The Swamp

Sarah Palin, author of Going Rogue, says the Army psychiatrist, a Muslim, accused of killing 13 and wounding 29 at Fort Hood, Texas, should have been "profiled'' before the shootings.

" I certainly do,'' Palin says in an interview that will air on FOX News' Hannity this evening, "and I think that there were massive warning flags that were missed all over the place, and I think that it was quite unfortunate that, to me, it was a fear of being politically incorrect to not -- I am going to use the word -- profile this guy, profile in the sense of finding out what his radical beliefs were.''

Palin, who is promoting her new memoir with a national book tour beginning in Grand Rapids this evening, tells FOX's Sean Hannity that her views about Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, held in the shooting spree that shocked Fort Hood, the Army and a nation are likely to get liberal "heads.. spinning.''

"Now, because I used the word profile, I am going to get clobbered tomorrow morning,'' Palin says in the interview, her first with a cable TV news network, the leading one in this case. "The liberals, their heads are just going to be spinning. They're going to say she is radical, she is extreme.

""But I say profiling in the context of doing whatever we can to save innocent American lives, I'm all for it, then."

(Pictured above, a man waiting in line for the signing of Sarah Palin's new book at a bookstore in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Photo by Bill Pugliano / Getty Images)

The Republican former governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee says in the interview - and she isn't giving a lot of these talks at the start of the book tour, only speaking with Oprah Winfrey, ABC's Barbara Walters, Hannity and Christian Broadcasting - that she hopes to play a significant role in the future.

"I want to help those worthy causes like special needs, making sure that our world is a more welcoming world for the most special ones,'' says the mother of five, whose youngest was born with Down syndrome. "Don't know if necessarily that means running for higher office, but you know, my life is in God's hands, and I'm seeking that path that he would have me on...

"You're going to hear a lot from me,'' Palin says. "So, you know, the haters are going to have a whole lot of material. Tina Fey, she may have a whole lot of material coming up."

She cannot offer any prediction about her plans for 2012 - "I wish that I could predict and - and prepare for what's going to happen in four years,'' she tells Hannity.

She says this about the campaign past - the worst moment was having her personal emails hacked "and then being broadcast around the world.. '' And her return to public life has had its choice moments as well, such as the Newsweek magazine cover picturing her in tights, a photo taken for Runner's World magazine - "It was just -- just another little shot,'' Palin says.

"But in the grand scheme of things, of course, things like that really don't amount to a hill of beans, when there are many things that are going wrong, something's going right, but something's going wrong in our country that people want to hear about and talk about...

"I think that the American people, they're tiring of the tabloidization of some people, like me. And they want to get to the issues,'' says Palin, who suggested in an interview with ABC that the Israelis should be allowed to continue expansion of settlements in Palestinian territories and that President Barack Obama should listen to what his generals are telling him to do in Afghanistan and that the president, as far as his economic policies are concerned, has things "backassward.''

"As a person, I think he's very charismatic, quite articulate,'' Palin says of Obama in her talk with Hannity. "Very, very talented as a politician.'' (Obama says he wishes her well, too, but "probably won't'' be reading that book of hers.) "I'd like to see him put all of those God-given talents that he's so full of to better use for America."

Asked if she believes, as FOX's own Glenn Beck has argued, that Obama is a radical, Palin says, "I will not hesitate to say that his associates have been extremely radical and we see that then in some of the appointments he has made."

Also, she finally has an answer for Katie Couric's famous campaign question of the vice presidential candidate about what sources of news she reads for information.

"I read Newsmax and the Frontiersman (the local newspaper in Wasilla, Ala., where Palin was mayor, which notes today that Palin's book tour has folks wondering if this is the start of a campaign) and Wall Street Journal and everything online,'' Palin says. "I absorb the news via many, many sources."

What an idiot. So I guess we should also start profiling christians with white supremist attitudes in the military too? You know, like Timothy McVeigh.

And by the way, if anyone dropped the ball on this it was the Bushco Republicans - seeing as how Hassan first popped up on their rader back in 2007.

First hand knowledge or riding the wings of rhetoric....?????

We should have "profiled" Todd's allegiance to the Alaskan independence party.

Huh?

Does Palin know the meaning of discrimination ? Does she know a document called the US constitution ? Since Timothy McVeigh was white should we profile every white soldier ?

Why stop there, Sarah? I hear the man accused of multiple counts of rape and assault in Cleveland is black. Let’s profile all black people! It will end rape and assault in America! And you know how there was a Mexican immigrant who got busted for possession of cannabis? Let’s profile all Hispanics! It will end drug use!

Does anyone in todays version of the whack-a-doodle Republican Party even know what the Constitution is?

Profile all the muslims. Keep this country safe. Deport all the illegals as well.

What Palin suggests is merely common sense. And practiced by every security force in the world, including our own.

The danger to America comes not from rampaging Bears fans, but from "Allahu Akbar" shouting Muslims who put "Soldier of Allah" on their business cards. Those who deny this believe in the Tooth Fairy and think the Earth is flat.

I agree libs, we should of course subject elderly women to the same scrutiny we would accord middle eastern, unshaven, bitter looking men as they board commercial flights.

I also agree with you libs that Hasan was merely expressing his displeasure for military assignment to the illegal occupation. He did the only thing he could do, shooting up the camp. Let's seek to understand him, embrace the enemy, and punish those who would question his conscientious objector status.

America’s elite and Palin-haters worldwide should not be so quick to dismiss or disregard the future of Sarah Palin. No other national political figure so completely fills Middle America’s vacuum of frustration and hate for the Left and Right as Sarah Palin.

Middle America has been abandoned by the Left and Right, who have saddled it with a $700 billion taxpayer bailout, an unnecessary and costly war, a soaring deficit, and an overall neglect of the pocketbook issues that impact Middle America every day. Where are job creation, quality public education, affordable healthcare, and fiscal responsibility, to name a few?

Middle America is mad as hell at the Left and Right and they just might be willing to roll the dice on someone like Palin, who lacks an Ivy League education, is a working class hockey-mom with a disabled child, and who has blue-collar roots like many of the folks in Middle America. The status quo on the Left and Right have produced nothing material for Middle America, which may toss conventional wisdom into the toilet and throw the lever for Palin, figuring it has nothing to lose, and it may be right.

The Ivy League educated on the Left and Right have delivered little to nothing for Middle America, perhaps precisely because they are out of touch with the issues that someone like Palin understands personally.

However, to say that Palin is a salmon swimming upstream is an understatement. The results of a CBS News survey released Monday indicate that 66 percent of respondents do not want her to run for the White House in 2012. Seventy percent of respondents to a CNN/Opinion Research poll said she is not qualified to be president.

More difficult for Palin is the fact that the trend is not her friend—public opinion is moving in the wrong direction right now.

In the CBS survey, 43 percent of GOP respondents said Palin would have the ability to be an effective president. Only 11 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of independents agreed.

However, there is an opportunity for Palin among independents, where Palin’s rating is 41 percent favorable, and 48 percent unfavorable, according to Gallup.

These numbers are not great, but there is plenty of time if she can move the needle by appealing to Middle America and independents, which is where elections are won or lost.

Clearly, Palin has put the monkey on her back, especially with her resignation from Alaska’s governorship in July, a self-inflicted wound that will be difficult to explain away. However, don’t put it past Palin to put lipstick on this pig and paint herself as a victim of politically motivated and baseless ethics charges that prevented her from successfully serving the people of Alaska, forcing her to do the noble thing and take the bullet by resigning.

We can say what we want about Palin, but no Republican in recent history has created such frenzied excitement across the country as she has. Just take a look at the fervor she stirs as she wheels across Middle America on her book tour.

Perhaps this is a misreading of the tea leaves, but one could argue that she creates a wee bit more excitement than Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee, the two Republican front-runners for president in 2012. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed woman just may be queen.

Sarah Palin's picture on the cover of this weeks NEWSWEEK looks great. The Left Wing Crazies that hate Palin so much are lucky that this is not Italy. The Italians would probably elect her with that picture. She looks great!

Maybe we should profile dumb-as-a-rock politicians who quit their jobs and lie about the past. I hope Sarah is around for a long time. Along with Bill-O, Hannity, Druggie-Rush, and crazy Glenn.

The more visible they are, the less likely it is for the Bull-Moose party of the 21st century to succeed beyond the padded walls of people like John D, kooky as always.

She looks great!

Nice try Brucie,

Is it any wonder that Palin didn't bring up the growing problem of right wing domestic terrorism in America? I mean afterall, just within the first 10 months of this year we've had right wing domestic terrorists murdering a doctor in Kansas, shooting up a Holocaust Museum and killing a security guard, mass murdering police officers in Pittsburgh because a guy thought his guns were going to be taken away by Obama, etc, etc.

No, you don't hears Wingnuts talking about this, they just cheer from the sidelines, both before and after the fact. People like Limbaugh or network shills like Faux News have been stoking these flames for years and years, and then rationalize the resultant violence while refusing to accept any culpability.

That excuse is getting OLD. Bush this, Bush that. This is Obamas show now, move on.

Yeah Crazy Sarah, I say yes let's do it and while we at it lets profile your Todd for his being a member of a secessionist movement, shall we?

And lets not just profile one religion either, as the wacko christian Taliban on your side are just as extreme as radical muslims are.

Heres a novel idea Wingnuts, why don't we wait and see how the Army`s investigation goes?

Try again Lil' Jimmy,

It's Sarah the Stupid herself who's crying about the Newsweek cover, not the Dems.

More hypocrisy from Wingnut nation...

And by the way, this ain't Italy, you clown.

“The liberals, their heads are just going to be spinning, they’re going to say, ’she is radical, she is extreme.’” - Sarah Palin

Sounds like Sarah doesn’t like to be profiled. What a shock!.....not.

What an idiot. So I guess we should also start profiling christians with white supremist attitudes in the military too? You know, like Timothy McVeigh.

Timothy McVeigh was out of the military when he blew up the building. Yes, profile violent groups that commit acts of terrorism, DUH. Or, do you think that everybody's GRANNY should be strip searched just to make sure. You don't need to check 99% of the population that boards a plane. But we do, just to make the liberals feel better.

By the way what profile did Janet Reno use to justify her killing over 70 innocent people?

Lets' see, investigators knew Hasan was e-mailing Al Qaeda. They knew he was spewing anti-U.S venom as well as Loony Islam hate. They knew he praised suicide bombers. Yet, nothing was done. THAT is what Palin was getting at. If something was done, 14 people would still be alive today, and dozens more would not have been injured.
Yet, the worthless moronic loons on the Left don't get that.

I wonder how long of a line it would be if it was a Joe Biden book signing???
Sarah palin is a force that scares the crap out of the looney left and the democratic party.

Paulo

So Sarah the Stupid believes that political correctness is for fools and racial profiling is the way to stop violence?

Thing is, if (as she tells Sean Hannity) "liberals' heads explode" over her comments, it'll be due to exposure to utter stupidity.

And for those acts of domestic terrorism, you know, the kind that is grown right here in the US and committed by right wing white people (like, say, Oklahoma City or the shooting of Dr. Tiller or the attack on the Holocaust muesuem in D.C. or every bombing commited by the Unibomber) - what profile do you suggest we use, Sarah?

Not to mention the other shootings that have been perpetrated by WHITE, CHRISTIAN soldiers. Those do not get as much media attention, but they exist.

This is what's become of the Republican party. "Saint" Ronny Reagan brought the far right lunatic fringe in, but he only paid lip service to their social agenda for the most part. In the years since however they have become entrenched in the party, and they are setting their agenda.

The results are nutbags like Palin, Huckabee, and the Republican party's very own Joseph Goebbels - Crazy Glenn Beck.

Dazzle the public with a sea of waving American flags, and grand speeches exalting the value of the "American way of life" all the while masking their true extremist agenda.

Dear Repugs are Idiots, er Demented and Deranged John E:
Here are some FACTS for you:
1. The Holocaust shooter was a loony lib. He also had the Weekly Standard, a conservative publication, on his radar screen.
2, Most domestic terrorist acts in the country are committed by your ilk, folks like ELF. Anyway:
http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/left.pdf

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecoterrorism

And then, of course, while the TEA Party protests were peaceful, we've had these lefty losers:

http://www.sodahead.com/entertainment/do-you-agree-with-the-g20-protests-against-capitalism-should-they-vandalize-businesses-to-protest/question-644257/

Then we have the fact that most in the military are Southern Christians. So, those folks protect your right to be a total loser dumba**.

Demoncrap spawn: truly THE worst mankind has to offer.

So why didn't the "tough on terror" clowns (Bush and Cheney) do something about it?

OH my the nuts on the Left can not wait. One day they will see the real world because are out in their own little one.

Palin and the Tea Party Movement my its getting good. Both of them are going to drive the Left nuts. The Left can not even see what is going on and its right in front of them. Funny stuff, its going to be great seeing the the Left spin and spin and not get it.

@ Lil' Johnny D,
Are you really this stupid? I don't know what Druggy Rush and Fake News Channel are telling you but White Supremacists (like the Holocaust Museum shooter) are a product of the right, not the left. So the guy had a beef with the Weekly Standard, big deal.

If you had put your hatred for Sarah Palin and narrow mind aside you would have read that I Never said that this was Italy in my Post. All I did say was that she did look great on the cover of Newsweek and the Italians would probably elect someone like that. You need to quit watching Keith Olbermann or any of the Far Left and Right Commentators on MSNBC and Fox at night. It is affecting your rational thinking..

I believe we should start profiling. I worry that many doctors are being killed by religious extremists. We need to check for these extremists at all entrances to any medical facility and frisk them for crosses, rosary beads, and bibles. Any found with these potential warning signs on their persons should automatically send up a red flag and bar them from entry.

Rock: I'm having trouble with a couple of the Q's on the test. Can you post the answers?

Silly Libs. No pattern here.

instead of profiling i belive this may help HELP CONTROL THE TERRORIST POPULATION HAVE YOUR REPUBLICAN SPADE OR NUTTERED, it works for pets so it should work for puppets

Good one, Rock.

Palin and the Tea Party. The Left will feel it. And we know what happened in NY 23, so spin it anyway you want. Its only for a year.
