We've heard so much lately about the battle between the White House and FOX News Channel that we've lost track of a far bloodier war: Glenn Beck versus Keith Olbermann.
MSNBC's Olbermann, lead batter in the evening "sick-puppy'' lineup at the cable network where liberals like to line up (George H.W. Bush's characterization), has added Beck, the communists-in-the-White House-obsessed FOX News commentator de jour for the conservative crowd, to his lineup of "the world's worst.''
"You're nuts,'' Olbermann tells Beck. "You're nuts.''
Harsh reply to follow.

Comments
Bottom line .....
Olbermann ought to look in the mirror before he starts throwing rocks !!!!
The videos and other proof that I've seen on Beck's show to support his views about obama admin people sure are compelling !!!
Olbermann is just running scared and trying to blow smoke !!!

Oberman calling some body nuts. Now this is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. But it's O.K. as the same hatchet job is going on at CNN. You know the COMRADES NEWS NETWORK.

sound's like keith is just as big a crybaby as his idol barry is.
Beck crushes msnbc in ratings, what kind of comment do you think they'd have.
Hey, how many dead under obama keith? I guess you really don't care about the troops anymore eh. I guess
being an arm of the democrats isn't as lucrative. GO BECK!
Go FOX, freedom of the press! Freedom to ask questions of our corrupt political leaders!! Keep up the good work, maybe the arms of the democrats (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC etc.) will eventually learn that they're there to report news, not manufacture it or give undo praise to polticians.
keith calling Beck nuts is the pot calling the kettle black.

Ahh, cable "news" programming, the largest bane to our society next to the stupidity that passes as "talk radio."
The only thing worse than the two aforementioned institutions is their audience of mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers.

It is amazing that the mud fight between Far Left Crazy Keith Olbermann and Far Right Wacko Glenn Beck is making the news. And what is even more amazing is the Obama White House going out of its way to get involved in a mud fight with Fox News and even singling out some of its political commentators. Earlier in the year they even went after Jim Cramer and his show "Mad Money" for comments they did not like on the economy. What is next, a Nixon style enemies list? All Obama and his staff has done is Lower the Prestige of the Presidency. Obermann, Schultz, Madlow, Hannity, Beck, and O'Reilly are all political entertainers that provide a show for their extreme Liberal and Conservative audiences. I am really surprised that Obama and his White House Staff have not figured out that all MSNBC and Fox do on their evening lineups is provide political entertainment with outrageous statements for their respective audiences. This is all about television ratings. It is a shame that President Obama and Staff have not figured it out.
Posted by: Depot- Jim | October 21, 2009 12:28 PM
Olbermann is a joke. Is Beck over the top...sure..but have you ever watched Olbermann?? He is crazy. Is the White House going to call MSNBC an entertainment station? Olbermann, Maddow, Mathews and that other clown they line up in the evenings...wow.
Posted by: DTR | October 21, 2009 12:34 PM
Beck is not only nuts. He's toxic. Just like Bill-O, Hannity, and the other wack jobs at fox "news". Throw in Lou Dobbs, Rush, and a few others and you have the makings of Jonestown. Now all you need are the pathetic losers who actually beleive and follow these showmen , and you have tragedy in the making.
Posted by: gibster | October 21, 2009 12:43 PM
Yep. Beck is nuts and so is anyone who watches him on a daily basis. Let the trolling begin...
Posted by: mg | October 21, 2009 1:01 PM
I THINK BOTH OF THESE PEOPLE FROM FOX AND MSNBC ARE JUST MAKING
UP A BUNCH OF LIES JUST TO BOOST THE RATINGS OF THEIR BOSSES. WE NEED HONEST NEWS LIKE CNN.
Posted by: JOSEPH PUSATERI | October 21, 2009 1:10 PM
Frankly, I think they're BOTH nuts. But I've noticed the following differences between the two...
- Olbermann is highly educated and intelligent. Beck took one college class on theology and dropped out.
- Olbermann seems highly determined to make sure he cites verifyable facts (even when conveniently ommitting information) to support his POV. Beck routinely makes things up or cites debunked lies as facts to support his POV.
- Olbermann is a prima dona with a reputation as a womanizer. Beck is a a prima donna who regularly proves himself to be an unabashed racist.
- Olbermann appeals to logic and reason when making his arguments. Beck appeals to fears and prejudices when making his.
- Olbermann can hold his own in a debate or discussion. Beck got rolled by Katie Couric.
Posted by: Bad Angus | October 21, 2009 1:17 PM
Beck screams "get off my phone!" and melts down regularly on his show from the excerpts I've seen. And then goes on to incite violence and hate.
When he isn't off his meds he looks like he needs to be institutionalized.
Totally worth mocking and Keith does a good job of mocking him.
Posted by: Pax | October 21, 2009 1:19 PM
I'm a fan of Obermann, and I agree with the points he made, but he needs to research his facts more carefully.
Those three civil rights workers weren't lynched outside Philadelphia, MS in 1964. They were shot to death and dumped in a swamp. The black guy was severely beaten before getting a bullet in the head.
Posted by: Bill Dwyer | October 21, 2009 1:21 PM
All of this "cable news" and commentary has long since left the realm of genuine news reporting. It's long been squarely in the realm of "reality" shows. Taking the opinions of any of these talking heads seriously, as so many seem to, is a direct reflection of how poor public education has become over the past 25-30 years. Basic critical thought is becoming a lost skill.

Glen Beck is worse than an embarassment for our country: he's an abomination. Just because he gets high ratings doesn't mean anything he says is worthwhile. People slow down to gawk at traffic accidents, too, espeically if they are bloody. Glen Beck is sitting back making millions watching all the little idiots alternately swoon or cry over his bilge. He should be convicted of treason and dropped into a deep, dark hole forever for what he's doing to the country. Some say 'don't hate the player, hate the game.' In this case, I hate them both.

One idiot from one failed side of the spectrum calling out an idiot from the other failed side. That is special. The scary thing is that people go to these hacks for information and news.
I do have to admit I would like to see Beck and Olberdouche in no holds barred deathmatch.
I'd be rooting for a tie.
Posted by: Indieman | October 21, 2009 1:33 PM
Let me get this straight....a wannabe sportscaster calling a wannabe tv commentator "nuts" is news? Pot meet kettle.....
Posted by: joe | October 21, 2009 1:37 PM
Olbermann, Beck and others of both stripes represent the infotainment biz where too many people now go for news. It is not news. It is invective and sloppy invective at that. Hopefully, they will cancel each other out. I've already done that by not tuning in. Try it, you'll like it. All that name calling is an energy siphon and an unhealthy way to end your day.
Posted by: MPJ | October 21, 2009 1:39 PM
Olbermann should stick to something he knows about. Being a mediocre sports reader.
Posted by: C Annis | October 21, 2009 1:39 PM
Name call and marginalize - that is all Olbermann is capable of...he's not nearly as smart as he pretends to be...he's lost his comdey edge (its why ESPN dumped him and his show lags behind in the ratings)...have some actual content to your show and stop bashing Fox...believe me they dont care about you...( your're clearly no threat)...
Posted by: GiveitUp | October 21, 2009 1:40 PM
Does anybody else get a kick out of the way Olbermann makes fun of other people's voices and speech patterns while he does his excuse for a show using a cheesy, failed ex-sportscaster voice?
Oh wait, my bad. I forgot. He IS a cheesy, failed ex-sportscaster.

I can filter out Beck's exagerations but I can't filter out Olbermann's whining and complaining. I agree that Beck might be nuts but he's more of an investigative journalist than Olbermann could ever hope to be.
Posted by: Chicago Al | October 21, 2009 1:47 PM
You liberals are in deep do do id you let a loser like Olberman become the spokesman for your cause. Afterall, he is just a washed up sports talking head from ESPN that thinks he knows what he is talkin about.
Posted by: roundlaketom | October 21, 2009 1:49 PM
Don't fall pray to the Keith Olbermann rant. This is an obvious ploy to get some very short term ratings. I can't believe the guy still has a show. Anyone who wastes so much time belittling a competitor does not have Americas best interest at heart. He's always been a self serving rogue commentator and analyst.BTW when he was on ESPN he sucked and he still sucks. They ruined Sunday night football by putting Olbermann and Patrick on the broadcast. They're both pompous, arrogant jerks.
Posted by: kevin | October 21, 2009 2:03 PM
Neither network is news, they are entertainment shows. But it is funny to read the posts here. The only talking points the conservatives have left are to shriek "liberal" and ask "where is President Barrack Obama's birth certificate"?
Posted by: rich | October 21, 2009 2:09 PM

Olberman's segment is titled "world's worst." Maybe he'd like to pull up a chair so his friend Glenn Beck can join him, together they can bask in the light of their enormous egos, because we know they're not covering third world hunger everyday for the ratings.

Posted by: Shamus | October 21, 2009 2:20 PM
Glenn Beck is so transparently a scam to make Glenn Beck rich that I can't believe it's gotten this far. If it wasn't for the low IQ goobers who make up the Republican base, nutjobs like Beck, Druggy Rush and Hannity would be doing late night infomercials for a living right now.
He's incoherently ranting one minute, crying the next, he supports something one day, and denounced it the next, he decries... Glenn Beck on a regular basis as a joke and a clown.
Beck is going to get somebody killed before he finally falls from his gilded perch, that's what makes him so scary.

Any news outlet (Faux) that would feature Crazy Glenn Beck is not a news outlet, it's a comedy channel.
I wonder what Beck's next gimmick will be?
An hour long special on eating lead paint chips? 30 minutes of pro-paint chips people, and 30 minutes of anti-paint chips people?
Or maybe he'll discuss the pros and cons of putting your hand in the toaster. He can bring in Orly Taitz, foremost expert on hand-toaster interactions, and Michael Scheuer on how Obama's Hitleresque government is trying to take away your freedom to stick your hand in your toaster whenever you want.

What I like best is that the White House supplies all the material for Beck, Hannity, and O'Reilly. I love that the networks...so called major networks...were scooped SO badly by Fox. It also is amazing that Obama OWNS all these people. Talk about reverse slavery! Whew....there isn't a reporter out there, it seems, that can take on Emmanuel or Axelrod or godBama. Well, let's see. Fox is booming. The Wall Street Journal now has the largest circulation, taking the lead from left-leaning USA Today.
Conservatism is booming (see Gallop for details). The hard-left New York Times is laying off another 150 staff. Hard-left CNN viewership is down 30 percent. Hard-left MSNBC viewership is down 10 percent.
40 percent of Americans now strongly disapprove of Obama versus 27 percent who approve (see today's Rasmussen). Despite the breathy assertions from the Obama Kool Aid Kids, things are moving away from Obama and the hard left at a very, very rapid pace. Keep the faith, Americans. We WILL take the country back from the arrogant, incompetent children in the White House.

A few thoughts here for those of you on here too inflamed with hate to see clearly:
1 - Olbermann is not a "failed" sportscaster. He left ESPN of his own accord and spent some time working at FOX; and currently co-hosts the nation's highest rated football broadcast, "Football Night in America" on NBC. That's not failing.
2- Is Olbermann over-dramatic and over-emotional? You bet. But to my knowledge, the man has never cried once on television - never mind the multiple times Mr. Beck has cried on TV. You can call Olbermann a crybaby, but only Beck has actually broken down on television on multiple occasions.
3 - Olbermann's rants tend to be rooted in actual FACTS. Bush's two wars, FOX's skewed news coverage (i.e. promoting tea parties, but giving scant coverage to the equally large and attended gay rights march in D.C.), Bush's lack of response to Katrina, and a whole lot of criticisms of Obama's too soft stance on healthcare and gay rights. Yes, Olbermann is often critical of Obama and Democrats. How often does Beck criticize Republicans?
Look, it's clear Olbermann is slanted towards the left - often in a manner which is way too loud and strident for my tastes. But not only is Beck equally slanted towards the right, his over emotional fear mongering and lying (this week: Obama's calls for folks to volunteer is comparable to Maoist China!) is dangerous, mean spirited, and cynical beyond recognition.
They're both loons. But only Beck is a fear mongering liar. (The GE building has communist artwork! Obama wants to take over the media! Obama wants to kill old people!) I don't see how anyone with any sense of intellect can argue with that.
Posted by: Todd | October 21, 2009 2:34 PM
Beck's ratings at 5 pm are consistently nearly triple what Olber can manage to pull in during prime time. I would imagine Olber *is* angry at being in last place night after night after night. Keep up the good work, Glenn.

Hey Gary. Take the blinders off. Or are you a moveon.org plant trying to make the Obamunists palatable to reasonable people, because he's so distasteful if you really examine him.
And as people examine him since prior to the election, his past associates and viewpoints were kept under cover as he preened as a "moderate" to "conservative" biipartisan world changer, he becomes more distasteful. And we find out that he's nothing more than a garden variety lib who's mastered his marxist cliches and spouts them freely when he thinks there's nobody but libs around to slap each other on the backs as they enact gusher up poverty measures to put us all under their collective thumbs.
No, sir, we're not the goobers who take what our do-nothing professors spoon fed us in college to think that maybe just this time, socialism would work if only a brilliant, gilded tongue master of deception, along with a senate and house headed by corrupt dunces would try to implement it here in America.
We're not under the illusion that the Obamunists are not fascists/socialists/communists (different shades of the same megalomania), you are under the illusion that rewarding failure and punishing success will lead to anything positive in our economy or society.

Fox is not un-biased, nor is MSNBC. But at least MSNBC doesn't advertise "Fair & Balanced". You folks probably don't have a job anyway because your King Bush destroyed our economy, so of course you have nothing better to do than to watch Fox and MSNBC while the rest of us are working. Somehow someone made Glenn Beck a star. Previous to his getting a cable show so that he can rant his innanities, the closest he came to fame was having a name similar to Glenn Beckert, the former Cubs second baseman.
Beckert once made an easy ground ball right at him seemed if the whole world depended on his catching the ball and throwing it to first to complete Kenny Holtzman's no-hitter.
Beckert made the play and ... well, the rest is history.
Beck, on the other hand, has nothing close to that accomplishment.
Which again raises the question, "Glenn Who?"

Olberman is a little over the top but still likeable. Beck is foaming at the mouth. I can't wait for the day he breaks down and throws himself on the floor screaming - I think it's coming. the man " sees" things that aren't there - I think it's called DT's -

BREAKING!!!!
FOX NEWS ALERT!!!!
Is it true that Genn Beck bites the heads off of squirrels?
Only Orly Taitz', in her persona as resident expert dentist, can get to the bottom of this horrible case of animal cruelty. We sincerely hope she can disprove the match of dentiton between Glenn Beck's dentures and the horribly mangled squirrels found three miles from Beck's Long Island estate, but the unfounded rumours must be answered.
More at ten.

Obama's enemies list is a public version of Nixon's. Obama is using the government to go after private citizens and news organizations.
Nixon was wrong and the media/liberals went berserk. Today, the media is silent.
At least Bush took the high road and distanced himself form all of the dirt. Obama lowers himself and the office by engaging in it.

Fox News isn't just bad. It's un-American.
"If you were watching Fox News Channel, you saw the familiar roster of platinum pundettes and anchor androids reciting the same soundbites: this was Obama's version of Nixon's enemies list, the rest of the news media is in Obama's corner, Obama should get back to governing, and so on. On The O'Reilly Factor, Alan Colmes, the network's weak, battered house liberal, mumbled semi-agreement while "Doctor" Monica Crowley and Bill O'Reilly lit up the scoreboard with these talking points"

Glenn Beck is Joe McCarthy reincarnated. Like McCarthy, he preaches to the GOP choir. Like McCarthy, he will end badly!
Posted by: JON WINDY | October 21, 2009 5:16 PM
ONe thing for sure they are making money out of this squabbling, the more the public feeds the more they make.
Posted by: Inky | October 21, 2009 5:31 PM
Hey JON WINDY, the problem (for you) with your comparison to Joe McCarthy is that McCarthy was right.

"Nuts" is what General McAuliff had for the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge - WWII. Glenn Beck only re-plays the Marxists saying what Marxists everywhere are pre-disposed to say. GB, Django, only want to know if this is where America really wants to go. We have an ideal where the "nuts" are.

Per Bad Angus "Olbermann is highly educated and intelligent. Beck took one college class on theology and dropped out".
While Glenn readily admits his college experience, Olbermann claims to have an ivy league education at Cornell. Sorry to point out the truth but he graduated from the Cornell School of Agriculture, not exactly ivy league.

Can you imagine the likes of Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley and David Brinkley slamming each other on a daily basis like Fox and MSNBC.
It's sad and pathetic.
Bill O'Reilly, at least once per week (if not more!), has his sex teaser video on while he oogles "Hoover" and the other blondes on the show.
Olbermann and Maddow are not much better in their smugness.

I met that new clown
On the street last night
He seemed glad to be turning
tricks for FOX News
And we talked about some old times
And we shed ourselves some tears
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years
He's not the kind of man
Who tends to rationalize
He seems to lean on
Old paranoid ways
And he aint no fool for love songs
That whisper in his ears
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years
Now he sits by his window
And watches the cars
I fear he'll do some damage
One fine day
But he would not be convicted
By a jury of his peers
They're still crazy after all these years
Oh, still crazy
Still hazy
They're still crazy after all these years

OldCreaky, mis-using Paul Simon. Who's going to save your soul. The truth hurts, doesn't it.
