I have handled many foreclosures and every borrower I worked with insisted they were fully aware of the potential problems and consequences when they signed the documents

This has some truthiness to it, so it is worth noting.

In Gore's case, he acted arrogant and got womped for it.

In Kerry's case, 9/11 + 9/11 + 9/11 was too much to overcome.

Fact is, though, the expectations for GW are soooo low that just showing up for him is a victory. Same goes for HOT LEGS (Palin).
