the Left's God, Obama. This kind of act is what takes place in countries like North Korea, Iran, Libya, Venezuela, China.
Of course, if these school children were singing praises to Bush or Reagan, Mark Silva and the rest of the corrupt, deranged left would be having catatonic fits, and rightly so. But since it's Obama, well that is OK!
And, simply the truth, the Barack the Magic Negro came from a liberal Los Angeles Times columnist. The song was created to be a satire of that column and the Left's sick messianic view of Obama.

There's another song teachers could force their students to sing. From the musical Evita:
"A new Argentina, the chains of the masses untied,
A new Argentina, the voice of the people,
Cannot be denied

[Eva:]
There is only one man who can lead any workers' regime,
He lives for your problems, he shares your ideals and your dream,
He supports you, for he loves you,
Understands you, is one of you,
If not, how could he love me?

[Workers:]
A new Argentina, the workers' battle song,
A new Argentina, the voice of the people,
Rings out loud and long...
[All:]
A new Argentina, a new age about to begin,
A new Argentina, we face the world together,
And no dissent within"

Hope and Change.....

“Umm, Umm, Umm, Barack Hussein Obama:” The Song

Isn’t it just great hearing kids sing? I mean, there’s nothing like innocent, young voices joined in chorus singing their lil hearts out, is there?

Well, yes there is, when their sweet voices are being directed and joined together in an elementary school as part of an orchestrated attempt to indoctrinate the kidlets via song to praise of Barack Hussein Obama.

That, in fact, is part of the refrain being taught them in at least one school: “Umm, Umm, Umm, Barack Hussein Obama!” Hear it for yourself here on YouTube, http://bit.ly/18dCgk.

The 2 boys on the right in that video would have been better served by a lesson teaching them how to overcome their ADHD rather than participating in this brainwashing session.

Funny, I can’t recall any other president being the subject of a school song, but maybe I missed “Umm, Umm, Umm, George Dubya Bush,” although I can imagine “Umm, Umm, Umm, Great Joe Stalin ” being a popular ditty in the Gulag.

“The Barack Song” is all part of this administration’s pattern of indoctrinating America’s youth according to the precepts of anarchist, Saul Alinsky, and is even a facet of Obamacare.

Chuck Norris points out in a TownHall.com article that brainwashing youngsters is one of the many “dirty little secrets” secreted in Obamacare: “Obamacare is about the government’s coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care and development.

“It’s outlined in sections 440 and 1904 of the House bill (Page 838), under the heading ‘home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children.’

“The programs . . . would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills: ‘well-trained and competent staff’ would ‘provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor domains . . . modeling, consulting, and coaching on parenting practices.’ ” (http://bit.ly/2kNxUe.

Well, isn’t that just peachy!

Hillary previously set the stage for this development with her ghost-written tome, It Takes a Village . . .

A lot of people on the right are stupidly talking about how this is an example of indoctrination. This is typical of their demagoguery and lies.

With that being said, I think this was a horrible idea and felt extremely uncomfortable watching it. Especially, using his middle name. It just sounded awful.

LOL! 90% of the leftists on this blog have run out of their medication. Either that or they don't have any YET. Do you actually read the wacky comments you write? Geez, get a grip, or see you doctor while you still can that is...Obamacare is coming with the same workers and efficency as your local DMV, enjoy.

Another example of the Far Left Wing pushing their own agenda. But now it is brainwashing the youth of America to their way of thinking. If this had been done about a Republican President all hell would have broken out with the Main Stream Media, the Far Left Liberals and Crazies, and the Keith Olbermann's of the world.

So what is it Heartburn? Is it ok ot make kids do this but its not ok for them to sing a song about their president?? WHats wrong with you people?!?!

Posted by: Scot S. Blakeley | September 24, 2009 6:40 PM

Scot- Yes it is ok to tell kids to stand up and say the pledge of allegiance (...to the flag, and to the republic for which it stands...) it is not ok to tell them to sing a song praising Obama ( the man)...

you figure out why one is ok and not the other- I am not going to do your thinking for you.

The murder was a disgusting abomination. I rebuke it! I condemn it! I denounce it with all my energies! Why haven't you done the same?

Posted by: Spencer | September 24, 2009 5:53 PM

Spencer- how do you know I haven't -and what does this have to do with what we are talking about...? This issue is related to the 8 year old kids, in a tax payer funded school being told to sing a song praising a man- based on the teachers subjective view of the man's policies only.

So - for fun- if it is ok to tell our kids who they can love or praise, is it also ok for schools to start telling are kids who to hate? Many good people completely disagree with Obama's policies- given this logic - What would be wrong with teaching the kids to sing a song about hating Palin, Gingrich or Glenn Beck? Who completely disagree with what the kids are singing about.

If it makes you feel better... The murder was a disgusting abomination. I rebuke it! I condemn it! I denounce it with all my energies!

Feel better?

Really? These kids were not given the words to sing? They weren't told when and how to sing? Even if you agree with Obama do you "love" your president and are you ok with kids "loving" their president?

Posted by: heartburn | September 24, 2009 5:31 PM

Right, no kids should EVER be taught to LOVE any of their fellow human beings. What are these schools thinkiing?

Are you saying you "can't" love someone just because you disagree with policies. Christ demanded that we "love our enemies". I'm not sure what problem you have with teaching love.

But, really, if the kids were given the lyrics to "Pride In The Name Love" by U2, you would probably consider it a black nationalist, commie song, for teaching kids about Martin Luther King Jr.

Posted by: Delores Aguilara | September 24, 2009 6:51 PM

Self proclaimed "dictator"? As opposed to the "decider guy"? Who trampled on our civil rights with his fascist secrecy for the previous 8 years.

Get serious!!!

I find it amazing that a big political tempest in a tea pot was brought to our conscientiousness when Cincinnati talk show host Bill Cunningham had the audacity to use the candidate Obama’s Full name Barack Hussein Obama. This was viewed by the “main stream media” and political pundits as an affront to then Sen. Obama. Even then presidential candidate Sen. McCain repudiated its use.

Fast forward to today and now we hear songs of indoctrination singing the praises of Barack Hussein Obama. This is what I do not get. Aside from the obvious hypocrisy, of these little minuets lauding the presidential accomplishments of Pres. Barack Hussein Obama, this took place last February 2009 for “black history month”. That means that our newly elected and sworn in president was in office between 11 to a maximum of 39 days this being well below the usual benchmark of the first 100 days typically used to measure early presidential effectiveness
.

So what should we be lauding and celebrating at such an early juncture of Pres. Obama’s first term back in February 2009? Perhaps we should be celebrating the electoral process or how far the US has come concerning race having elected out first black president? Of course, not, that would imply logic in this entire mess.

Instead, let us view this for exactly what it is indoctrination pure and simple. There is no other explanation that fits. We as a country are being forced fed the Kool Aid that Pres. Obama is a messianic figure sent to us to fix all of our county’s wrongs. Despite the short time in office, we are to take it on faith that only good things are yet to come by merely electing him president. No need to wait for the validation that comes from a track record of accomplishment, after all, he wreaks of HOPE as the Venezuelan Dictator Hugo Chavez told us in his epistle to the UN.

There is absolutely no one that can seriously justify the obvious exploitation of innocent little children that have ZERO clue what they are spewing on command by their adult handlers. This is absolutely shameful and despicable in every regard. This is especially true since parents were not informed of this idiotic Kool Aid fest. This school system is fortunate that I do not have a child in this school having been forced to participate in the Obama youth rally. What scares me is, how many times was this repeated during the entire month of February 2009? How many other schools across this nation had similar Obama youth rallies? This was the only one immortalized and committed to the record with video. Even potentially scarier yet, what is next, teaching our children to spy on us and report anti-Obama activities? Maybe report on how many evil incandescent light bulbs we are still using or better yet, how many hours we might spend listening to talk radio or watching the evil Fox News Network as our buddy Hugo Chavez warned us about. This is clearly a wake up call to parents across the nation to become involved and engaged in their children’s education.

Time to overhaul our education system. It's a CRISIS.
These political hacks the pose as teachers need to be weeded out.
I just hope the republicans hit the ground running in 2012.
Songs about the president to teach the children (it'll be fun watching the democrats scream, won't it) , ignoring laws to support their own party, goverment funded organizations to commit voter fraud on their behalf, and eliminating all the socialist programs started under democrats. We are no longer united, it's a war and it's a shame that it's turned out this way. Democracies are temporary in nature, the democrats are a perfect example of why!

Honestly, have you read the lyrics, its all about patriotism and equality, how is this wrong? I thought it was adorable and actually brought tears to my eyes. Wasn't it Bush who tried to force patriotism down our throats by saying that anyone who questioned him or his policies would be a terrorist and could potentially be wiretapped by the patriot act? All you republicans were fine with that? But here you have a few school children singing about equality and love for the utopian ideals of their country and this is considered indoctrination and that the president is therefore a dictator? I know fear comes before change, i just hope that your fears don't stand in the way of improving this country.

Remove the video of the children, please, for their sake and safety.

Right, no kids should EVER be taught to LOVE any of their fellow human beings. What are these schools thinkiing?

Posted by: syj | September 25, 2009 11:15 AM

The operative word her is taught vs. told...teaching respect, love, and goodwill are fine. Telling 8 year olds to praise Obama because he will "...make this country's economy number one again..." is nonsense, and frankly, a little dogmatic given the US economy is already the "number one" economy and that Obama's policies are (arguably) not going to improve anything. Your assuming that because you agree with someone’s policies it is ok to teach kids – that you have influence over-to sing praises about them.
Your reference to the U2 song is way off base... the song is not advocating loving MLK, the song is referring to and praising MLKs beliefs, and the ironic tragedy of his murder given his beliefs…IMHO.

School children are taught to sing songs praising Kim Jung-Il, they also sang songs praising Stalin, they were also taught to sing songs praising Mao Tse-tsung. Wake up people.

I think it's possible that during Black History Month (yes, it's a month, not a week), Obama was a big topic of discussion. I also think a video to send to the first black president could have been an idea of the kids. Did you read the lyrics? I think it's quite possible the kids wrote the words with little help. I think this, like a lot of other things, has been blown way out of proportion. I remember writing letters to the president and to troops in grade school. This doesn't seem any farther out of range than that.

"Fellow traveler"? Isn't that vintage McCarthy-speak for "commie sympathizer"? Oh yes that's 'erudite', no doubt. You sound like some senile John Bircher whose been hiding in a bunker since 1959.

What is the name of the disease infecting the teacher who thought it was appropriate for these students to be signing the praises of Obumbles? Oh yeah, they call that disease liberalism.

Never mind the math, science, reading and writing pedagogy, these students need more multi-culturalism.

DOPES!

Mr. Jeff Pitcher,

Funny you should mention 1959 since my parents are from Cuba. That is also the year my uncle and grandfather were imprisoned by the Castro regime without charge without trial and just as arbitrarily released in poor health. In 1965, my future mother, grandmother grandfather came to the US, my grandfather subsequently died only 4 days after setting foot on free soil. Since I was born in 1968, I cannot speak to the bunker mentality you speak of and likewise, I am in full possession of my mental faculties despite your feeble attempt at a slight. Chances are you do not know enough about Communism to qualify as a fellow traveler; unfortunately, that only leaves the category of useful idiot.

Calling it "indoctrination" is quite disingenious. The use of that word implies the administration actually had something to do with this.

This was nothing more than a single teacher, trying to muscially verbalize the historical signifcance of the first man of color being elected president, during black history month.

To read any more into it is ridiculous.

It was a clumsy effort, and I agree perhaps the teacher should have thought better of it. But it is innocuous.

I sincerely hope that Illinois voters send back to our U.S. Senate, Senator Burris. He has earned a chance to be elected to the position, especially if you look at the other clowns that are running for state-wide office. He would be the only shining example of a self-made politician, not one beholding to anyone, especially the present incompetent cabal that is running things !! In the Land of Lincoln, how more appropriate can we get, but to re-elect another African-American, to be one of our Senators !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Even if the child's parents object to the pledges' religious nature? Tell congress to restore the pledge to its' original wording. Without "Under God". That phrase was only added around 1950 as a knee-jerk reaction to the "red scare", "godless communism", and the despicable witch hunt tactics of Joe McCarthy.

The "Pledge" was doing just fine for over 50 years without "under God". Does that mean atheists (and I am NOT one of them) cannot be good Americans? Besides, I thought the whole idea of the United States is that you can't be required to pledge or submit to any particular point of view.

FITZ,

I'm with you on that one - let's hope Burris runs so he can his Blago appointed butt kicked.

Never mind the math, science, reading and writing pedagogy, these students need more multi-culturalism.

So are you Cherokee, Cheyenne, or Seminole?

O, please don't worry.

WASP History Month is coming up.

We're already working on a little song about the Bush Dynasty.....

"Don't cry for me, Kennybunqueporte..."

But seriously---

This whole clip has a sort of made up "Faux" quality about it......

What do those kids in Idaho sing on the bus?

fire this teacher..

Can kids sing about our president please. Relaxxxx they will forget the the song by the time they go home and start playing their x box. Good lord indoctrination give me a break. Manipulative? Seriously? Can we get more extreme and dramatic? I don't think so. They're singing about our first black president during black history month.
