John McCain has run against Barack Obama before.
He's running against him again.
With campaign radio ads billing the five-term Republican senator as "Arizona's last line of defense,'' the GOP's nominee for president in 2008 is attempting to bolster his 2010 campaign for reelection to the Senate with a slam at the president.
"President Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America,'' McCain says in one of the radio ads his campaign is airing.
"I stand in his way every day,'' McCain says. "If I get a bruise or two knocking some sense into heads in Washington, so be it.''
McCain got his own head-knocking in the 2008 presidential election, and now he could be facing a party primary contest from a former Republican congressman, J.D. Hayworth, who is an outspoken critic of immigration reform -- an issue which McCain has championed in the Senate, and an issue on which McCain, Obama and some of the Senate's leading Democrats happen to agree. They support a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
But on the radio, McCain and Obama could not be further apart.
"He's lived through a battle or two, vanquished many a foe,'' a narrator says of the retired Navy pilot and admiral's son who spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. "But perhaps no battle in our lifetime is more vital than the one John McCain fights now... a battle to save America, save our jobs...
"John McCain leads the charge to slash government spending, bloated bureaucracies and ridiculously unaffordable ideas like government run health care.''
In another ad playing on a battle-tested McCain campaign tactic of invoking his days as a POW - reminding voters in Arizona that he could have come home to the U.S. earlier from that prison camp than he did (though Arizona was not home at the time) - the narrator says:
"John McCain is leading the fight against President Obama every day.''
It could get interesting when they get to that immigration bill.

It's hilarious that McCain is being Teabagged. As a Dem, I'm starting to really like those guys....for destroying the GOP from the inside out.
McCain is just ticked off that Obama didn't declare war on any more countries and isn't killing as many Muslims as he would have. He and Barbie badly wanted to dress up in their 'commander guy' outfits and order the killing of more brown people, like W did.

What the Hey! John McCain, how about donating some of that tax free pension you receive from the tax payer! I pay taxes on my pension, and my social security, why is he getting a 58,000 dollar pension and not pay any taxes on it? John go home and count your houses! What will bankrupt this nation is if we don't get a public option in the health care bill. Health insurance is a racket, run by racketeers. The insurance companies are purging from companies any employees that are more costly for insurance or at a risk for it. The insurance companies don't want to insure these folks, they want the government to take care of them. The companies are working with the health insurance industry to get rid of these folks and to reduce their own costs. Folks are now losing their jobs, not because of skills, but because they pose a risk to the health insurance companies. Hey John wake up and get this done for the nation not for the right wing nuts. Remember the republicans never do anything for this nation they only do things to this nation. whiteagle38

John McCain is MORE of a progressive than Obama on many social issues: immigration for one. He lost the election because he ran back to Washington to help with the bailout.

McCain is liberal, but pro-American. Obama, just like both of his parents, is an anti-American communist obsessed with "fundamentally transforming" America he hates by increasing Democrats' march into at least the Third Way brand of socialism begun by FDR and Hitler in the 1930's. According to his own books and speeches, Obama's primary motivation is to redistribute wealth of whites to Africans who voted 96% for him. Although McCain is acting like he opposes all the garbage pushed by Democrats including diluting American votes by importing tens of millions of third world socialists, JD Hayworth, like the majority of Americans, actually does oppose it.

"A people contending for life and liberty are seldom disposed to look with a favorable eye upon either men or measures whose passions, interests or consequences will clash with those inestimable objects."
George Washington quote. If you can't figure it out, then you shouldn't vote! PBO nor McCain garner my attention, they both fit into men which clash with freedom and liberty, because they have both operated and accepted the miserable state our country has been in for the last 100 years, outside of the bounds of Constitutional law. Free men will fight when other have nothing left to fight for.

John McCain's ads portraying himself as a fighter against Obama's spending is laughable. He must think that we are all so stupid that we don't remember that he suspended his presidential campaign in the fall of 2008 so he could support the Bush/Obama bailout of the financial institutions.
This was one of the biggest boondoggle spending sprees in the history of this country, and that along with the bailout of the insurance companies and GM and Chrysler, which McCain supported, risk bankrupting the country.
We conservatives are tired of politicians like McCain who campaign as fiscal conservatives, but always seem to find an unlimited number of good causes to waste the taxpayer dollars on.
We're tired of RINOs, and we hope that McCain is not among them in 2011.

The government has no explicit obligation to provide public money for charity. None. Having said that, when the Congress proposes to take trillions of dollars in new taxes from the public for what is apparently a charitable purpose under whatever disguise, it seems only fair that the people should discuss and debate Congress' actions. One wonders what good reason other than graft and corruption the Congress has to conceal its deliberations from public view.

You forgot to mention that "Senator" McCain is airing his ad's on KFYI in Phoenix.
Primarily they are run on the JD Hayworth show.
Former congressman Hayworth is a Reagan conservative and has polled even with McCain if he were to run for the Senate in the next election.
This scares McCain, he has unleashed his attack dog Grant Woods who has already filed complaints with the FEC, claiming that McCain does not have equal time.
The problem is that Hayworth has not announced nor started an exploratory committee.
I as an Arizonan would like to see McCain replaced as he now looks out for Washington interests instead of Arizona interests.
John McCain talks a good conservative game now that he has lost the presidential election.
If he had been consistently tough in the election he might even have won. Instead he wimped out...

Scott Brown is running for Ted Kennedy's seat. He has somewhat of a chance of winning... slim but it can happen.
He can then end the Dem's 60 vote majority in the Senate and stop the obamacare train.
If you can, try to send $5.00 or $10.00 to his campaign.

"Extreme left-wing crusade"? McCain is obviously going after the idiot/tea partier vote. BHO became establishment-approved very early on. He's definitely leftwing, but not in a way that's a threat to the establishment. He's not even a Kucinich.
As for the tea partiers, their string pullers support mass/illegal imm. and their leaders are on the libertarian side of things. Opposing mass/illegal imm. has never been a major feature at their rallies. If you support our imm. laws, the tea partiers are almost as much your enemies at McCain and BHO.
P.S. I've been covering imm. matters since 2002 in several thousand posts, so I know when someone's on my side and when they aren't. Individual partiers might be, but the movement as a whole is not.
Posted by: 24AheadDotCom | January 7, 2010 10:32 PM

Lots of good postings but I can't believe how many mis-informed postings there are on here also:
At least Palin is NOT a Washington power-hungry politican. Bush did not run up most of the debt! Obama has spent more than ALL presidents 'combined'. The main-stream news media were the one's who failed more than McCain, but I do agree McCain is far to moderate but then, we really didn't know what we wanted - but it wasn't McCain. More importantly, Obama lied big time, he campaigned as a centrist - but we do more and more know each day what we want -- as many of these posts do show. Tokyo-Pelosi lied and lied to us back before McCain. Moving Gitmo because it makes radical muslims mad to IL will 'only' make IL the scape goat, they couldn't get to Gitmo but they can get to IL.

I'm a conservative. I respect McCain's prior service to this country, but it's time for him to step aside and let someone truly conservative take his place. Through their actions, Democrats have unmasked themselves as socialists, and socialism is anathema to the principles upon which this nation was founded. Many so-called Republicans are no better than the Democrats. So this November, let's keep true conservatives like Rep. Michele Bachmann & Sen. Jim DeMint, and purge the remaining members of this current Congress. They're unfit to lead free men and women. Then in 2012, let's purge the socialist from the White House and purge the remaining members of this current Congress (e.g. Ben Nelson).
I'm pleased to see the awakening of the middle class; the self-serving elitists have held power for too long. It's time for them to go.

All the DC actors are phonies, McCain is no exception, which is why Conservatives dropped him like a hot rock in the last election. Conservatives had no one to vote for as we had a Republican candidate that worked WITH Kennedy to give amnesty to illegals. The greatest collection of crooked con men ruin our country - be green and recycle all of them.

Sorry , too little too late John McCain!!!! With just a few! a few! well placed comments you would have been president of the United States. If you didn't have the intestinal fortitude to fight during the campaign don't try to fool the voters into believing you have it now.----The United States needs Statesmen with positive Principles, not Lying Politicians who will say anything to get elected then stick the voters once their in office.

Let's remember that the night Obama was elected, his followers were waving A HAMMER & SICKLE COMMUNIST FLAG in front of the Whitehouse! They knew what had just happened. They know who is in there and what he intends to do to harm the country. He pretended to be some moderate in the campaign, and then took off the mask once in the Whitehouse and began his reign of soft-on-terror communist horror.

You people are so completely in love with your own stupidity that you think "capitalist prosperity = AL QAEDA", and you've criminalized the very people who represent what's made the United States the most prosperous and free country the world has ever seen!
To put it in words you idiots will understand, you're willing to commit suicide as long as you can blame it on someone else after you've put the gun in your mouth and pulled the trigger.
Because you idiots don't realize that KILLING YOURSELF means you CAN'T blame anyone BUT yourself, and you STILL think you're the smartest person in the room!

I think most intelligent Americans know how the political system works today. Both parties are being led by snakes with no morals or values. We the people will take our country back before the current administration has run its course. Corporations and oil rich nations are running our country with the puppets they got elected that have sold their souls. Simply follow the money from campaign contributions to "other financings" to see who is pulling the strings. We must first take back our country and then eliminate the buying off of our politicians. Campaign contribution reform along with term limits for both houses will help this from happening again so easily. Investigate and hold accountable all members of congress and the executive branch on the grounds of treason and put them in prison. Unfortunately, Revolution in America is coming but is necessary to save our country. God help us do the right thing!

"'He's lived through a battle or two, vanquished many a foe,'' a narrator says of the retired Navy pilot and admiral's son who spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. 'But perhaps no battle in our lifetime is more vital than the one John McCain fights now... a battle to save America, save our jobs... '"
Uh ... 2008 was a battle far more vital. Sorry, I'm not falling for this tripe again. John McCain's moment -- although it was a very great one, and lasted an excruciating five years -- was 40 years ago. Since then, he has had an enigmatic senate career, undistinguished and inscrutable in the wavering of its persona between moderate and maverick. By waging a wan and weird presidential campaign, he did a great deal towards giving us the current administration, with its poseur-in-chief of doubtful provenance, its supporting cast of scorpions and poisonous snakes, and a complicit Congress of clowns. He's done the country a great service, but a far greater disservice. I won't be taken in again by a retelling of his saga. NOW he wants to fight Obama? Why did he throw the 2008 election like some crooked boxer in need of a payoff? Senator McCain deserves an honorable, long, happy retirement. But so long to him as a politician. It's time to pack it in, Senator.

To superficially trash John McCain or Sarah Palin is a waste of precious time and focus.
On the Drudge Report recently, it was reported that President Obama signed an Executive Order that places Interpol, as the enforcement agency in the United States above and beyond all possible jurisdiction and directives of any and all US Law Enforcement Agency. This would include local, state, military, FBI, NSA, CIA and any other arm of American justice and jurisprudence. This move is one to place America under the UN.
Is this reality not newsworthy for the American People, whose government is mandated to be by, for and of the people?
For everyone not to be completely focused on this unconstitutional act is beyond this persons imagination. I am now, today, truly afraid to be an American.
It is morally and ethically imperative to reveal this trashing of the Constitution in complete detail.

There are two political forces in America today: libertarians (with a little "L") and totalitarians. Most totalitarians are Democrats, most libertarians are Republicans.
John McCain has never been that sure what he is, only that he wants to be popular with somebody and he likes being in the Senate. He really should retire instead of fighting for renomination in the primary.

The Left is always going on and on about how the right doesn't offer any solutions. This is the exact patronage mindset the left has been cultivating for decades. The solutions are to restore freedom to this country, and individual liberty to its citizens. You do that by making sure the government doesn't DO anything else. More is NOT better, and Lefty "solutions," always amount to greater regulation, taxation, and government control. We should be repealing laws and programs rather than inventing new ones to solve the problems the government created with its "helpful," law and programs. You drones just don't get it.

009.005 But when the forbidden months are past {when 'treaties' expire, although they may break them at any time - if it benefits Islam} then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war.
008.067 It is not fitting for a prophet that he should have prisoners of war [slay them first] until he hath thoroughly subdued the land. {Treason in all non-Muslim nations

033.061 They shall have a curse on them: whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain without mercy. {Genocidal teaching - no matter how you look at it!
Those teachings cleary Violate International Law.
Those teachings clearly Violate the U.S. Constitution.
Those teachings clearly Violate the following Christian teaching:
Rom 13:9 Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

November won't make a difference. It doesn't make a difference if you vote Republican or Democrat. Neither party wants any sort of real change.
Americans in general don't want change. This is our greatest failing in this time.
Nations like China and India are pushing hard towards change. They want to evolve.
Americans just want to drive the same big trucks and live in the same big houses.
They'd rather fight two wars than invest in public transport.
They'd rather borrow money than legalize and tax drugs.
They'd rather fire teachers than let businesses advertise in the classroom to fund education.
Fear seems to be the only thing America is producing domestically these days.

Funny how when someone opposes your guy, dissent is no longer patriotic.
By the logic of some of these fools, Germans who resisted Hitler were unpatriotic and did not put country first. Not calling Obama hitler, just saying that lack of goose stepping with the President does not equate to a lack of love for your country.
Silly liberal, logic is for adults.

McCain is Obama lite.
They are both sick leftists that are destroying this country with a socialist agenda.
McCain wants to make changes slowly so no one notices while Obama is trying to overwhelm and destroy the system quickly.
Liberalism is a mental illness that, very much like drug addiction, is destroying our country.

Grandpa John still doesn't get it. The grass roots conservative voters of American rejected him. He's not a conservative. Never was. He's just another gang of compromising bafoons running Congress for far too long. Amnesty for illegal aliens? Trillions more in cost and debt? How is that conservative? Would also help if the guy could chew gum and form sentences at same time. Without Palin, he would have been destroyed even worse. While America appreciates your service, its time to retire from your prison gig and let a real conservative lead and not appease. That will save America from corrupt left wing liberal pond scum that McCain so correctly points out are turning this nation into a debt ridden Socialist cess-pool.
Posted by: Rubicon Cross | January 8, 2010 7:24 AM
Most conservatives don't fall for McCain's tough guy act since he has betrayed us in so many ways by "reaching across the aisle". He is a RINO. He and Lindsay Grahmnesty support illegal alien citizenship. Hey there, Mr. McCain, how will 20 million more Third World voters help our bankruptcy problem? --more "free" medical care, more education, more welfare and food stamps and more democratic votes!! Who is not connecting the dots? Your own brand of "compassion" is destroying America and hurting our citizens.

For starters this Vito guy is a bloody idiot! But, seriously folks..........If Mc Cain was a stronger candidate, and not "beholdin" to some of the left wing programs, he might have been elected. I have never seen the GOP muster up such a wishy washy guy since Bob Dole!

Why do leftists fear and hate Palin the most? She demonstrated that a woman can accomplish Huge things, and does not have to KILL her BABIES in order to do so.
Palin has caused the liberals to feel their own failures and inadequacies, by means of her own integrity and her success.

This appears to be one of the few sites where anti-American leftist scum can risk crawling out from under their rocks to spew lies and venom. Chicago must be the home of Marxism, Communism, and socialism in the US (oops... forgot fascism).
McCain is NOT a conservative and deserves to lose the primary. In fact, he should resign so that a true conservative can run for his seat.
He is right about Obama however. He is following an Alinsky style radical agenda designed to destroy America and her economy so that people will have no choice but to turn to him and the Democrats out of fear. Sound familiar?

alta vista,
It wasn't Hannity that nominated McCain. It was the crossover voting by Dems and so-called independents (moderates /RINO's) because many primaries were open and not closed to all but declared party members. In addition, the media backed McCain and millions of ignorant sheeple bought their lies. After McCain was the nomination, we had no choice but to back McCain. Look at the Destruction these Commies have caused already.
Giuliani is NOT a RINO and would have been far far far better President than either McCain or Der Fuehrer.
Voting libertarian may make you feel good but it only enable Democrats to win by splitting our vote.

McCain is just one of that nest of corruption in Washington, and if he had become president he would have done no better than George W., who was the greatest spender after LBJ. McCain is so ignorant and does not know that America was already in full bankruptcy when George W. handed America to Obama. If the true National Debt of way over $100 trillion is not an bankrupt America, than how much more is needed, may I ask McCain? Yes, I voted for Ron Paul, a true and honest America, whom McCain berated as an evil man, right?

McCain & Obama are just different wings of the same Statist Party, the "Dempublicans," that has consumed our wealth and rescinded the freedoms that made – yes, as in Past Tense - America great, by pandering to the worst instincts of the pathetically ill-educated and selfish American electorate. There is a plague on this house. Obama (American “Little Boots”) is just a symptom of it, but a particularly ugly one. He’s a two-bit random quote machine with all the character of a street punk and the fact that America elected him is a marker of their lack of wisdom, or even a concern with it. Freedom isn’t free so Amerika isn’t buying anymore and that suits Mom & Pop six-pack fine.

We wouldn't be in this fix if McCain had REALLY run against Obama last year. When will the Republicans learn that war heroes do not necessarily make good presidential candidates. McCain's campaign was about as effective as Bob Dole's. Where are the candidates who are willing to fight dirty like the Democrats. Republicans are like the British "redcoats" lined up nice and pretty while those rebellious American colonists took potshots at them from behind trees.

I have nothing but respect for Senator McCain. He is a true american hero; during the Vietnam war and in the senate. However, the reason we have BHO in charge now has be to put on the Senator and his staff. They gave the election to this degenerate by not going after him on his character and his wifes character and not going after ABC, NBC, and CBS for thier coverage of the election. The Senator's backgroud and reputation as a fighter for what is right did not come through in the election and look what we ended up with. I am a little upset now that he is fighting so hard. It's a bit to late. All true americans can hope for is that who ever challenges this piece of trash (BHO) in 2012 has the courage to attack him on his character and propensity to say what ever he wants and think the world should take him at his word. His word means nothing and his actions show what a true crook and con-artist he is.

I hope the good people of Arizona realize what a phony and a demagogue Senator " Crash " McCain has become. First, I will not ignore our debt to him, for his service to country and of the suffering that entailed. I thank him for his service. Having said that, their have been many corrupting years in between then and now and Senator McCain has done very little to uphold that record, prior to his achieving a political career. As a matter of fact, he has had the misfortune of having been "tried " by the Senate Ethics Committee and his behavior has been found wanting. His " trial " had to do with campaign financing and a mention of " questionable conduct " appeared. His relationship with Bush&Cheney bordered on the absurd, from mischievousness to servitude, all in the name of Bush&Cheney's support in the 2008 presidential campaign. That whole episode, his campaign for the Presidency, just reinforced what many had observed for years, Senator McCain's bitterness, the vitriol he seemed to show against then-Senator Obama was unacceptable. Just as I hope the good people of Arizona will arrive at the same conclusion, as I and many other citizens of our nation, have come to realize about Senator McCain. He is not fit to continue to represent Arizona and I hope they will retire him, now. At least, then he will have the opportunity to enjoy the private jets and 7 homes, he and his show-case wife have had at their disposal. America can not afford any more of these opportunists and phonies !!

McCain has a lot of nerve. I seem to recall him leaving the campaign trail to rush to Washington to get the first stimulus package pushed through. That was the beginning of the downward spiral. Obama has made it worse, much worse, but McCain needs to own it too.

McCain like Obama are what represents the worst of this country and it's corrupt political parties.
The Republicans and the democrats have had a150 years to run this country and run it into the ground they have. In every coming election it is necessary to unselect who ever is in office from both of these criminal class entities and retake control of the government and put the constitution back in force. There is not one Democrat that is worth reelecting and only a couple Republicans, like Ron Paul. Most should be strung up to a high limb.

As a conservative it is amusing to see all the publicly uneducated socialists still drinking the 0bammy kool-aid.
I do however agree with the more rational people here that McCain had his chance and blew it and even though what he is saying about 0bammy is 100% true, he is, as they say, a day late and a dollar short and his truisms are being assessed as scare tactics. It would be much more effective if the young and the bold conservatives, in office, start saying it.
The present moronic socialism in this country will eventually lead to communism and then the total downfall of the country, however, there is but a handful of non-watching MTV people under the age of 40 who can figure this out.

Weak, half-hearted lip service will not stop or have the slightest effect, on a bulldozer. Obama is about as worried about McCain as a giant is about an ant. John McCain was not trying to win the Presidency. He "acted" the part. Time after time, he bowed down and glorified Obama during the campaign. As a conservative, I had to hold my nose to vote Repubican. It was vote for John - an ineffective, weak weirdo, or vote for Obama - a socialist, America hating man who is determined to destroy our country, set himself up as dictator. Democrats - Republicans, we are all Americans right now. If we do not find a way to stop Obama, we will soon be another country, stripped of our freedom and liberty. Can't you see that it is all coming to an end? Can't you see what Obama is doing? Please remain civil toward one another, despite political differences. We are all sinking on the same ship. God help us.

McCain, Bush and Obama are different degrees of social progressivism. The critical danger now is that radicals bent on scrapping the whole economic system are in control, rushing huge transformational legislation.
Remember: This country is a constitutional republic, where the rule of law protects life, liberty and property.
It is neither a majority-rule democracy, nor an oligarchy government where the political elites, through a large, centrally planned government, rule over the people (tyranny by elites), as in most countries around the world.
Our form of government makes this country exceptional, limited to its proper role outlined in the US Constitution of protecting the guaranteed rights of the individual under the Bill of Rights, and then gets out of the way for prosperity and growth.
It does not allow for an all-powerful, centralized federal government that usurps states’ sovereignty and chooses the winners and losers of society in the name of social and economic justice (taking of one segment of society and gives to an other through legislation and taxation).
The transformation of government, from a republic to oligarchy, by socialist progressives of both parties has gone on far too long. Vote them out!

If the Republicans want to get their message out in dribs and drabs -- McCain, Cheney, DeMint, et al, why not? As Reagan used to say, "There's no limit to what can be accomplished if we're unconcerned with who gets the credit."

"Tort reform" on health care to get the ambulance chasing lawyers out of the court rooms, that is the first and best step to better/affordable health care......not another govt run debacle....that by the way have cost US taxpayers 2 to 10 times as much as predicted and are currently failing....

I doubt any republican would do anything different, especially one that is as deep in bed with the elite as John McCain. Whoever is president answers to the same god created here in the US.... $$$
Now blame the left for the spending, remember what Bush did? bailouts, huge bailouts, stimulus, and tax breaks for rich. republicans are part of the globalization of our money just as much as the Obama guy and Clintons.
Ever heard of the privately owned federal reserve?! Yah, owned by Rothchilds, Morgans, and a few other banking elite families. (20% is government "owned" but is a non voting share holder)
if you blame the left, blame the right for never standing up to those who are creating and running our money...
If McCain had won he wouldnt have done anything that different. The spending would be disguised behind war spending and other "right of center" crap, invading another country and call it defending freedom, and the majority of Americans would eat that up bc they are blind.
Before obama won, he and Hilary took a very well documented, secret trip to meet with the Bildeberg Group in DC. Think nothing of it, just the worlds elite bankers, media moguls, world leaders meeting in secret. Yeah, just ignore it...probably nothing...
Pull the veil back and you will see the puppet masters, who btw, loooove that mindless ignorant fools debate right vs left, as if it matterd.
Go ahead and argue about abortion, weed, taxes, unemployment, because to the banking elite, that dont matter....
The world is pushing for 1 world government and order. Their motto is simple: c.r.e.a.m (cash rules everything around me) and they dont want any one to interfere
You may win your little insignificant battles over the rights to smoke weed, wear a condom, or pray in public, just dont mess with the Fed.
Vote Dem or Rep, it dont matter when it comes to $$, the course has been set a long time ago, just ride it and do what makes you happy.

Well, either way, you socialist liberals your messiah is fixin to get hamstrung and your ObamaCare is DOA.
And to Raymond Juneau who said; " Health insurance is a racket, run by racketeers."
Wow, jeezz, I have been with my PPO for over 15 years and never had a problem, besides that you miss-quided Communist, the last I heard Health Insurance is voluntary, do you know what that means ? That means you have a choice to purchase Health Insurance, or Not.
Under ObamaCare you will be mandated to purchase Health Insurance to the tune of $4800 - $7000 grand per year, if you don't pay then the IRS will garnish your wages or confiscate your Tax Returns or send you to Jail. That's your idea of Health Care Reform ?
Do you also realize there is no provision for denying Illegal Mexicans access to ObamaCare, and the next bill up for grabs from this Administration is Illegal Immigration Reform, known as Amnesty which will allow another 30 million un-insured Illegals to get ObamaCare along with your bogus 46 Million Un-insured now, that's 76 Million added to the Gov't books. Who is gona pay for that ?
Your Messiah is ripping the guts out of this country and you Liberals know it, yet you continue to walk off the cliff right behind his arse. Un-Frigin-Believable !!!!

Obama plainly has no clue. He came into office facing a $500 billion deficit, which he and his cronies have grown to $2 trillion within one year. It's taken him over a year to quit using euphemisms and finally admit we're "at war." He's intent on pushing through health legislation that does nothing to reduce the cost of care in the midst of a recession. He promised that his "urgent" stimulus bill would keep the jobless rate at 8% and then ignores the fact that the jobless rate is steady at 10%. And then there are the continuing foreclosures, the new bailout of Fannie and Freddie and the huge bonuses paid to their executives, the crushing forecast of cap and trade. . . . Yes, Obama is determined to bankrupt the nation's citizens. And I continue to wonder who is pulling his strings.

To Don Fitzgerald, IL
Political Spectrum: Total Government (Communism, Socialism, Nazism, Fascism, Ect.) through No Government (Anarchy)
Lower Middle of the Spectrum: Constitutional Moderates (classical liberals, Libertarians and conservatives as it is used today, like that of our founders): Government limited to its proper role of protecting rights of the people.
Remember: This country is a constitutional republic, where the rule of law protects life, liberty and property of the individual, not collectivism and economic central planning (socialism).

If I can recall correctly, during the campaign, when an audience member challenged McCain on Obama - where that audience member hinted that this country is going to hell in a handbasket if Obama get elected - McCain reiterated back something to the effect that it would not, and this country would be ok if Obama got elected. So Obama gets elected, and McCain has a serious primary fight he states "President Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America"? Sounds like a serious flip-flop to me. And a flip flop made - in time for the Republican primary contest!

My friends on the right side of the ledger, read the words of your political opponents. Read the words and ask yourself this question. Who truly poses a greater threat to a free America in the future? Al Qaeda, who has to infiltrate, detonate, and execute plans laid out for months or years in advance, OR today's American Democratic party member, who openly adhere to Marxist policy, who never admit to being wrong, much less taking responsibility for it (unless it's as blatant as the Pantybombers near success), and who are executing plans laid out for decades in advance? It's getting really tough to leave peacefully in a country where you feel surrounded by the enemy. Surrounded by ideology that Americans in the past have fought and died over to stop in its tracks.

Its not a liberal or conservative thing, its not a right or left wing thing people! Its bigger government or less government!!! Obama has increased the Gov, Bush did! Clinton did Bush did, Regan did. Does anybody see a pattern here??? Nothing ever changes in washington, the players may change, the types of programs change, but government never gets smaller or LESS intrusive! Government is the cause of all our problems. Until people figure that out and stop fighting over Repub or Demo, then we will continue to have these problems!

What McCain just said about Mr. Obama may be the greatest truth he has said his whole political career. Best of All he has introduced Sarah Palin who is not part of the "OneWorld Cabal" .... She may be what is necessary to bring America back to the American People. The poor will get a better shake if ytoum are worried for them. She would not only makre =e a fine pPresident, but running a household of at least 4 or 5 at last count for a number of years, she can budget and make it stick. If a President leads us to terrorism worries, unemployment, and national bankruptcy, it's time for impeachment proceedings. Obama is in over his head as any thinking voter knew he would be. State senators don't cut it in high office.

II'm no McCain fan, but it's funny when democrats come out to slam him. He was one of their favorite republicans before he got the nomination. They may think they're clever for trash-talking the ticket, but they had the most media-coddled candidate in history facing a 72 year old man with no base support and they still only won 52-48. As for Palin, if she's dumb, she's dumb like a fox, with an incredibly successful book and higher favorability ratings than Obama. I don't know how differently McCain would have governed, but I doubt HIS approvals would have dropped faster than any president in history.

There's only a mildly insignificant difference between McCain and Obama. McCain practices largely democrat views, and Obama far leftist views.
But the fact remains, Obama is spending more than Bush did, which both parties had issues with during Bush's administration. But only one party is now defending overspending because they're guy is in power. That is called intellectual dishonesty no matter how you slice it.

As far as McCain and TEA Party, the TEA Party is showing that the nation has decided Conservatism is way better than the Liberalism as seen fron the Democrats. Otherwise, why are so many Dems retiring, or jumping ship? Why does the GOP court them, after finding the TEA Party can scuttle their canpaigns? Why does the TEA Party have a HUGE cross-section of the American demographic? The comments made here about TEA Party activists, Sarah Palin, and the GOP just goes to show how pathetically ignorant Liberals are, all while patting themselves on the back for their supposed intelligence.

One prefers oil, one prefers green energy. But both equals big business. They are one in the same to them, because they get their payouts. Abortions are becoming big business. Its ridiculous to hear you people support your side like they do no wrong. Our country's biggest problem is the men and women that make up these 2 political parties. They are motivated by greed. Now until you can get away from talking about partisian politices then you are no help in trying to find a solution.

What the Hey! Remember when Bush got the tax cuts, raided the Treasury, then started two wars? How in the hell are you going to pay for all this. ON top of that Christopher Cox, head of the SEC, ignored all regulatory laws and let wall street run their own show. Sure as hell is a good thing they didn't get their claws on our social security monies! Then they let the goons on wall street package derivatives that had no value and sell them. They had no value because in 2003 they came up with this mortgage where you didn't need a job, nothing down, and only pay the interest. When the mortgage reset, then there was hell to pay. The bailout started by Bush was about protecting the wealthy peoples wealth, first and foremost. I don't understand how middle America could even think of voting for the republican'ts. It is clear to any moderate (what I mean is someone who will not support his party position regardless of the facts) that you can not spend $1.5 trillion a year more than you take in for the next 10 years (as is the Obama budget projects) and survive as a country! I voted for Obama since he ran on a platform that was for Fiscal responsibility and a change from the current political system. I expected him to appoint advisors that were not career political people to give an alternate approach. What we got was political appointments...such as ex governor Napolitano...who has political connections but ZERO experience in anti-terrorism.

But on the other hand the people that are stating that obama is a communist and that he is going to be at our door holding our families hostage and that we need to stock up on supplies when the government take over are sounding just plain crazy. There is a middle area where most people live and it is quite nice to not have to suck up to either party but to call political actions like we see them. Personally I think Bush and Obama are guilty of the bailout situation. I do not agree with the healthcare overhaul but I think something needs to be done. I did not agree with the Iraq war but I am 100% sure that something has to be done soon about iran before they acquire nuclear missiles. Umm do you know why health insurance companies are doing this? BECAUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MEDICAL CAPITAL TO BEGIN WITH! You can thank the large amounts of waste from medicaire as well as strict government regulations regarding hospital expansions for doing this. You listen to the left wing propaganda too much. The insurance companies are not the problem. THE PROBLEM IS OUR MEDICAL SUPPLY! What are the Dems going to do, hire more doctors? In order to do that, you would need to lower the standards for people to get into medical school. This health bill will only take away one problem a nd replace it with an entirely new problem because the Dems are not focusing on the root of the problem.
Ofcourse it would be too difficult to inject more doctors into the system. I think a culture of dependance is breeding more morons than smart people, and the proportion of morons to smart people is shrinking at an astounding rate. Social agenda does nothing but negate the natural principles of the most fit reproducing at a higher rate than the lesser fit. We are now entering an era where people will grow to depend on the government, and eventual offspring will learn the same habits. This isn't the kind of infrastructure that will bring out smart doctors. Our doctor to population ratio will continue to shrink and I am sure that one day, if government healthcare becomes the norm, that rationing will occur.

This man has more life & political experience than Obama EVER will. Thats a fact not an opinion. His judgement shows "wisdom" while Obama's judgement shows folly. I guarantee that the economy will be worse off after Obama has left office. His choice of cabinet appointees have been ver poor. Just look at the director of HS - she has NO experience for that poistion! Fact not opinion.

The liberals hate Elmer Fudd's look alike John Mccain for bringing in Palin who actually got people excited and thereby betraying liberal america's agenda. The conservatives deal with Mccain because he occasionally votes Conservative but if the Repub party was smart they'd drop like a rock this scumbag who supported his brothers but betrayed his wife. John(Elmer Fudd) Mccain is against free speech like all good liberals and only pretends to be conservative about the military because he knows that his veteran status is the only reason he is where he is. His mccain feingold assault on the 1st amendment and his hypocrital actions on so many other issues show his true stripes and are why he lost. He needs to try to focus on his job of representing his state and give up national ranking unless he can finally come clean about the true liberal he is. Mostof america stayed home while the liberals voted for their icon of power and the conservative stood around doing nothing wondering where their candidate was in the 2008 election.

Sen. McCain's time to run for President has passed. He probably knows that. I give him credit for a patriotic service in the twilight of his career. Anyone willing to put his shoulder into today's fight against soft tyranny has my whole-hearted support. There is much Sen. McCain can do in his position in today's fight. He has all of my backing in that.

McCain might have been a little more impressive in Election returns, had he been more blunt and honest as he is now - a little late.
That said, Obama and his idiot liberal minions - some libs who commented on this article - are dangerous to America. I look forward to even his Chicago Thugs failing to stop the tide that's turning against his socialist-liberal policies that can only hurt this Great Nation.
Yes, I mean "Great Nation." Unlike the "Messiah-In-Chief," I believe that the U.S. has NOTHING to apologize for, while barry believes we should apologize for everything. Barry-O learned well from Alinsky, Rev. Wright, his ACORN buddies, and the rest of his socialist, mob-organizers.
Keep up the hard hits, McCain!

Bill R said, "John McCain is leading the fight against President Obama every day.''
The proud GOP seems to have the same goals as Al Qaeda and our enemy. Country first???
Bill, country first means opposing Obama's anti-american policies. Also, Al Queda opposes a strong america, therefore they oppose republican policy more than democrat policy. But more importantly, they oppose the US in general and not Obama. I guess you don't see that your argument applies equally well to opposition of Bush for the last 8 years. Please be more nuanced. Your blind partisanship is not helping anybody.

Didn't we spend enough trillions of dollars in 2009 ? didn't we socialize medicine, the US car industry ?
do we not yet have enough czars ?

A naval officer knows how to respond to a national emergency like Al Qaeda's Christmas Day Attack on America. Our soon to be former president made a few phone calls and continued his vacation while instructing his staff to do the same. That's not officer material and would never be tolerated at our military institutions or by our military in a time of war. Any officer who did such a thing would be immediately relieved of duty.

Gee, thanks, John McCain! Thanks a lot! Remember when the woman at a rally told you she was afraid Obama was going to bring sweeping left-wing changes that would hurt the country? Do you remember gently chiding her that senator Obama was a fine man, a good man, who would never do that? You're waking up two years too late! Thanks a bunch! Enjoy your defeat in November!

So Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America, as opposed to McCain's plan to lead a slightly less left-wing crusade to sell the country out to illegals and big business. Maybe if the GOP had run a fiscal conservative that walks the walk instead of yet another RINO who talks and talks about libruhls and abortion and patriotism but can't wait to legislate everything themselves, they wouldn't have lost in 2008.
I have to admit, I lol'd at a recent Michael Steele interview where he basically said the tea partiers will vote Republican because they're not as bad as the other side. Doesn't he get it? The whole point of tea parties is a lot of former pragmatic Republicans and even Democrats have no faith in either party, and want to teabag both of them. The GOP's only real hope is to start over as the "it's the fiscal conservatism, stupid" party--litmus-test social issues and chest-thumping speeches are just going to be seen as attempts to distract attention from the Washington money machine ruining the economy.
Posted by: CppThis | January 8, 2010 3:45 PM
Obama isn't over his head..the man is doing exactly what he planned to do. He will take this country down, its people, its economy, its history brick by brick. The GOP had a lousy candidate in McCain and when he gets the guts of Palin...then I listen. However, someone, something has to get rid of this Congress and this President. We are doomed until Obama goes and this disgusting Congress. Oh..and for you progressives reading this...when we run out of money...where are you going to get more...Geithner/Bernanke who are printing it as fast as the presses run. Loaf of bread 2011 - $55.00

I agree with those who say that McCain is a bit late to the game. But hell, somebody has got to start talking about stopping the runaway train of spending. It's a baby step in the right direction but we need a whole new class of legislators to replace the complete fiscal idiots who are currently deeply engaged in leading this country straight into a financial meltdown.

A naval officer knows that the proper response to an attack on America is not to lay in bed for three hours, make a few phone calls, decide that it was an over-Detroit contingency operation, tell the rest of the national security staff to stay on vacation, go play some golf and take a swim on the beach before hitting the hot tub. This is not officer material.

The Republicans are as much a part of the problem as the Democrats and they need to come to that realization ASAP. McCain (a good man) should retire.

McCain is the reason our country is in trouble. If we ran anyone else, we would not have obama ruining us. Always amazes me how important military service seems to be to the left/democrats when a Republican is in office and men are at war.
In the last 20 years, Democrats have torn apart 3 genuine war heroes in favor of guys who didn't even service a day in the military and with the help of the media tore into Bush for allegedly not Finishing his service.
Yet when Clinton and now Obama sends me to die in battle, crickets.
Even the press stops asking or mentioning it.
Remember during 06 elections when the press kept asking Republicans if they had kids going to war? Now Obama and a bunch of kids who never even WANTED to serve are in office it's not a issue.
While it's true McCain has sold out the conservative cause on a few issues he's still a veteran, served us honrably and his loads better than anything the left has to offer.

And whoever wrote that drivel is wrong and subversive.
McCain has always been strong on national security, a rare bonafide war hero himself, and fiscal cons.
He did not vote for the Bush 2003 tax cut (which will lapse soon and you will be paying pre-2003 taxes again) because he wanted spending cuts to balance them.
Posted by: Renny | January 8, 2010 5:39 PM

Anybody---ANYBODY---who hasn't learned that Republicans for over a century have been and always will be for corruption and stiffing of the Middle Class(Halliburton/Bechtel/billions "lost" in Iraq/etc.) is so completely ignorant it's astounding they have an opposable thumb and are bi-pedal.
Republicans have always fought tooth-and-nail AGAINST anything benefitting the non-rich: Social Security; Medicare; a living Minimum Wage; unemployment insurance; health-care for all; etc.
"NAME ONE THING REPUBLICANS HAVE DONE FOR AMERICANS," Chris Matthews asked his Republican guest this week. COMPLETE and UTTER---and shameful in its revelation---SILENCE. After being asked TWICE.
Go on, Right-wing nuts; prove me wrong about history.
And while you're at it, tell me why Cheney's outing of a CIA agent wasn't treason.
Also---Giuliani goes on TV and claims Bush had NO TERRORIST ACTS ON HIS WATCH??! THIS is how Republicans think of Americans: as dumb, ignorant sheep who will believe blatant falsehoods rather than their own experiences. Hello, Shoe-Bomber! Anthrax-mailer Killer!
And DUH---SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.

Instead of doing that, McCain tried to be Mr. Nice Guy and even put a gag on Gov. Palin, even going so far as to make fun of those of us who were saying what he is saying now, then.
McCain is a disappointment and hopefully his latter day conversion will be helpful, but I sincerely doubt it. We need new leadership, not the same ol' pols, but real down-to-earth American patriots!

McCain is a wimp. A wimp. He had issues that he did not use in race vs Obama, did not use because he is a wimp. Example? Rev. Wright, a preacher, a preacher for God's sake, stands in the pulpit and GDs America and McCain won't touch this issue even though Obama says he did not know his preacher did that. How could any member of any church fail to know that his preacher GDs America whether he was at service those days or not? Of course Obama knew and lied about it and of course McCain was a wimp to not use it in his campaign . . . and what about Obama's middle name which McCain put off limits, but it was not off limits at the inaugration. ("I Barack Hussein Omama . . ."). Now, stick with me here and see if you can imagine this: It's 1967 in North Vietnam. An aide tells Ho Chi Mihn that the son of a US Admiral is in their prison. Ho tells his aide to send him home. The next day the aide meets Ho again. "Did you send McCain home," Ho asks. "No, your godship," the aide says, "He would not go." That's it? Ho took No for an answer? He could not have sent McCain to the Red Cross or to Sweden? That story is a lie, or, like Mark Twain would say, "A Damn Lie," a lie made up in prison and exported out of there. Think about this lie, people.

McCain is absolutely correct in that Obozo and his band of Extreme Leftover Commie clowns are on a crusade to bankrupt and destroy this country! The reasons for this are twofold, first to help give sovereignty over to the World Government via the UN and to replace the current Republic with a Communist style government which would give the Elitist Libturds like Obozo along with Peelousy and Scary Harry absolute power and control over the populace! The goal with these Leftwing parasites is the same as for any corrupt body, money and power! They need to be swept out like so much rubbish! 2012 can't get here soon enough!

"Bush ran an extreme right wing crusade to bankrupt America in only 8 short years" is what the qoute should have been...

The tea baggers are destroying the GOP? I disagree they are changing the GOP for the better. The democrats are in more trouble because they have been taken over by the extreme left (Pelosi, Reid, Franken, Frank, etc). The democrats are out of touch with a majority of Americans.

John is right about Obama, but RINO's like McCain aren't the answer. Isn't it interesting how politicians rediscover their conservative roots when faced with tough re-election battles?
Posted by: Cowboy Diplomat | January 9, 2010 11:28 AM
McCain had no desire to win the election. He consistently praised and supported Obama. McCain was an American hero right up to the point where he handed this dangerous UN-American, Marxist/Socialist Obama to the American people on a silver platter. Although once a war hero, now he is instrumental in the complete dismantling and destruction of our Constitution, our beautiful country. His sacrificial wartime service to the USA has been cancelled out. Thanks a lot, John. You will go down in history... right along with Benedict Arnold.

I am also a small business owner. I know a number of SB owners who have said that when the health care requirements kick in, they will have to close. They can't afford to provide government mandated health care for all employees. 10% - 17% unemployment today, who knows what it will be when Odumbos foolish takeover is complete.

Is this the same IDIOT McCain who would not allow a bad word said against Obama when he was running against him?

Oh yes, the ol chat up the I was a POW 50 years ago thing. Does getting captured by the enemy prove anything other than you maybe weren't as good a soldier than some of the others that weren't caught?
I hope John's Depends is as good at soaking up things as he's been at soaking up the media's attention.
There's a new younger demographic John, learn it!

"Gentleman" Johnny lost the election by forbidding mentions of BO's radical roots in Chicago. Although JM was definitely the lesser of two evils, he failed to define the difference between his policies and the incumbent's in the
WH.
By the way, perhaps the redundancy about "It's Bush's fault" should be repackaged
as the movie Popeye's song about food (Food, Food, Food) to "Bush, Bush, Bush. Everything is Bush." with Pelosi as Wimpy ("I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.") for heightened comedic effect.

TOO LATE John...you were unwilling to do what it took to defeat Obama during the election, so don't bother now. Enjoy your last year as a Senator. Your decision to be a "Moderate" went a long way to puttting Obama in office and in the mess we are in now. I am afraid that 'we ain't seen nothing yet' when it comes to what's in store for us in the next 3 years under this ......... of a President. Thanks a lot, John.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN
Congress and the White House should stop squandering the people’s money first to improve quality of basic entitlements. No new taxes. Congressional vote bribery should stop. Citizens come first.
It is time the U.S. limits its human rites and military policeman by lobbying the United Nations and NATO to “take on more”. 800 bases across the world should be reduced. Starting with Iraq, remove most troops in 2010 and continue consulting for self reliance. After a surge in Afghanistan repeat, remove corruption and substitute same value food crops for drugs. Reduce forces in selected areas such as Germany, Bosnia and Okinawa.
Cut bureaucracy. For example, combine CDC, EPA and FDA. No CSZARS.
Contribute to one of: The World Bank or International Monetary Fund.
Reduce foreign aid. For example, no aid to oil rich -Iraq.
Reduce the “stimulus” by halting “vote buying” and ridiculous earmarks. Please--no research of frogs or rats and no private jets for Congress.
Stop the “bailout”. Let executives lose. “To big to fail” is obsolete.
Reduce medical costs by “tort reform”, and limiting “red tape”.
Enforce immigration laws. Entitlements or benefits are for citizens. Deport criminal “illegals”. Workers with visas should receive only needed medical benefits.
Improve medical expense tax deduction for citizens reaching age 65. Provide employer tax reduction incentives for employee healthcare.
Full funding will support “Medicaid”,” Medicare”, and “Veteran’s Affairs”.
Healthcare quality should be at least that for Congress or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). A result: no drug “benefit hole”, dental coverage, improved visual coverage and no co-pays except for extended skilled level nursing.
The savings can aid unemployment compensation, and stabilize Social Security.

Elect any Republican other than McCain. He ran such a bad campaing, who could trust him to be effective, period. Time to remove any Republican not fighting Democrats. Talk is cheap!

The best thing McCain did was bring Palin on to the political scene. She is the only one with the brains and honesty to see and call it accurately: the radical left-wing socialist agenda trying to destroy America.
McCain can't be for some of the liberal fascist agenda sometimes and against it on other issues. Palin knows- its all or nothing- no fence sitting and politics as usual.
Posted by: Linda T. Liberty | January 9, 2010 1:25 PM
McCain would have led a right-wing crusade to bankrupt america. McCain would have bailed out the same people Obama did and would have had a similar "stimulus" package and perhaps instead of health care reform McCain would have driven america to ruin with an immigration reform or by escalating the "war on terror" even more than Obama has. The Republicans and Democrats are owned by the same people as soon as people start to realize that and start voting for people who won't sell them out to special interest. Of course that will probably never ever happen so we're screwed until people in this country have a complete understand of how free-market capitalism works.

McCain: "...President Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America..."
As opposed to the Extreme Right-wing Crusade to Bankrupt America that McCain and Bushco were leading us into?
Can you say 'Race to the Bottom'????
Posted by: New Jersey girl | January 9, 2010 1:41 PM
Too bad he didn't have the cojones to say that during the campaign! Too little ... too late.
Posted by: yeah right | January 9, 2010 1:51 PM
I will always respect John more than Barry, but the truth is, he's been conditioned from his suffering at the hands of our enemies to do what ever it takes to survive. His most astounding act of clarity was selecting Sarah as a running mate. She is a real american, and the left can't handle real, they flock to a fake like a moth to fire. If american idol were playing all day on Nov 2 2010 the dems wouldn't have a chance even with acorns help.

Would have been SOOOOOO much better under Mccain. Obama is gonna bring us down. Obama is a dirtbag.
Posted by: Me | January 9, 2010 2:56 PM
Where was this McCain during the presidential campaign? NOW he says that Obama is leading a left-wing campaign to bankrupt the country, but DURING the campaign? I tried to support McCain for president, but he was completely incapable of taking on Obama directly. This "war hero" who claims to always put America and its citizens first was AWOL. I honestly do not believe he wanted to be President. And by the way - wake up people! Our two party system is a joke - we have a small handful of folks who the two political parties select for us to vote for at the federal level. Guess what? The SAME people/entities are in charge of BOTH parties! We think we're engaged in this epic battle between the liberal Dems and the conservative Republicans, but all we're doing is choosing between the political equivalent of Pepsi and Coke. The folks in charge? Well, I'm sure they have a good hearty laugh over this state of affairs.
Also, here's a question for you - of the time you spend thinking about politics, how much do you spend on federal v. state politics? If you're like me, it's about 90/10 percent. This is EXACTLY wrong and NOT what the founder's wanted. The system is broken. Our only hope is to amend the constitution to ensure term limits for Congressmen, and a balanced budget tied to GDP. Otherwise, the liberties guaranteed us by the constitution are nullified. It sickens me how bad things have gotten. And yes, I just bought a ticket to go to the Tea Party convention in early February. Maybe there's some hope with this movement to take back our country and re-install the constitution.
