President Barack Obama, who knows his way around the dictionary, certainly could not have been channeling former President George W. Bush today when he said:
"From the discussions we had, it's clear that we are on the precipice of an achievement that's eluded Congresses and presidents for generations -- an achievement that will touch the lives of nearly every American'' - that would be the passage of a health-care overhaul offering health insurance to tens of millions of uninsured Americans.
The suggestion of a precipice already was evoking the image of lemmings following the president off a cliff, but then the Republican leaders of Congress, acting in impressive simultaneous on-message fashion, were ready with their own dictionaries.
On that "precipice:"
MIRIAM-WEBSTER DICTIONARY: "1: a very steep or overhanging place; 2: a hazardous situation; broadly : brink"
-- Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell's office.
" Given the tax hikes, debt increases, and drastic cuts to Medicare in the Democrats' bill, it's an apt metaphor, since to most people, "precipice" means the edge of a dangerous cliff. Miriam-Webster's definition: 1 : a very steep or overhanging place; 2 : a hazardous situation; broadly : brink. ''

All this could lend new meaning to the concept of brinksmanship, or perhaps, as the former president with the creative tongue might have suggested, precipicopricy.

No matter that Joe Lieberman behaved very badly in getting his way on health care. The bottom line is that a yes from Joe is a big political score for the president.

As usual, the Republicans-Libertarians are up to their usual strategies, acting stupid. We all know what morons, the Republican-Libertarians elected to our Presidency and Vice-Presidency for the last 8 years. Two good for nothing draft-dodgers, who took the opportunity to line their pockets, with their own private munitions operation over in Iraq !! They proceeded to gut agencies that regulated financial activities, sponsored legislation that removed safe-guards against greed that were in place since the Great Depression. With Phil Gramm, the Great Whiner's, help, those safe-guards were removed and Greed took over and America's wealth was swept away, in the middle of the night, by the Weasels of Wall Street. Guess who was stuck with the cost of those crimes? The American Taxpayer, once again, had to bailout the financial institutions, just as it had to do, during the S&L scandal, that also featured more than a few from the Bush Danasty. Coincidence, only if you believe in the tooth fairy, like little Johnny D !! The Bushes and their ilk have raided America's treasure, anyway they could, for the past 30 years and they continue to get away with their despicable behavior.
Now, comes along a gang of Republican-Libertarians that are lying to America, every day, about how the Democrats want to harm our seniors, mistreat our sick and dying. The Republican-Libertarians lie about the Democrats wanting to take away our seniors Social Security or take away their Medicare and it is these same liars, the Republican-Libertarians, that were against Social Security and against Medicare. They drape themselves in the American flag and proceed to lie about good Americans, the Democrats in our Congress, who are trying to make life better and safer for all Americans. These despicable people, the Republican-Libertarians want to claim to be good Americans, then they lie, and terrorize our seniors, our sick, our children and our poor, worse than any foreign terrorist could do. That is what is passing as a good American among the ranks of the Republican-Libertarian, these pathetic days. Can they get any more despicable than that ?? I am certain they can, they have nothing else to lose. They are the Big Losers in this country, they and the lecherous Corporations, that are sucking the life-blood out of this nation. Their greed is in full command. They will rue the day !! As for precipice, McConnell and Boehner know only too well, they help tremendously in dangling America over it, for the past 8 years. The Bush&Cheney fringe have had us over a precipice, since they snuck into Office and even after they snuck out of our White House !! Wake up, America, President Obama has more on the ball, asleep, than the Bush&Cheney had, wide awake !!

What the Hell? Leave it to Bonhner to define a word. The precipice started when Bush was PUT into office. The first thing they did was to raid the Treasury, and lower taxes, while starting TWO wars. Now who in the hell in his right mind would lower taxes, RAID the TREASURY, and then start two wars. Hey Boehner, McCain, and the rest of the republiCANTS, when this was transpiring, where in the hell were you? Making sure that Christopher Cox, HEAD OF THE SEC, was ignoring the regulations in our banking industry? The BUSH ADMINISTRATION WAS THE MOST CROOKED ADMINISTRATION IN THE HISTORY OF THIS NATION!
