Glenn Beck: 'Winning in the ratings': The Swamp

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

It's like Rupert Murdoch says -- it's good for ratings.

This afternoon, FOX News' Website carried no fewer than three headlines about how it has come under attack from the Obama administration. And it promoted FOX commentator Glenn Beck's take this evening on the latest turn of the battle between FOX and the White House: administration official Anita Dunn's words about Obama controlling the media message.

Beck's own commercial standing has risen since an advertising boycott was initiated, targeting his show's sponsors after the commentator, appearing on FOX and Friends, called Obama 'a racist.'' And Beck's throw-weight among his own followers has bulked up since his attacks on Van Jones, a White House environmental adviser, resigned amid the controversy that Beck had stirred by repeating Jones' words about identifying once with communists.

Now Beck is on Anita Dunn's case, for telling some high-schoolers that "two of my favorite philosophers'' are Mao Zedong and Mother Teresa. Dunn, the White House communications director, also has served up some new fodder for Beck with remarks at a forum in January about how the Obama campaign controlled what media reported.

Beck opened his show this evening panning media reports that Dunn was joking, speaking in ironic terms -- and the video of her remarks certainly sound serious.

So Beck had three questions for his viewers today:

"Are the Mao jokes just as funny as the Hitler jokes?

"Does the press know they are being controlled by the White House?

"How many more warnings are left?''

How many videos are left, is the main question for Beck's campaign against the White House, the one which, as FOX boasts, is attackng the network. It only takes a sound bite to start a shooting war, a few words to fuel a feud, and Beck is replaying the old while playing the new in a continuing quest for ratings.

"One network is winning in the ratings,'' Beck said of his own. "When someone is winning, what do progressives do?.... level the playing field.''

The White House, while challenging FOX on its facts sometimes, maintains it's not all that worried about a news network which, as White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel puts it, is not really a news network.

"The way to look at it and the way we -- the president looks at it and we look at it -- (it) is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective,'' Emanuel said on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday. "And that's a different take. And more importantly does not have the CNNs and others in the world basically be led and following FOX, as if that -- what they're trying to do is a legitimate news organization in the sense of both sides and a sense of value (and) opinion. ''

'"Remember,'' Beck said today, 'they're controlling the message.''

But FOX has the ratings covered.

Glenn Beck is so transparently a scam to make Glenn Beck rich that I can't believe it's gotten this far. If it wasn't for the low IQ goobers who make up the Republican base, nutjobs like Beck, Druggy Rush and Hannity would be doing late night infomercials for a living right now.

He's incoherently ranting one minute, crying the next, he supports something one day, and denounced it the next, he decries... Glenn Beck on a regular basis as a joke and a clown.

Beck is going to get somebody killed before he finally falls from his gilded perch, that's what makes him so scary.

Any news outlet (Faux) that would feature Crazy Glenn Beck is not a news outlet, it's a comedy channel.

I wonder what Beck's next gimmick will be?

An hour long special on eating lead paint chips? 30 minutes of pro-paint chips people, and 30 minutes of anti-paint chips people?

Or maybe he'll discuss the pros and cons of putting your hand in the toaster. He can bring in Orly Taitz, foremost expert on hand-toaster interactions, and Michael Scheuer on how Obama's Hitleresque government is trying to take away your freedom to stick your hand in your toaster whenever you want.

Fox has gone so far away from being about news rather than propaganda, that comparing their ratings to CNN or MSNBC is apples and oranges. Might as well compare the Disney Channel to CNN and see whose ratings are higher.

Once one moves the comparisons away from "cable news", Fox News gets clobbered.

For example, Meet The Press and This Week clean the clocks of Fox News Sunday's ratings. Fox News Sunday appears, not on Fox News (until reruns later in the day), but on broadcast TV's Fox Network (which is a separate operation, whose programming often mocks conservatives and even has a history of being targeted by conservative boycotts (such as the boycott that tried to get Fox to dump Married With Children)). Therefore, Fox News Sunday competes against the broadcast network news shows and gets clobbered.

Also, the #1 news web site, in terms of visitors per month and video streams consumed per month is msnbc.com, followed by Yahoo news and CNN.com. FoxNews.com is well down in the rankings.

Faux news is and has always been the official propaganda organ of the Republican party.

The right wing dead-enders who watch their programming still believe that they represent the majority view and Faux will never tell them otherwise.

I'm not so sure that this is a fight that the White House should have picked & don't see it going anywhere soon. Anyone that is paying attention can see what their attempting to do with fox. As Glenn Beck has said, if CNN & any of the other News channels aren't going to back them up. It's only a matter of time until it's there turn. If that happens we will have a Government run news source. Ohh, the joy!

Dear Glenn BecKKK,

Please adjust your Lithium prescription!

Thank You,

The Real World.

Crazy Glenn is just itching to have a mental illness named after him before he dies.

Ratings of whom? Loser wing nut wack jobs? Sort of like being a big fish in very small (minded) cess pool of hate and filth...

I do not like Glen Beck and have never watched his program. I also think Russ Limbaugh is a blowheart.

On the other side of the spectrum I believe keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schwartz are as bad as Beck and Limbaugh.

But I do have concerns about the White House and their dealings with anyone who is critical of them. At times it appears to me that are acting like the Nixon White House with it's "enemies list"

It seems both sides like this little "war" thing. Fox News likes it becuase as Murdoch says, "it helps the ratings." The Obimbo shaministration likes it because it rallies the Worthless Far Left Loons around them.
The real shame, though, is that the other media are being controlled by the Obimbo shaministration. The rest of the media apparently wants and desires to be controlled by the White House. In many respects freedom of the press ceases to exist because the press is in the bag for the Democratic party and this administration.
If the Bush administration had declared war on MSNBC, the rest of the media would be hounding the Bush administration and going after it like there was no tomorrow. And rightly so in many respects. It's a shame that most media outlets no longer are free and no longer independent. Fox may tilt to the conservatives and Republicans, but it's nothing like the shilling that MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, NY Times, Chicago Tribune and most other outlets are doing for this administration. THAT is the real crime in all of this.

Crazy Glenn Beckkk pretends to kill frogs while his thug 9/12'er Teabagger minions are busy murdering census workers and shooting up Holocaust Museums....Sounds like something that could only happen in Somalia, doesn't it?

And the Repugs still wonder why they can't win elections anymore?

The more Beck talks, the more he exposes himself as an ugly, mentally ill, hateful hypocrite to ANYONE who's not completely brainwashed.

Beck already crossed one line and lost most of his advertisers for it, it won't be his last. Give Beck enough rope, and he'll hang himself. He's a disaster just waiting to happen and we'll all be thankful when it does happen.

UPS drops ALL Fox advertising, Not Just Glenn Beck!!

Rich Hallabran, spokesman for UPS Stores, said today he has not only temporarily halted buying ads on the Glenn Beck Show but also on the Fox News Channel altogether as reported by AP Television writer David Bauder

The words keep coming out of their mouth but, the left keeps saying its not so. What is it they say about a picture?

Yawn... I'm sooo tired of hearing from the flat earth party.... please go back to the 19th century - where you belong.... we're trying to progress here in the 21st century.

At some point in his past, a chubby little, scared, and now permanently damaged Crazy Glenn must have been badly hurt by someone.

Glenny Beck - leader of the dumber than a brick Repug Teabagger goons.

The Beckian Repug Teabaggers - the same idiots who stood up on their hind legs and cheered when Bush - started a war based on lies, sold us out to the Military Industrial Complex (Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater etc), gave tax cuts to the richest 1%, big oil, big corporations and illegally spied on us - are now foaming at the mouth over the possibilty of every American having access to healthcare like every other industrial country has because their Repub/Corporate overlords have all of them believing it would turn us into a Commie/Fascist/Nazi/Socialist granny killing country?

The Wingnut stupid, it hurts!

I set my TV on Beck, set it out in my garden, and my tomatoes are huge!

Thanks for the manure, Rupert.

Bad move by the White House to play ball with a certified nut like Beck who wants the president dead. Ignore him and he will go away...

http://www.political-buzz.com/

We should change the name of Faux news to the Republican party news channel. The Republican party news channel only reports the Republican party side of anything. I have had many conversations with Republican news watchers they are the most uniformed people I have ever met.

Even though president Bush stated at least twice that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 they still believe Iraq did and have no idea what Bush said. Most still believe that WMD's. were found, death panels, birthers, racist, take my guns, To name just a few, I am willing to bet that most of us out there can come up with a list give it a try.

The Repub news watchers remind me of the East Germans I met after the wall came down. The East Germans were most angry about being lied to for their whole lives their history books had to be completely changed. The wall was built to protect them from us not keep them in. These people woke up to a new world they were learning new things every day.

When will our Repub news followers wake up or do they not want to know the truth. The Repub news is still the only news channel (Faux) out there that went to court and fought for the right to lie and still call themselves a news organisation. That alone should tell people with common sense not to watch Repub news.

This attack on Fax looks pretty stupid right now, but just think how much more stupid it will look given that it fails. The administration can't even take down a network that "is not a news organization"?

Let Beck keep sticking his foot squarely in his mouth. The more he talks the more people he alienates. Let him commit career suicide.

GLENN BECK IS A SELF-DESCRIBED RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC AND DRUG ADDICT.

HIS PRIOR EXPERIENCE WAS BEING A DJ AND HE HAS NO FORMAL EDUCATION.

HIS NON-HEALTHCARE, NON-ECONOMIC, NON-ANYTHING MUCH EXPERTISE IS NOW ADVISING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ON POLICIES ?

HE'S CALLING PEOPLE COMMUNISTS AND TRYING TO START ANOTHER MCCARTHY ERA.

BECK IS AS DANGEROUS AS IT GETS. . .

The words keep coming out of their mouth but, the left keeps saying its not so. What is it they say about a picture?

Wingnut FAIL

Pat H., I agree completely.

As for the people saying that Beck is out for attention/money, I agree with that as well. Which is why I don't understand why the left and the Administration continue to fall for it by drawing more attention to him.

Why should we be so surprised Glenn Beck is #1 in the ratings...How long has the Jerry Springer show been on the air? They share the same demographic just different times of the day!!!

Glenn Beck documents everything on his TV show.

The White House hides from Fox and Glenn Beck because he is drawing a clear picture of their "Cloward Piven 2009 Strategy" that is funded by George Soros and furthered by his OSI organization.

The White House is driven by the Saul Alinsky Strategy and they are so predictible.

Once you know their strategies, you can understand their next move and their end game.

The Obimbo shaministration

Little Johnny school boy just can't get a word in without his cutesy plays on words. Ya the whole world is being controlled by The Obama Administration.... time to take that tin foil off your head Johnny, you're a bit too old for it now!

You might as well compare the Disney Channel to the (C)artoo(N)(N)etwork. Have you ever wondered what their target audience is at times? I mean this war aside, I suspect 12 and below. You remember the GOP's "What Up," the Daily Show had a thing on it. CNN "Just Sayin'." http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-august-18-2009/cnn-s-just-sayin- CNN's blog is called "What's Happening"

These marxists control the white house, senate and house and still can't accomplish anything. It shows socialism never succeeds, except in those bastions of freedom and prosperity like cuba and venezuela

Hey leftist clown. Get another name.

The left has been fooled, duped by the biggest phony ever to read a teleprompter and they still don't know it, because their GE owned propagandists on MSNBC will never even question their bosses' puppet president.

Mark Silva sounds a bit jealous to me.

Oh Scot Bucklehead, what about all those cutesy plays on words you and your demented ilk came up with for eight years? Darth Cheney? Shrub? And those were just the "nice" ones.
Just a little payback, CabbageBrain.
Get used to it!

Last weekend Fox rolled out weasel KKKarl Rove to defend the cable broadcaster against the Obama administration's characterization of Fox as a partisan media outlet. Rove made two basic points:

- No White House should ever attack specific media outlets.
- It would be horribly unfair use MSNBC's "over-the-top, left-wing hosts" an excuse to attack NBC News, which has a separate news operation.
http://www.dailykostv.com/w/002269/

Naturally, it turns out the Bush White House did exactly what Rove now says they never should have done.
http://www.dailykostv.com/w/002270/

The letter Perino refers to is this one, in which White House advisor Ed Gillespie attacks NBC News for "blurring" the lines "between the 'news' as reported on NBC and the 'opinion' as reported on MSNBC."
http://dailynightly.msnbc.msn.com/articles/1043229.aspx

Between Gillespie's letter and Perino's statement that the Bush White House was "fed up" with NBC News, we've got a clear-cut case of Karl Rove accusing the Obama White House of doing the exact same thing to Fox that the Bush White House did to NBC.

But there's one more thing that's important to point out. The so-called reporter who asked Perino the softball question reciting the accusations of Gillespie's letter and wondering whether NBC had responded was none other than Mike Emanuel of Fox.

Yep, the same Fox that now claims to be on an "enemies list" because the Obama White House had the temerity to accuse it of partisan bias was uncritically repeating Bush talking points that attacked NBC News.

So back then, Fox was working alongside the government to attack a news organization, and today they whine and howl like little babies when the current administration points out that they have an obvious partisan bias.

Oh well. It's their right to have a partisan bias. That's what the First Amendment is all about. But the mere fact that they have a right to broadcast conservative propaganda does not mean other news organizations -- or the White House -- have a responsibility to treat them like a serious news organization.

All of your comments about Beck are simply ad hominen attacks. You call him, "crazy", "wingnut", "racist", but what is interesting is that NONE of you seem to ever specific counter his claims. NEVER. Beck is asking the questions that very few will out of fear. So go ahead, continue to blindly attack him without taking on the specifics of what he is charging.

Guess you're all waiting for your "free" Obama money.

What's the matter leftists? Someone upsetting your delusional beliefs?

Why don't you go re-read George Orwell.

Orwell was a socialist, only he was brilliant. We are stuck with modern day political hacks that type that Orwell wrote about.

"During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

"Big Brother is watching you."

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."

Obama and his goons want to take over radio, newspapers, and TV news shows.

"Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

As with the Christian religion, the worst advertisement for Socialism is its adherents.
George Orwell

Early in life I had noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper.
George Orwell

Enlightened people seldom or never possess a sense of responsibility.
George Orwell

and finally:

In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics
itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.
George Orwell

Wow! Thanks libs for proving his point.

Straight from Rules for Radicals: "isolate the target....personalize attacks....level the playing feild"

What concerns me is the claim by Anita Dunn that the Obama campaign controlled the media last year and prevented them from asking the difficult questions of Candidate Obama.

This is a concern that the media must address if they desire to have any credibility with the American people.

Hey Mark, does it feel nice and warm to get a soft pat on the head and a tuck in by the WH approval gang? Heaven forbid that you would cross the line and become critical of a government that dislikes, then attacks any news media that questions its beliefs, policies, and its sneaky, non-transparent attitude. Why are they so worried about Beck exposing all of the Obama lefties and their wacky views? Afraid the American folks might catch on to their agenda. Someday soon they may just come after you! Or have you forgot that uncompromising principle of free speech. Meanwhile, as the WH goofs the press and media with this charade, Obama's Afghan waffle remains off the page and our troops have their butts hanging out as we await the decider to decide. What a joke. I gotta go pet my dog, he just loves the attention and I'm teaching him tricks.

Beck and FOX are winning and exposing the incompetents in the white house. It's a shame the comedians don't go after obama like they did President Bush, he offers so much material for them but, maybe they just think the current administration is such a joke that they couldn't add to the comedy.
Change is coming - in 2010, then in 2012.
Hey college kids, how's all that change you voted for working out? I saw one recent college graduate working at McDonalds.... ahhh change.
The double whammy is when they realize the guy that duped them is going to bury them in debt.

Plenty of Democrats on Fox News .... Williams, Colmes, etc.

Can anyone name a Republican who has written for The Swamp?

"Winning in the Ratings", is a typical American Corporate mind-set, though in this case, the CEO is a foreigner !! That doesn't seem to bother anyone !! I wonder why that is ? Could it be, the foreigner provides a platform for those sore losers that lost the last presidential election and have a means by which they can collectively cheer for President Obama's failure, and by extension, America's !! Murduck's motto might be: Let's keep America divided, as the English attempted during the Civil War !!
Winning the ratings means, a winning cheer for President Obama's failure. Reasonable disagreements !!!? Please, try not be that stupid. If it were any other President offering the solutions, President Obama is offering, there would be a lot less rancor and demagoguery. That is stating the obvious !! So, while you may brag that your are winning the ratings, America may be losing the wars against the many Corporate assaults against American citizens, their health, their economy and their constitutional rights !! That is sure something to be proud of, isn't it, all you beckerheads !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Actually, Bruce is here every day, in either name or pseudonym, complaining about the Swamp, so the GOP is well represented. Above, he wrote 91 characters, an ellipsis, two commas, a period and a question mark.

For news go to Fox.
For White house propaganda go to ABC.
Better yet cruse the internet.

I guess Oberman, Cafferty, Rather, and their ilk are O.K. And watching CNN (Comrades News Network) with the constant obama pictures in the background is not hyping the liar. Did CNN ever have Pres. Bush perched over the shoulder of a talking head. But it is not subliminal. It is blatant.

Readers will note that Mark Silva doesn't even try to deny my observation that The Swamp never has employed a Republican to write for it. Readers will recall that some Swamp writers have in fact gone to work for Obama--which only makes official what they already were doing.

Readers will note anything submitted by Bruce is not really worth noting.

My guess is that they are not the top 1% in terms of intelligence.

Beck and Oberman should have UFC style fight winner is king of the nutjobs

Bruce wants there to be quotas for Republicans in the press. He wants affirmative action.

"Simply the truth," actually me, Bruce, Terry and John W. actually counter the Swamp's claims on a regular basis with links to news stories, polling data, etc.
Mark, I do not think that a few posters here count as Swamp Republicans. The point Bruce is making is who at the Swamp is NOT a liberal or lefitst? How many Chicago Tribune employees have gone to work for the Obama administration, Democratic party or other Democratic politician in the past year? is there balance in the reporting here? Are all sides given fairly and at least close to in balance?
Can someone count on more than one hand the conservatives employed by the Chicago Tribune?

I have to agree with the poster that said that no one seems to challenge Beck's assertions substantively . If you remove all the invectives, "ad hominems", and pitiful attempts at wit, what's left? I don't care tuppence about his "formal education" (and neither would you had he gone to... say... Yale (with a Harvard MBA.) He's a classic "Laissez-faire" capitalist from the Milton Friedman school... and has said so repeatedly. This position is also evident in his arguments against government involvement for health care.

What really annoys his opponents is that he has this nasty propensity for supporting his opinions with facts of pristine veracity. He uses the objects of his ire's own words against them.

I'm not buying the "king of the idiots" argument.

Bubba Porter "Obama's Afghan waffle remains off the page and our troops have their butts hanging out as we await the decider to decide." Bubba could you think critically for a second instead of repeating Beck. The reason for the delay of announcing our Afghanistan intentions is to put pressure on the corrupt Karzi government to clean up their act. Without a reliable and somewhat honest Afghanistan government we will be wasting our troops lives and treasure. Maybe you would prefer to announce prematurely and negotiate later. Do you pay sticker price for your cars?

I find it interesting that the two most popular personalities for the far right flunked out of college - in the first semester - are both "former" drug addicts, alcoholics and self professed racists!!!
You go GOP!
Limbaugh/Beck 2012

I have to laugh at most of the above posts, attacking Glenn Beck with a multitude of insults. You are unwilling to engage in meaningful debate about the issues--can you identify anything that he has said as untrue?--and so you resort to ridicule as a method deligitamize your opponent. When you're ready to actually talk issues without name-calling, then I'll take you seriously.

OK Planet Wingnuttia I'll make it easy for you. Beck shows a video of democrats saying stuff, with me so far. No other network shows the video until FNC does, are you keeping up. WH attacks FNC for what a Democrats said on video. WH has never said the videos are wrong. FNC ratings go up. At the same time CNN tells Rush their sorry for lying about him. Can you handle that, I hope its not to much for you.

Barry continues his downward spiral ever since being humiliated on the world stage by the great Olympic fiasco. This administration seems more desperate by the day. Axelrod, Emmanuel, and Dunn should each get a pink-slip for all their disasterous public relations buffoonery.

He's a classic "Laissez-faire" capitalist from the Milton Friedman school... and has said so repeatedly.

Posted by: Benn Gleck | October 20, 2009 12:02 PM
;
Then why does he get inspiration from the philosophy of Thomas Paine, a known Socialist who advocated for the redistribution of wealth? Pallin' around with Socialist philosophers doesn't sound like "laissez-faire" capitalism to me.
PS Becks accusations aren't challenged because they are meaningless. Van Jones was a communist, Van Jones does not have authority. Van Jones was respected and praised by Republicans in the summer because he is recognized nationally as a leading expert in creating business partnerships w/ the private sector and government. I don't care if Van Jones thinks Brussels sprouts are delicious any more than whether he once considered himself a communist revolutionary. It. Doesn't. Matter. Obama doesn't make laws. Van Jones doesn't make laws. We still live in democracy. And the last time I checked the government does not control the means of production and distribution of material goods. So OMG guess what? I just refuted Glenn Becks central argument that we are becoming a Communist, Socialist dictatorship.

Nutjobs also stuffed a "straw man" for his argument with all the relevance to Beck's economic philosophy as his preference for ketchup or mustard. Jones was respected and praised by whom? Does that matter? You haven't refuted a can of paint...

Regarding Paine, who cares? He may also have been inspired by John Lennon and Jack Daniels... who cares? At no point in any publication has Glenn Beck advocated socialism or communism... irrespective of what think you know about some dead old revolutionary.

At what point did the White House Communications Director, under attack by Glenn Beck, who admired the philosophy of Mao Zedung advocate the slaughter of millions or Communism. Fool!
PS
Van Jones was praised by Republican Congressmen/women as late as Summer 2009.

What happened to Al Franken, Alex Baldwin, and others who started their own radio talk-show, but never took off? Hmm? They should have gone over the roof in popularity if "MAJORITY" of Americans share their beliefs of extreme liberal agendas.

Wow, Nutjob... that would be "red herring" to toss after your idiotic straw man. When did Anita Dunn purport to advocate the mass murder of "friendly competition?" I'd say never. I'm not sure that even the most fundamental Chinese communist would advocate such a thing... and again, it is beyond the scope of our conversation. What she *did* was proffer a quote by the Glorious Chairman Mao, whom she says she turns to most often, in such as a way as to suggest that his ends justified his means. Listen to the quote, you dolt... keep it in context. Then she backtracked to say she was being "ironic" or quoting Lee Atwater quoting Mao (instead of standing by her own speech.) No one has ever suggested Mao didn't have a "good quote" to use... but not that one, in that context, to THAT audience. Now, go take your GED.

"What happened to Al Franken, Alex Baldwin, and others who started their own radio talk-show, but never took off?"

What happened, indeed. Americans voted (and continue to vote) with their remote controls. In ever increasing numbers they are saying "no" to the uber-libs and yes to Beck, Fox, Rush, etc. It's all about ratings, and the libs ain't got 'em because they're too, well, liberal.

What happen to the last president that attacked a new outlet in this way? It only happened a little over 30 years ago.

WASHINGTON — In the special interest war over health care, the White House and congressional Democrats have the nation's drug makers and hospitals generally on their side; the insurance industry, not so much.

Now the bill's supporters are making a play to lock in the American Medical Association, the organization that says it represents 250,000 doctors and medical students in every state and congressional district. The principal enticement, a $247 billion measure making its way to the Senate floor, aims to wipe out a scheduled 21 percent rate cut for doctors treating Medicare patients and replace it with a permanent, predictable system for future fee increases.

You are being dishonest. You are using a straw man argument. You are assuming you and Glenn Beck know what point she was making. She was not advocating the crushing of dissent as Glenn Beck claims. You're both fools.

The more Obama’s administration emulates Hugo Chávez in trying to marginalize news organizations that do not show his administration in a soft glowing light, the more value FOX news has in my eyes.

In fighting FOX tooth and nail, this president’s administration is (at best) ill-advised. At worst, it’s willfully and transparently trampling on free speech rights. All the negative Obama coverage I have seen on FOX news, mainly on Glen Beck’s show, was backed up by videos where either Obama’s own words or those of his cronies and advisors were used to support the point. Those stories were not made up! I admit that Glen Beck sometimes misses his target, but at other times the videos he shows and his commentary are so shockingly effective that it does not surprise me that the White House is now using veiled threats to keep other news organizations from following up on those stories.

I expect that somebody will call me out on my saying that other news organizations have been threatened by the White House. It seems such a harsh and unfair accusation, but (think about it) for Rahm Emanuel, Anita Dunn, and David Axelrod to go on other networks expressly to single out Fox as the villain, and their stories as simply made up lies, implies that the news organizations graced by their presence are doing the right thing…as long as they continue to ignore those stories.

Never mind that FOX broke news on ACORN’s corruption, Van Jones’ outrageous statements and Communist ties, Anita dunn’s praise of Chairman Mao, President Obama’s apparent (and incomprehensible) about face on Afghanistan, and such--stories not even being disclaimed by the White House. They’re simply not even commenting on them! All they’re saying is, “FOX is persona non grata to us”, which, by implication, extends to any other news organization that decide to pick up, follow-up, or even investigate the validity of those stories!

This is downright dangerous for our society and incredibly ironic coming from the White House of the man who at one point said that his administration would be the most ethical and transparent in history.

Let's put this stupid conversation to rest. I'm not a huge fan of Glenn Beck or Fox News, but these attacks are stupid.

Now, listen closely.

1. Beck is a commentator. Like Rachel Maddow. His show is entertainment with political content. You know, like Jon Stewart. He doesn't claim to be a news anchorman. It is an opinion program. Any questions?

2. Inasmuch as Beck does express political views, their valid as far as they go. He expresses a lot of concern about the federal deficit. So does the secretary of the treasury, for a long time now. This is not a maniacal view. He seems to feel that Obama is a communist. Personally I think that's a stretch, but the bailout of the banks could lead one to think the state is taking over the means of production.

Calling Beck or Fox names is imbecilic. There's room in a free society for MSNBC, another opinion-based news channel, the Daily Show, and Fox's talk hosts. If Obama's aides disagree they should answer the criticism.

Actual dialogue instead of name-calling. That would show some intelligence, wouldn't it?

I beg to differ. "when Mao Tse Tung was being challenged within his own party on his plan to basically take China over, Chiang Kai-Shek and the nationalist Chinese held the cities, they had the army. They had the air force. They had everything on their side, and people said how can you win? How can you do this? How can you do this? Against all the odds against you, and Mao Tse Tung said, you know, you fight your war, and I'll fight mine, and think about that for a second." I think a reasonable interpretation is, actually, 'do what works for you' (or the ends justify the means.) His means included 30M dead dissenters. But it was his "war." Why is this so hard for you to understand, the Nutjob? Do you have another interpretation? A better one? What DID he mean then? In what way did she intend Glenn and Benn to understand this repugnant quote? Stop being a waste of carbon...

Obama and gang are using Fox to cover for their missteps in Afghanistan. Start a war with a news outlet so those on the Left will not see the mess they are making in the real war.

And the Left has fell for it. Just goes to show you the Left's mind, and its not looking good for them.

The leftist comments here, including the blog's author fully illustrate why you fascists on the left are the most dangerous people on the planet. You absolutely HATE people that don't march in lockstep with you.

You are fanatics.

fanatic: wildly excessive or irrational devotion, dedication, or enthusiasm...mmm, mmm, mmm

Noun 1. fanaticism - excessive intolerance of opposing views
fanatism, zealotry
intolerance - unwillingness to recognize and respect differences in opinions or beliefs.

You are HYPOCRITES. You claim to be tolerant, but you are liars and intolerant and everybody sees it but you.

Apparently, non of you have ever watched or listened to Glenn Beck. If you want to REALLY know what is happening in the news, I suggest that you turn Glenn on. He is the ONLY one who sees the BIG picture. All the other news stations are in Obama's pocket. We know what is going on and you people living in the Dark Ages as far as news. Get with it people and hear the truth. Glenn is a good guy and doesn't lie like a lot of people in the news media and in the White House if you know WHO I mean!!!!!!

it's always the same isn't it?

the right comes with arguments, sticks to the point and uses facts ... the left attacks the messenger, insults and ... well, what to say ... lies!

in 20-30 years the left is going to say; whir habben das nicht gewust!

because by that time it will be obvious how devastating Obama has been!

you're warned now!

Glenn Beck rocks! He questions the White House and administration when the rest of the fringe media, such as NBC, ABC, CBS PMSNBC and the others are covering Obama fluff. The left is wrong & being taken to task for it.
Glenn - keep up the good work!

Really? The personal attacks that were posted aren't over the top? What does one have to do to be "over-the-top"?, accuse Glenn Beck of bestiality?
