For Sarah Palin, self-styled Rogue of the Right, "the cause goes on.''

On that shining page upon a Facebook.

Palin, former governor of Alaska, had reached out to the rural upstate New York congressional district where Republicans had prevailed for decades but where party leaders had nominated someone too liberal for the tastes of the national party's most conservative leaders. She urged voters to choose a Conservative Party candidate over the Republican canidadate. The Republican, in turn, bowed out and endorsed the Democrat. And the Democrat won, for the first time there since the Civil War.

Palin's take on that defeat today: "The race for New York's 23rd District is not over, just postponed until 2010.''

That's when Democrat Bill Owens will have to face the voters again, after winning a special election this week to fill the seat of former Rep. John McHugh, the Republican whom President Barack Obama named secretary of the Army.

Democrats have attempted to portray what went on there as a modern-day Civil War for the GOP, the party's right wing unable to tolerate any voices of moderation, such as the local GOP nominee, pro-abortion rights, pro gay-marriage, pro economic stimulus. But, as the nation's eyes turn to other races where moderate Republicans are facing more conservative rivals -- such as Florida, where a popular Gov. Charlie Crist faces a fight with a conservative lawmaker for the GOP's 2010 Senate nomination -- Palin maintains that the bigger issue of these races remains to be settled in '10.

Reagan.jpg

"The issues of this election have always centered on the economy - on the need for fiscal restraint, smaller government, and policies that encourage jobs,'' Palin writes on the Facebook forum where she makes her arguments these days. "In 2010, these issues will be even more crucial to the electorate.

"To the tireless grassroots patriots who worked so hard in that race and to future citizen-candidates... please remember Reagan's words of encouragement after his defeat in 1976,'' Palin writes today: "The cause goes on. Don't get cynical because look at yourselves and what you were willing to do, and recognize that there are millions and millions of Americans out there that want what you want, that want it to be that way, that want it to be a shining city on a hill."

"The cause goes on,'' she writes.

Reagan, too, lost to a moderate Republican, Gerald Ford, in that first bid for the GOP's nomination in '76, which also led to the election of a Democrat, Jimmy Carter, as president. But Reagan would make plentiful use of that "shining city upon a hill'' during his career, at the launch of a national bid, at a time of failure, at times of success (two winning nominations for the White House) and at retirement.

The failed candidate for vice president from Wasilla, who played her hand and lost in the 23rd district of New York, but still fights from Facebook, won't be giving up her own playbook that easily.

(Sarah Palin is pictured above accepting the GOP's nomination for vice president in Minnesota last year in an AP photo. The late President Ronald Reagan is pictured in a White House photo.

The Gospel according to The Sarah:

1:1 In the beginning, there was The Sarah
1:2 And The Sarah was stuck in a stupid job in a dead-end state where it was cold
1:3 And then The Sarah was discovered by the genius Bill Kristol
1:4 And She was appointed the VP candidate of John McCain
1:5 And McCain lost the election despite the unflagging brilliance of the efforts of The Sarah
1:6 For The Sarah errs not, neither stumbles, and her interviewing skills are beyond reproach
1:7 And on the seventh day The Sarah wrote a book..er uh, wrote a check to the person who wrote the book.

Republicans are so encased in their own sense of rightness and their peculiar worldview that prevents them from seeing reality that they will continue to do what they have done over the last several years - go down in flames.

They think the rest of the world is wrong, not them. They really believe that their crash-and-burn is some sort of fleeting anomaly and not the result of them promoting whackjobs like Palin as their leaders.

"The issues of this election have always centered on the economy - on the need for fiscal restraint, smaller government, and policies that encourage jobs"

I agree with you liberals. What a stupid idea to stop the insane run-away Big government spending that will bankrupt the country and leave us in debt to China. Full speed ahead spend it and tax anybody who has a free market dime. In fact, just outlaw money. And who needs jobs when we have hope and change and can just have things like free healthcare. Everybody is entitled to free healthcare and we should force doctors and nurses to work 12 hours shifts for free to accomplish that goal. Under Obama's economic plan, we don't need no stinkin' jobs, besides the government will just take away anything that you earn through taxes so what's the use of working!

That Palin, she's crazy.

Big Government had nothing to do with the trillions of dollars in debt, this nation had build up in the last 8 years !! If you think that, I have a privatized prison I want to sell you. The Weasels of Wall Street and the Bandits in the Boardrooms are just a few of the culprits, Big Business has, rifling our pockets !! From the Pharmaceuticals, to the Healthcare Corporations, to the slick Oil Corporations, those are the thieves that have stolen our future. You are right in one small respect, it was during the Bush&Cheney disaster, that the lines between the two entities blurred, particularly during the War and Occupation of Iraq and the Wall Street Scam. For those two moments, we will be paying a debt for some years, but it beats another Great Depression, that we were facing, had not President Obama stimulated the economy. Like it or not, as long as Big Business wields a big stick, I want our government to wield a bigger stick.
On a related topic, I fervently hope Attorney General Holder will begin the investigation and prosecution of the frauds of Wall Street, and else where. The misery their greed has visited upon this nation, must not go unpunished !!! Also, those anti-trust exemptions for the Health Care Insurance Corps must end, now. Their greediness is killing us !! Let them compete in the marketplace like all the other legitimate Corps !! Stop them from sucking the life out of their clients/patients, now !! Real Healthcare Reform, now !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Yo, so-called former republican, actually your little ditty there is more like that of Obimbo. THE most narcissistic politician in this country's history, thinks the whole world revolves around him, except of course, when things don't go as planned. Then it's someone else's fault.

It is a riot, though, how Sarah Palin unhinges the Loony Left and become even more unhinged than they normally are.

Yeah, stay on FB, Scarah...it's where you belong.

Sarah Palin/Fabio 2012!

Gary......it's not that those issues need to be addressed, it's just she is the wrong one to attempt it. She couldn't even handle her job for the Alaskan people,

Keep it up Sarah- Americas knows you are against Socalism and Dictator ship in America. Sarah you are just good young USA.

hi, Lauren:

> They think the rest of the world is wrong, not them.

you must be talking to yourself. perhaps you are sleepwalking. i am a foreigner. i don't think the rest of the world prefer hillary(aka obama) than palin.

do i need to do a poll on this for you? or you can come here and listen to the rest of the world? or maybe you mean the rest of the world is kenya?

i don't think the rest of the world prefer hillary(aka obama) than palin.

LOL! I guess you dont read the polls. Last year before the election Clinton beat out Palin by 57% to Palins measly 35%.

And as recently as this past August Clinton beat out Palin 51% to 39%

Keep dreaming!!

All Palin did was endorse Hoffman on Facebook (!!!) and got a 13% Hoffman to a nearly 50% reach.

The democrats spent time and millions to get Owens elected.
The Obama White House is more pathetic than anyone could have ever imagined, and they are in gutter-level of pathetic.

Palin is on the brain of these liberals and they are scared to death of her. If she is such a loser as they claim, why do they obsess over her?

Same could be said about the way you lunatics obsessed over HRC.
Ifyou think we are ''Scared to death'' of Palin, you really need to get out of your fox hole buddy! What we are ''Scared to death'' of is that lunatics like her and you still exist in this day and age. Get a grip man!

Ronald Reagan, the most overrated President in U.S. history. Reagan was a Democrat his entire life until he met Nancy Davis. Reagan was the first U.S. President to be divorced. Reagan was an actor (his movies were dull and boring). Reagan fell asleep at most meetings he attended. Reagan's buzzword was...Communism even though he was never exposed to Communism or lived under a Communist regime. Reagan takes credit for the fall of the Berlin Wall even though that occurred after Ronnie was out of the White House. Reaganomics resulted in deficits in the hundreds of billions of dollars. The list goes on and on and on. Reagan will best be know for Iran Contra and sending unarmed marines into a war zone in Beirut Lebanon where in October 1983, 241 of them were blown up in a suicide truck bombing. Very shortly thereafter Reagan pulled all forces out of Lebanon.
Ronald Reagan, the most overrated President in U.S. history. But I will say, Palin is no Ronald Reagan. You betcha.

Hey Scott,

Do you ever read your own posts to check to see if they are consistent - that they make sense both logically and rhetoric point-of-view?

Perhaps you should.

Of course this would require you to have some skills in logic and analysis...skills that you have yet to prove you own.

OMG!!!!!This woman is dangerous and narciscistic..To even have her name associated with Reagan is downright sinful....Wake up America..She is a deceitful, manipulative joke to society!!!!!!!!Our Country has enough problems without her inserting her radical opinions..

Nothing like a Silva Palin article to bring out the Loony Leftie Trolls enmasse!!!

Perhaps my posts are over your head thats stuck in a FOX hole? My last two posts are pretty clear.

HRC beats Palin in the polls and Liberals obsess over Palin because it frightens them to know that their are still idiots who still think she is relevant. What parts of those posts dont you understand Chris? Or is it Terry?

Sorry righties I made another spelling error, I said their when I meant there, ok. Better?

Scot,

You contradict yourself within your own post.

You say: "Ifyou think we are ''Scared to death'' of Palin, you really need to get out of your fox hole buddy!" Implying that you are not scared to death of Palin.

The very next sentence, you say: "What we are ''Scared to death'' of is that lunatics like her and you still exist in this day and age."

So, you can understand how someone could reach the conclusion that you are a complete idiot because contradict yourself, within your own post no less.

Good luck with that.

OK Chris, your point is well taken but if you cant figure out what i meant then it is you who is the idiot. Forgive me for not being so perfect like you. Now do you think we can stick to the context of this thread rather than your own ego, or do you need to throw more insults?

What the Hell? Why in the hell would you bring up Reagan? Wasn't he the one who said in 1983 that this nation "DID NOT NEED AN ENERGY PLAN" as he tore the solar panels off from the White House! That is when he scrapped the energy plan from Carter, that is still being implemented around the world! That is why these other nations are so far advanced over us in wind, solar and nuclear energy. Some vision! Also left this nation with a monster debt. Bush left this country in a terrible mess after his base (wall street and the financials) brought the world to its knee's with their crooks and lack of regulation. Just remember that 95 percent of the money is controled by one percent of the population! It's all about they don't want to give up any of their wealth, especially in the health care field. Ask the Frist's from Tennessee! Remember the republicans never do anything for this nation they only do things to this nation!

What the Hell? Hey Sarah quit using Sen. Ted Kennedy"s speeches to further your quest for the almighty dollar! Why don't you just go back home to Idaho, Utah, Alaska or where in the hell ever you came from! Remember the Republicans never do anything for this nation they only do things to this nation! whiteagle38
