Michael Moore: 'Sean Hannity was right': The Swamp

Hannity didn't happen to say if Moore was left.

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Michael Moore, the left-leaning filmmaker, lost a bet to Sean Hannity, the right-leaning television news commentator:

"I said that... George W. Bush, he will either have to resign or he'll be impeached,'' Moore recalled of that wager made in 2002, when Moore last appeared on Hannity's radio show.

The deal was that, if Hannity lost, he would have to wear an "I Love Hillary'' button.

If Moore lost, he would have to hold up a sign reading, "Sean Hannity was right,'' in front of the White House.

So last night, on FOX News Channel's Hannity, Moore, maker of the new film about "capitalism, a love story,'' was seen holding that sign in front of a picture of the White House. It was only a set, Moore noted, but it was hard enough carrying that sign into the studio.

All in a day's film-promotion.

Seany Hannity didn't stand a chance in this debate. That's what happens when Wingnut propaganda and lies meet facts and reality.

The right wing lunatic fringe automatically starts foaming at the mouth at the mere mention of Moore's name because Moore was the first one to pick up a mega-phone and call out Bushco for their Iraq lies.

The clock is still ticking on Vannity's promise of his waterboarding.

The Rights false equivalency meme of Moore = Limbaugh, Beck etc. is a joke. It's a tired old saw that conservatives start hacking away with whenever Moore makes a movie that challenges their moronic worldview.

"Sure, Glenn Beck is a racist maniac and an asshole to boot," they'll grudgingly admit, "But you Lefties have the same problem so who can tell which side is right?"

The problem is, Michael Moore's movies contain an uncomfortable number of verifiable facts and he is quite confident to stand behind those facts and assertions. He couches his presentation in a way that is "liberally" biased, but he does not make crap up, lie, distort the evidence, edit out things that inconvenience him , or any of the other million disgusting propaganda techniques that the Faux News network does on a daily basis. The equivalence is steaming carp. When they run out of that talking point they start casting Moore's activism as somehow tainted because he is wealthy or acting in the best interest of someone other than himself . . . the logic is bizarre and contorted and basically pathetic.

hope Hannity realizes (he does) that most of the people who got sucked in to the sub-prime mortgages were the poor and lower middle class, blue collar workers who were more than likely Republicans.

If you looked at the data the Red states were affected disproportionately more than the Blue states in this incredulous deception by the banks.

It's a strategy that has worked wonders for the right wingers for decades - blame all the evils of the world on those "beneath" you, who are that way because they are lazy and no good, and who steal your hard earned money out of your pockets through taxes and government largesse.

It's odd that none of the average Joe Republican cretins ever seem to notice that this implies that all those "above" them have nothing but contempt for them, and are blaming them and their dependence on government for everything that is bad.

While I lean to the left, I am not a big fan of Michael Moore. I consider him a bafoon who is often counter-productive to the very issues he argues.

However, I do think we can all agree on one point he makes in his newest film. (I haven't seen it, I've read reviews.) But the issue is with the so-called "peasant insurance" that big companies take out and cash in on their employees without their knowledge. There needs to be a way to make this illegal. And, now!!!

Gee Teresa, why am I not surprised that you can find some fringe right wing sites that dispute Michael Moore!?!?

Moore gave an excellent response to the false Wingnut meme that the "Community Reinvestment Act" is entirely responsible for our economic meltdown.

That Right Wing false construct has been fully embraced and is widely broadcast by Druugy Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin etc. although it is patently ridiculous. Moore was able to refute it (so easily) on Hannity's very own show and Moore gave Hannity's audience of "Country First, Great American Clowns" a lesson in how easy it is to see through Right Wing lies, spin and propaganda.

The gullibility of conservatives, or more precisely their willingness to believe without bothering to fact check anything which confirms their biases, is amazing.

Hans, Hans, Hans, sorry but Michael Moore has a history of fudging and distorting facts for his "movies." He is a propagandist to the hilt and your Loons soak it up like a sponge does water.
Anyway, Moore kills me. He now makes a movie against capitalism. The funny thing about it is that Moore couldn't get his movies made and distributed if it weren't for capitalism and he wouldn't be a millionaire if it weren't for capitalism.

Hannity cleaned Moore's clock in that little debate. If we had the socialist society that Moore advocates we'd all be starving and worried about food and shelter rather than having health insurance. Capitalism has done more to help the poor and common man than any socialist or communist society ever throughout history.

We already have a Communist society, Danny.

Thanks to your Repuglican heroes - the richest 1%, big oil, big corporations, Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex rule this country.

Here's the thing Danny, as much as you want to pretend that it's not true because Druggy Rush and Faux news told you so, little rubes like you are only one major illness away from bankruptcy. And if that happens do you really think multi millionaire shysters like Limbaugh and Hannity are going to come to your aide?

Michael Moore: I hate capitalism, except for the delicious BigMacs.

Please explain how Mr. Moore is not a Capitalist. His shtick (and we all have one) is to play Joe Shmoe from Flint. Do you actually believe that Moore believes 911 was an inside job? If so, you are his customer and he appreciates it.

I watched a bit of it, though the sight of hantwitty and o'really makes me puke. Moore wiped the floor with this bastard. The one word to describe all these sickening reps. is 'smug'. No smarts, no intelligence, narrow minds and abrasive, ignorant brains, just ugliness.

Warmonger Hannity Helps Kids Whose Parents Killed By Wars He Mongers For

Saw the despicable warmonger Sean Hannity recently (9/9/09) talking about the “Freedom Concerts” he participates in the purpose of which, he says, is “to raise money for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which is for the children of these slain heroes. These guys go off and fight for your liberty, for our freedom and for my right to have a big mouth on TV and radio...And so we -- we kind of forget these kids that (are) left behind that don't have their moms and dads so we put these concerts together. And last year was a record. We did eight shows.”

Glossary Note: A “slain hero” being, for jingoist jerk Hannity, any American who died while doing -- well, anything the mindlessly militaristic Hannity thinks is heroic. A somewhat tautological definition, I must admit. But, this is the way moral idiots like Hannity think.

But, no, Hannity, I do not kind of forget these kids whose parents were killed, in part, because of warmonger bastards like you who support these unGodly, unConstitutional conflicts in Iraq/Afghanistan. And I also do not forget the kids of non-Americans whose parents were killed/murdered by our military. But, no concerts for them, right?! Their freedom meant nothing, right?!

And to think you call yourself a Christian! What a liar you are!

Finally, if you were a Christian -- which you are not! -- you would know that all good things, if they are truly good, come from God! Thus, if there is “liberty” or “freedom” anywhere it is due to the grace of God and not our military!

You are an embarrassment to the cause of Christ....
