In Washington, there are talking heads, and then there are Talking Heads. And sometimes, both of them are talking about transportation.
The Brookings Institution is playing host to several speakers this week, including a couple with something oddly in common:
David Byrne, former front man for Talking Heads.
Ray LaHood, secretary of transportation and former congressman from Peoria.
Byrne will be talking about his book, Bicycle Diaries, as part of an event called Cities for Cycling, a bid to make cities more cycle-friendly.
LaHood will be talking about the connection between investment in infrastructure and economic growth...
Bike lanes as economic stimulus?

The emails at the heart of SwiftHack were obtained from the Climatic Research Unit of a British university, and the basic conclusions of that university's work have been independently corroborated by three sets of American and Japanese researchers. So these phony Republican "complaints" amount to what they usually do - crap

What has this guy done in the past 20 years?
Shut up and Sing.

So "over do it" according to the e-mails, and other admissions by the CRU, the base data used to formulate these theories were NEVER shared, and the data has since been destroyed. So these three sets of researchers were working with results, not raw data, meaning that they didn't corroborate the way the raw data was looked at, did they?

Well, Over Do It And Have A Fit @ 2:13 p.m., your side has not proven a damn thing. First there was a “Coming Ice Age”, then when that fails to develop, it’s Global Warming, then when that can’t be supported with any kind of consistency, it’s Global Climate Change, then when it is cold when you expect it to be warm, you call it weather and not Climate.
You make a statement, you rig data, you construct models that can’t predict a damn thing with any degree of accuracy. You profile CO2 as the bad guy because it is a very safe assumption that there will always be CO2. You cannot explain the heating effect detected on Mars. Are there SUVs on Mars? Does ExxonMobil have any planet destruction retail operations on Mars? Somehow this is not considered relevant in the GW Load of Crap discussion.
You fail to acknowledge that heat precedes CO2 in any kind of thermal cycle of energy transformation NOT the other way around. You dismiss the contribution of the nuclear fusion reactions of the sun, yet somehow a Greenhouse Effect of 3% of reflected radiation energy somehow condemns this planet to doom. You ignore the temperature dependent vapor-liquid equlibria of the oceans that goes on a huge scale every second of the year, year after year. It would be highly improbable that a plausible thermodynamic envelop could ever be drawn that could support this made-up garbage.
This, Do Over, is what crap looks like, and there has never been a bigger load of crap than this. Yet, despite any attempts at logic and a fair consideration of all of the legitimate scientific data and unresolved issues, your side persists like a brutal third world dictatorship. Business as usual.
I guarantee you that a lot of money will change hands and none of it will be flowing to anyone in the consumer sector. This is just total abject insanity. Liberals are going to be in for more than a little bit of disappointment when they finally recognize that the Global Warming Climate Change CO2 Gatekeeper will be the fellas that they hate the most ~ ExxonMobil, and the new super-mega corporate giant ~ General Electric. What’s the next scam.
