A little more insight into why Sarah Palin was able to resign as governor of Alaska last summer: The advance for that forthcoming memoir of hers was $1.25 million.
Going Rogue -- or Going Rouge as satirists have dubbed it -- will be out Nov. 17. Palin, the 2008 GOP nominee for vice president, stepped out of office in July.
A disclosure statement released today about Palin's finances from Jan. 1 to July 27, when she resigned as Alaska governor, shows she received $1.25 million from publisher HarperCollins for her memoirs. She refers to the payment as a "retainer.''
It's likely that Palin will make more after publication. Going Rogue jumped to No. 1 on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com after HarperCollins announced that it had advanced the release date of 1.5 million copies by several months. The book is No,. 6 on Amazon now, and 11 at Barnes & Noble.
Palin will make an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show the day before the book's release.
The Associated Press contributed.

Come and listen to a story about a woman named Sarah
A poor mountaineer, barely kept her family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.
Politics that is, demogoguery, McCarthyism.
Well the first thing you know ol Sarah's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said "Sarah move away from there"
Said "Fox news is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Fox TV.
News, that is. Crying pundits, red baiters.
Well now its time to say good by to Sarah and all her kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back a gain to this locality
To have a heapin helpin of their hospitality
Hillybilly that is. Chatter a spell, Shoot your mouth off.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?.

Bravo for Sarah Palin. No one else has ever bugged the leftist media and Democrats more than her. Something about being cleancut that doesn't fit their templates for politicians.

It is amazing that most of the books either about current political figures or authored by them get any play. Books on current figures are "love or Hate" affairs. The political figure that is the topic of the book is often described as either the best thing since sliced bread or the worst person to walk the face of the earth. It is very difficult to get a good historical view of a current political leader or events until at least 20 to 30 years have gone by. At that time you will start to get better idea of how events and policies of leaders play out in the long run.

You are a prome example of wingnut intelligence. Liberals bugged by Palin? She may be one of the main reasons Obama won big. Many liberals are hoping she runs again in 2012. Whta's buggy here is your thinking- or lack thereof.

Posted by: o | October 27, 2009 5:29 PM
She deserves it.
In America, you don't have to be good, you just have to be lucky.
She was lucky enough to have legs that could charm the ambition out of a U.S. Senator - namely, John McCain, who, after seeing Palin in person, is quoted as having said, "Screw the presidency. I want to ride her on a bus for three months. I mean, I want to ride a bus with her for three months."
And the rest is American history.

Ahhhh, "former republican," er Deranged and Demented John E., or is that Dumb Dumb Janet, discusses the low IQ of conservatives. But the reality is that it's the Left that is about as dumb as roadkill.
Conservatives believe that people can do a better job of taking care of themselves = Smart.
Liberals believe the government can do a better job of taking care of them = Dumb.
Conservatives believe that lower taxes lead to prosperity = Smart.
Liberals believe high taxes lead to prosperity = Dumb.
Conservatives believe freedom is the best way of life = Smart.
Liberals do not believe in freedom = Dumb.
Conservatives believe less government is often better = Smart.
Liberals believe more government is better = Dumb.
Conservatives learn to think for themselves = Smart.
Liberals just plain don't believe in learning = Dumb.
Conservatives believe a strong defense makes a strong country = Smart.
Liberals believe in weakness and indecision = Dumb.
Conservatives don't believe in man-made global warming = Smart.
Liberals think the planet is heating up and we'll all melt in less than 50 years = Dumb.
The evidence is clear as to whom is smarter. I could go on, but the only ones who would understand it are the smart ones -- conservatives. Liberals will continue to believe what the government will tell them to think.

Palin is personally responsible for the anti-Obama hate going on right now. The Secret Service asked her to stop inciting people and she didn't.
She and her followers are a direct threat to the first black President and his family.
How Oprah can give airtime to this trainwreck is beyond understanding for me. UNLESS she uses the time to call her out on her "REAL Americans" crap.

Why was it necessary for this author to put in the satirist title? Is it yet one more attempt for the MSM to continue to ridicule Ms. Palin? It only discredits the Tribune and this blog.

I she tries to tell me ONE MORE time that she is JUST a hockey mom I'll scream. Actually - what a way to make a lot of money.
Run for Vice President but lose.
Quit your day job as Governor of Alaska (what a scatterbrain).
Have a ghost writer write a book for you.
Rake in a lot of money. Sweet.

Liberals also underestimated Reagan.
For those who voted for Obama to bring our troops home, balance the budget, close Guantanamo, bring transparency, etc., etc., how's that working out for you?
Posted by: underestimated | October 27, 2009 9:12 PM
I think Liberals hate Sarah Palin because she has more minerals then 99% of liberal men. Most liberal men are wusses and cower in fear of holding a big gun. They couldn't stand the thought of getting polar bear entrails on their cardigan turtle neck and dress shoes out in the field.Liberal men have nightmares of being out in the wild without their iPhone or Blackberry. They might miss an update on the latest episode of Gossip Girl. They wonder how to keep their fake tan intact whilst snowmobiling.Liberal men would worry about how you can't get a bottle of axe from the local tackle shop.
Liberal women hate her stunning beauty and better style then Michelle Obama. This book will be more interesting then anything Barry O "wrote",my god, have you heard Obama off the teleprompter?Uh,Duh,Uh huh.Barack Obama makes George Bush look like a Rhodes scholar.
I hope Sarah makes millions of dollars off this book, after all,she will be paying taxes through the roof to pay for all the leaches in society. It will be great to see this book sell more copies of anything the messiah has in written in stone.

Yo, Scottie, seems to me many Republicans stayed home or voted for Ross Perot because Bush, the elder, did not hold up his promise of no new taxes.
Also seems to me that most Republicans abandoned Richard Nixon.
Regarding, WMDs, well the whole world, including many Democrats thought Iraq had them. In fact, there were WMDs, not just as much or all the types it was thought.
Regarding, "Mission Accomplished," well Hussein was toppled. That was the main mission, to remove Hussein as leader of Iraq. Also seems, that outside of the tragedy a couple of days ago, Iraq is on its way to be a stable, free, friendly government and country.
Under Bush and Reagan, EVERYONE received tax cuts and, in fact, the lowest wage earners NO LONGER pay a federal income tax because of George W. Bush. Growth did occur until 2008 when because partly due to mortgage policies passed and aided by the likes of Bill Clinton, Chris Dudd and Barney Frank, which helped to bring down the housing market. But in reality, Scot, the housing market overheated. No president or Congress can do much about what folks charge for their homes and how much people are willing to pay for those homes.

Oh Mark, showing your bias as usual. It is hilarious to me how you and the rest of the liberal mental midgets get all wound up over Sarah Palin.
I look forward to reading her book and hope she enjoys much success.
Even before the book, she is in a much better financial position than Obama ever was. His books put him in the millionaire category. But before then, at the convention in which he gave his speech that introduce him to those unfamiliar with him, he left the convention broke, credit cards maxed out, no cash, had to borrow money to take a cab to the airport. The Obama's were careless with their personal money, yet the fool is now one of those responsible in handling the monetary affairs of our country. Read about it. I have read his books as well, I am not closed minded like many of the posters on here or for liberals in general.

Still Unclean Dumb Dumb Janet, not sure of any House or Senate members who have talked about birth certificates. Death panels? Well, perhaps a few, my dirty little girl, but ObimboCare does call for a panel to review medical decisions. Haven't heard anything about conservative concentration camps, so I would imagine you got it from some loony left website.
Now as far as school children indoctrination, well there is this evidence:

Lil Johnny DiaperBoy,
You haven't heard about Repukelicans fearmongering about "conservative concentration camps" etc because you've got your head stuck in that fantasy land that Fake News Channel and Druggy Rush creates for you everyday.
"Earlier this summer, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) waged a high-profile, wildly-dishonest campaign against the Census. The Minnesota congresswoman said she was so worried about the threat of the government asking “very intricate questions” and collecting information that she would illegally refuse to fill out the form. “They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public,” she said. “This is very concerning.” She repeatedly used inflammatory and fear-mongering rhetoric against the Census":
– “If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the census bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations, at the request of President Roosevelt, and that’s how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps.” [6/25/09]
“You will receive approximately six contacts from them [Census workers], either through phone calls or they will knock on your door. If you still do not give them the information, they said they’ll contact your neighbor to the left of you, to the right of you to get information.” [6/25/09]

And you want to talk about indoctrination of school children Lil Johnny? I'm guessing in your deluded mind such fake outrage can only be directed at the scary black Democrat who forged his birth certificate...not the benevolent white Republican (Bush) who saved New Orleans from the hurricane, right?
