The FOX News Channel is not only the most-watched cable TV news channel. It's also the most ideological, in the view of Americans surveyed on the subject.
Nearly half of Americans surveyed -- 47 percent -- say they think of FOX News as "mostly conservative,'' according to a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center.
Only 24 percent say they see FOX as neither conservative nor liberal.
At the same time, many view CNN and the three major broadcast TV networks as mostly liberal, yet about the same percentages say they are neither liberal nor conservative.
Somewhat more say MSNBC is mostly liberal -- 36 percent -- than those who say it is neither in particular -- 27 percent.
"The perceptions of those who regularly tune into these news networks are similar to those of the public,'' reports Andy Kohut, Pew Research Center president.
Nearly half (48 percent) of regular FOX viewers say the network is mostly conservative. About four-in-ten (41 percent) of the regular viewers of CNN describe the network as mostly liberal and 36 percent of regular MSNBC viewers say the same about that network.
Pew's latest News Interest Index survey, conducted Oct. 23-26 among 1,001 adults comes in the midst of a feud between the White House and FOX, with the White House likening FOX to an arm of the Republican Party, and FOX maintaining that it is a news network which also features opinionated commentators.
The feud has been good for business at FOX.
The Pew survey finds the public evenly split in its view of cable news hosts "having strong opinions about politics." About four-in-ten (42 percent) see this as a good thing, while an identical percentage sees it as a bad thing. See the full report.

In sum, Fox not as dangerous as previously purported by people (White House and Anita Dunn) out to "protect" the "mindless" public (who is perceived to be incapable of being able to "decide" for themselves what it is that they are watching) from Fox News (and themselves). High time Obama stops making the news the news, and starts making news himself. Lots on his plate... so much that 10 months in and you're already behind.

The GOP has turned into a circle jerk of misinformation, propaganda and out right lies - led by Mullah Rush and Fake News Channel.
If this doesn't scare Republicans I don't know what will - GOP Approval Ratings go down, Fox's Ratings go up.

I love the way the Faux News apologists are always excusing their partisan behavior by claiming that MSNBC is partisan too.
MSNBC gives right wing hack Joe Scarborough a full three hour show every single day, I don't see ANYTHING like that on Faux News - nothing, nada, zip.

Fox News was started by a Republican. Every thing about it was word smithed by Frank Luntz to find out what words could be used to get the moron Republican base to hear and hold onto that word.
Then they advertised their words/slogans over and over and over and over, I would bet at least 100 times a day.
If someone (Fox News) has tell you how honest they are you can bet they are not honest! Fox News repeats over and over that they are "fair and balanced". That says it all. They might as well have the word lie printed across the screen.
I never met a Republican that would not lie to suit whatever need he/she might have. It doesn't matter if the lie causes someones death or a whole countries death as long as he/she gets what he/she wants out of it, it's OK!
Republicanism is a mental illness

Considering The Swamp and the rest of the Obama media have been focusing on Fox, while censoring the news of how CNN et al. are biased, the poll results are no surprise.
This only shows that the Mainstream Media is even biased about how it covers--media bias.

America would be lost and smothered over by Obama if it wasn't for Fox.

Faux News in a nutshell.
-The Democratic-based pundit says: "I think 2+2 = 4".
-The Republican-pundit says: "No! 2+2 = 22."
-Then the Faux News Anchor says: The "truth" then, as usual, lies somewhere in the middle, so 2+2 = 13" and then Faux News Anchor cuts the Democratic pundits mic.
That is the result of Faux News' brand of "Fairness" & "Balance": a lie that leans toward Faux's interests and a truth that is ignored.

The polls also show that Americans don't trust reporters...But, more and more people are watching Fox News. Looks like bad news for the liberal MSM.
Just 4% Trust Reporters More Than Themselves on What's Good for America
Most voters trust themselves more than either Congress or President Obama when it comes to the economy, but they have way more confidence in themselves when it comes to the news media.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 85% of U.S. voters trust their own judgment more than the average reporter when it comes to the important issues affecting the nation. Only four percent (4%) trust the average reporter more. Eleven percent (11%) aren't sure.
Ninety percent (90%) or more of voters ages 40 to 64 trust themselves more than the average reporter.
In part, this is because just 23% of all voters say the average reporter is about the same as they are ideologically. Fifty-three percent (53%) think the average reporter is more liberal than they are, while 16% say more conservative.

Americans are not so stupid that they don't understand what's clearly laid out before them. Love it or hate it, FOX is anything but fair and balanced.

"Fox is not just not a conventional news organization like ABC News or the New York Times. It's not even a legit opinion journalism outfit, as many other have noted over the last few days. Pretending otherwise is no better than pretending your cousin doesn't have that drinking problem everyone in the family knows she has or telling people Corleone family businesses are all legit. Come to think of it, the really apt analogy is professional wrestling. It's entertainment. Lots of people like it. And to each his own. But it's not right to pretend it's a real sporting event, is it? It's just not right."

MSNBC will be like Fox News when Olbermann anchors its midday programming, and Fox gives its three-hour morning show to Phil Donahue.

Why don't you show us how the Swamp is "censoring" the news of how CNN et al. are biased - by using dates, times and you know, FACTS?
And no, you can't use Faux News and Druggy Rush etc as your sources.

This is just a suggestion for u democrats that are so troubled by the tawdry things that Fox seems to shine the light of truth on each and every day. Most TV sets come with an On/Off switch, a channel selector, a remote even. Find the instruction manual, learn how to use it, and watch something else. It is normally not that hard of a deal to pull off.
democrats are committed to controlling every aspect of our lives, and certainly that would include the news that we receive. There will always be those of us that are not going to be moved by the teachings of Lenin, Mao, Saul Alinsky, Van Jones, Anita Dunn, or some similarly re-constituted Bolshevik. I know that this is real important to u democrats, but it just ain’t happening. "Hope" and "Change"? Hell, that could be damn near anything. IF there were no Glenn Beck, no Bill O’Reilly, no Sean Hannity, no Greta Van Susteren, et.ux, I / we would still know that there is something very rotten in Denmark.
If it’s Big, and has Metal, OR lots of Plastic and LEDs, u really need to hold on to the instruction manual.

Well, Andrew in NY, MSNBC was started by a liberal as was CNN. So, your point?
Now, regarding perception, when most of the media says Fox News is conservative then some folks will believe so. Also, most libs and Dems will think so anyway. And will think so no matter what.
Compared to the other network and news outlets, Fox is more conservative, simply for the fact they treat conservatives with respect and present conservative commentators.

Yes, that's the same Max Cleland the GOP defeated in 2002 by running TV ads comparing him to Osama bin Laden (was that your idea, Mr. Gillespie?). Ann the Man claimed in her recent column that Cleland lost his limbs in a non-combat mission "where he was about to drink beer with friends." She goes on... "He saw a grenade on the ground and picked it up. He could have done that at Fort Dix"

Hey John E,
Are u caught up in a time-warp? All of this rigmarole happened in 2004. Not sure why u are bringing this up now. We are all sorry for what happened to Max Cleland in Viet Nam and certainly respect the sacrifice that he made, but the inconvenient truth is that it was not an in-combat casualty. Ann Coulter was only helping the democrats get the facts straight. She was not down with re-writing the story to help the anti-war democrats front him as a combat hero solely to win a senate seat in the Peach State in 2004.
Whether it is the dumb ladies on ‘The View’, exclusive Elizabeth Hasselbeck, or any where else she may be, Ann Coulter never seems to back down from democrats trying to take a dump at her expense. She’s great, isn’t she. John E, not sure, nor is there really any need to be sure, just what your point is.

Ann Coulter does not allow insolent democrats to take a dump on her at her expense.
Michelle Mailkin does not allow insolent democrats to take a dump on her at her expense.
Laura Ingraham does not allow insolent democrats to take a dump on her at her expense.
Liz Cheney does not allow insolent democrats to take a dump on her at her expense.

Makes sense considering that the majority of americans are conservative 40%, while only 20% are liberal acording to Gallup.
This thin skinned administration has just sunk to a new low. Not only do they attack any media outlet that won't parrot their propaganda (mainly Fox), they attacked Edmunds.com yesterday (an automobile website).

Fox "news" is not news at all. It's strictly opinion. And if you don't agree with what they consider fair and balanced, you are unpatriotic and stupid.
They and their lemmings live in a black-and-white, rigtt and extreme right world of the 50's--the 1850's.

Mark, could it be because most media folk such as yourself never comment on how liberal MSNBC is? Or perhaps even that most folks don't watch the network or never heard of it?

OK, they ID Fox as conservative. And they ID MSNBC as just stupid, or do you want to claim them lefitsts? You have one news channel that gives you a conservative and liberal view on the issues. Fox has more commentators giving BOTH sides of the issue than ALL the other so called news channels added together. I never see both sides represented on any other channel. If you can honestly tell me a channel that has liberals and true conservatives giving their views let us know. Otherwise watch Fox and then listen to the presidential Baby Huey..
