Chelsea Clinton is engaged.
The only child of the former president and current secretary of state is engaged to be married to the son of a former congressman from Iowa and congresswoman from Pennsylvania: Investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.
The two were friends as teenagers and studied together at Stanford University.
The two live in New York, he employed by Goldman Sachs, she attending graduate school at Columbia University's School of Public Health.
Matt McKenna, a spokesman for former President Bill Clinton, confirmed the engagement today, the Associated Press reports.
Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, longtime Clinton friends. Ed Mezvinsky was released from federal prison last year after pleading guilty in 2002 to charges of bank and wire fraud.
Chelsea Clinton had campaigned widely last year for her mother's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, author of It Takes a Village (to raise a child) became secretary of state in the administration of President Barack Obama.
The AP contributed to this report.

Wow, I sure am glad those budget cuts and bankruptcy struggles aren't cutting into the Trib's ability to write a basic, grammatically correct sentence.
Note: I just being snarky. *eyeroll*

Jenna,

It takes one to know one.
Do not judge, so you will not be judged

So the daughter of these great leaders of the Democratic Party, the supposed party of the poor and downtrodden, is marrying a investment banker from Goldman Sachs. What a crock!!!!!
Posted by: lnbee | November 30, 2009 12:29 PM
Congratulations and best wishes to her. I may detest the policies of her parents and what they keep trying to do to this country, but that is no reason for me to hate on her. I hope they are happry together, outside of politics.

How can his parents be Congress-people from two different states? No more professional pliticians. We need term limits.

It has to make Hillary and Bill squirm knowing that taking the last name Mezvinsky rymthes with the last name Lewinsky. Im just sayin!!

I love how much the right wing still hates the Clintons. They just can't get over how successful Bill was: Bill presided over the most prosperous decade in all recorded history, then Bush came along and squandered it all and sank us into a never ending swamp of war and debt and bankrupted the country.
No wonder the cons hate the Clintons. Bill was the greatest president since FDR, and Hillary still reigns as Secretary of State, so naturally they will hate their daughter.

Understandably you are dragging your feet at today's Monday morning and perhaps still in a food coma from Thanksgiving, but you can seriously write a little better than this.
Congrats to Chelsea though. Maybe two wrong dads can make a right marriage.

Hey Spike, that is grammatically correct. Maybe they could have put a ":" or a ";" before the word "he" to make it flow better...

Congratulations I am very happy for both families. I know both families are proud of the upcoming marriage. And Chelsea has become such a stunning woman, the fiance should consider it an honor to become a Clinton family member. And yes, i am a HUGE Bill and Hillary fan. If only Hillary could have won the election, things would be much better than they are now.

To OSD:
Your are incorrect by claiming that former President Clinton is a felon: As Media Matters for America has noted, the Senate acquitted Clinton on both articles of impeachment, one of which was perjury.
Bill Clinton is not a "covicted felon"

Erick, c'mon now. Yes, the lare '90's were a boom time for the USA, but all Clinton did was cut military spending. Clinton can't take full credit for the tech-boom and cheap oil, which fueled to great economic growth during the time. Clinton is a great international diplomat, but he gets more credit than he deserves sometimes.

Yes, because we are right! The left conveniently ignores the fact that Bill was disbarred in Arkansas for committing perjury. And Hillary is the biggest liar of all. She did nothing for NY and of course had no intention to run for president when she ran for Senate here. Could you imagine having her for amother-in-law. God bless Mr. Mezvinsky

Who care about you, the product of a hateful right-wing mania with the IQ of an amoeba? By the way, will the right wingnuts call back and complain the next time a news story appears about the Bush children or will they demonstrate their usual hypocrisy?
Posted by: Disgusted | November 30, 2009 7:16 PM
Congratulations to Chelsea! And to those disparaging her parents, what exactly did you hate more about the Clinton years, the peace or the prosperity?
I'm just sayin'.
Posted by: cimbal | November 30, 2009 10:11 PM
Ah, the bitter right. How they hate the Clintons. Sad, really. Contrary to the hate spewed by Jenna, as I New Yorker I can say that Hillary did a LOT for us. She would have been re-elected in a landslide had she run again. Her approval ratings ran in the high 60's to mid 70's.
We love the Clintons. Either one of them, or Chelsea for that matter, is welcome back anytime they want to return.
Posted by: erick | November 30, 2009 10:49 PM
I'm not a big fan of the Clintons, but their daughter should be chastised.
Let's not forget that parents are not responsible for the sins of their children, and likewise Chelsea is not responsible for her two slugs called parents.
