FACT: worldwide temps have fallen the past two years.
FACT: worldwide temps have stabilized past 10 years.
FACT: some of the coldest weather on record throughout the world, and particulary North America in 2009.
FACT: Ice cover has remained the same past few decades.
FACT: global warming scientists say they never saw the slowdown in temps experienced the past few years from occurring. Yet, even though they never saw the downturn happening (and even though it is in the NOW), they still say in 10 to 20 years the warmup will proceed.
FACT: there are many distortions and lies in the "Oscar winning Al Bore movie."
FACT: temps warmed while there was an increase in sunspot acitity. Temps have cooled while sunspot activity has ceased.
FACT: temps on Mars warmed too, thanks to sunspot activity.
FACT: Al Bore's home is an environmental hazard. Al Bore has made $100 million peddling this nonsense. Al Bore flied on private jets when he could fly on commercial airlines, therefore helping the environment.
FACT: those on the Left and those who continually report that global warming is settled science cotinue to show they have no clue nor brains to think critically and intelligently.

Once again, a solution in search of a problem.

Ya we know that! but what you dont get is that this normal cooling period is WARMER than any previous cooling periods. We know that cooling and warming periods are normal for the earth!! Scientist Scot knows the variations of the Earth's cooling and warming periods over the last Million years?? Did you use your scientific computer models to get that one right?

Al Gore's so-called movie documentary and book plays like a Michael Moore movie that cherry picks the facts and does not bring up contrary views. Although evidence of the past can be scanty the world has always gone through some type of climate change. A good documented book is THE LITTLE ICE AGE by Anthropology Emeritus Professor Brian Fagan at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Fagan outlines climate changes including warming periods and a cooling period called "The Little Ice Age." I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about climate changes.

1) October 2009 had the second-lowest ice extent for the month over the 1979 to 2009 period.

2) Monthly October ice extent for 1979 to 2009 shows a steady decline of 5.9% per decade.

3) Multi-year sea ice is being replaced by first year sea ice only.

4) October 19, 2009: One of the most dramatic signals of the general Arctic-wide warming trend in recent years is the continued significant reduction in the extent of the summer sea ice cover and the decrease in the amount of relatively older, thicker ice. The extent of the 2009 summer sea ice cover was the third lowest value of the satellite record (beginning in 1979) and >25% below the 1979 - 2000 average.

5) Both winter and summer ice extent exhibit a negative trend, with values of -2.5 % per decade for March and -8.9 % per decade for September over the period 1979-2009.

Sorry to disturb you with some facts, but you might look up an article on Gore in the business magazine Fast Company.

Gore was a consultant to Google before it went public and had stock options that made him in the 8 figures when Google did go public.

Also he co founded a cable tv network, Current TV, which has been quite successful. The two reporters held by North Korea and released earlier this year were Current TV reporters.

That is how Gore made money. He donated the Nobel Peace Prize he received for his environmental work to charity.

The right wingers have a nasty habit of making up their own "facts".

Don't believe anything they say. They're impeached.

I agree with Mr. Gore that a carbon tax is the better of the two options. A carbon tax is straightforward, transparent, avoids the market manipulation inherent to cap and trade, incentivizes green R&D AND returns the revenue to the people.

The Little Ice Age took hold over a short time, 20 years. The start of the Dark ages (1300) and ended around 1870.

The cause of the Little Ice Age is unknown, but many people have pointed at the coincidence in low sunspot activity and the timing of the Little Ice. This so called Maunder Minimum coincided with the coldest part of the Little Ice Age, in particular during the period roughly from 1645 to 1715, when sunspots were a rare occurrence, as noted by solar observers such as Galileo. A minimum in sunspots, indicates an inactive and possibly colder sun and qonsequently less energy output to warm the earth.

At this time we have a low in sunspot activity. Add a few volcanic eruptions or just one really big one and bang we will have a year or two with out a summer.

And I ask will the left still blame man for it?

And lets not forget the Medieval Warm Period. Its funny how the left forgets all the facts from the past.

The Medieval Warm Period was a time of warm climate in Europe. The warmest part of the Medieval Warm Period was from about 950 until 1100 A.D. The warm climate overlaps with a time of high solar activity called the Medieval Maximum. The Medieval Warm Period occurred before the Little Ice Age, a time of cool climate in Europe and other places around the world. The graph on the left shows a reconstruction of average global temperatures over the past 1000 years with temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period similar to the first part of the 20th Century, cooler temperatures during the Little Ice Age, and dramatic warming in recent decades. The Medieval Warm Period was likely cooler than the past few decades.

According to some archaeologists, the Vikings may have been better able to explore and colonize many areas in Northern Europe while the climate was relatively warm during the Medieval Warm Period because there was less sea ice. They traveled by boats to Greenland among other places through seas that would later become blocked by sea ice during the Little Ice Age.

The Little Ice Age

The Little Ice Age was a time of cooler climate in most parts of the world. Although there is some disagreement about exactly when the Little Ice Age started, records suggest that temperatures began cooling around 1250 A.D. The coldest time was during the 16th and 17th Centuries. By 1850 the climate began to warm.

During the Little Ice Age, average global temperatures were 1-1.5 degree Celsius (2-3 degrees Fahrenheit) cooler than they are today. The cooler temperatures were caused by a combination of less solar activity and large volcanic eruptions. Cooling caused glaciers to advance and stunted tree growth. Livestock died, harvests failed, and humans suffered from famine and disease.

The Little Ice Age was not a true ice age because it did not get cold enough for long enough to cause ice sheets to grow larger. The cooling likely affected areas around the world but we have the most records of how it changed daily life from Europe. Some of the records and events that occurred during the Little Ice Age are listed below.

* Fur trappers reported that southern Hudson Bay remained frozen for about 3 weeks longer each spring.
* Fishermen reported large amounts of sea ice floating in the North Atlantic.
* British people saw Eskimos paddling canoes off the coast of England.
* Alpine (mountain) glaciers grew larger. In some cases, the ice engulfed mountain villages.
* Winters were longer and growing seasons shorter according to tree ring data and records of cherry tree flowering.
* Wet weather caused disease that affected people, animals and crops including the bubonic plague (also called the Black Death). This disease killed more than a third of Europeans.
* Farms and villages in Northern Europe were deserted because the farmers couldn’t grow crops in the cooler climate. During the harshest winters, bread had to be made from the bark of trees because grains would no longer grow.
* Limited crops and unhealthy livestock caused famine in areas of northern and Eastern Europe. Unlike today, there was no way to transport food around the world to areas where crops had failed and people were hungry.

Sorry Scot. The start of The Little Ice Ago was over short time frame. It dropped a few degrees in about 20 years at its start. And right now like in the time of the Little Ice Age we have a low in solar activity. Ten years ago the solar activity was higher and hit a perk around that time. With the low in solar activity a few volcanic eruptions or just one really big one and bang we will have a year or two with out a summer in Northeastern United States, New England, the Canadian Maritimes, Newfoundland, and Northern Europe like in 1816.

Like I said before there are things we can do ( and I have in my home). But, there is more to this then just humans. And a lot of things we can do nothing about.
