The "party of no'' is sounding today like the party of maybe - or maybe not.

With the White House planning a Feb. 25 summit of bipartisan congressional leaders to discuss health-care legislation, the House's Republican leaders have warned the administration that they may not be able to attend if the White House insists on pressing its same agenda.

"If the starting point for this meeting is the job-killing bills the American people have already soundly rejected, Republicans would rightly be reluctant to participate," House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Cantor) and Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) wrote to the White House.

"'Bipartisanship' is not writing proposals of your own behind closed doors, then unveiling them and demanding Republican support. Bipartisan support require bipartisan means,'' they wrote last night to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has responded maintaining that the administration has been and remains open to Republican ideas. But he has not relented, in his response to the Republican leaders, on the issues which the president considers essential.

"He's been very clear about his support for the House and Senate bills because of what they achieve for the American people: putting a stop to insurance company abuses, extending coverage to millions of hardworking Americans, getting control of rising premiums and out-of-pocket costs, and reducing the deficit," Gibbs said in a statement issued.

The Washington Post has transposed the Republican letter and the White House's response in a counterpoint worth reading this morning.

President Obama may also have a chance to break a little ice today, with Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell joining Democratic leaders at the White House this morning to talk about the job-creating measures that the White House also is seeking as it starts the second year of the president's domestic agenda with an added push for economy recovery.

Republicans will be authoring heir own destruction if they turn down Obama's health care invitation over partisan demands. They simply cannot walk away from this, especially after they threw a fit over no cameras at the Dem meetings.

This is what America wants....2 parties working to bang out plans to help us. Put up, or shut up!

Mark using the term "the No Party"is showing a lack of integrity on your part. How many bills did the Republicans introduce in the House of Representatives dealing with healthcare reform? Over 20 and it's a matter of public record if you would take the time to look in the Open Congress website.

Obama's health care summit: Just for show?
-
WASHINGTON (AP) - Could this turn into something more than

political theater? President Barack Obama's televised dialogue

with Republican lawmakers on health care, promised for later this

month, has the makings of an entertaining exchange. But the

differences between the basic Democratic and GOP ideas are

stark—and the two sides have increasingly hardened their

positions in this election year.

HEY DUDES, THERE'S PARTY AT MY HOUSE!!!!!
*
I Was a Teenage President
*
The Obama administration resembles nothing so much as a big house in the suburbs where the parents are away for the weekend. In the absence of any responsible person to take charge, the Teenager-in-Chief is letting the rest of the adolescents run wild.

They've maxed out their parents' credit cards and have begun working on their overdraft lines in earnest, as the T-I-C's budget, which proposes a $1.5-trillion deficit for the coming fiscal year, attests. With "what, me worry?" aplomb worthy of a Mad Magazine cover boy, Barack Obama delivered to Congress a bloated document which proposes that more than 40 percent of federal spending be done with borrowed money, and some of the rest courtesy of renewed taxes on America's "rich" -- those people and small businesses making unholy annual incomes greater than $250,000.

'Miss Me Yet?' Billboard With Photo Of Bush Is Real; Not An Internet Trick
*
There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: "Miss Me Yet?" Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

Some summit. When the liar in Chief had FULL control of both house he could not get anything done. Is this really surprising. This is the same person who was so smart that in Illinois 'Voted" present 130 times instead of actually taking a position. More empty posturing by an empty suit. Some leadership. Oh, by the way what did he do in the U.S. Senate for two years?? Nothing other than collect a paycheck for running for president and by the way NOT representing his constituents. This way above his "Pay grade".

Ding Dong Universal Healthcare is dead. RIP forever.

What the American people want is J-O-B-S. There I spelled it slow for you liberals. What they don't want is everything YOU want. Say goodbye to your socialist agenda.

I wonder if this writer get's compensated for working in the new democrat slogan of calling the republicans the "party of no".
I guess this is their idea of bipartisianship, just throwing out insults and stupid slogans.
Looking at obama - I guess he's the leader of the party of lies - lobbyists, taxes, earmarks, etc etc etc the list of lies goes on and on.
But - isn't Olberman the leader of the democrats?
Didn't someone once say "Divided we fall"? Well - it's a good thing he'll be joining Jimmy Carter in three years - or maybe Murtha if we're lucky! Looks like all the hate from the left is making it's way to right, and with articles like this - it'll only get worse. Democrats don't like it when they get a taste of their own medicine.

I haven't heard President Obama's comments on this yet, so I'll just state in advance that they are the most brilliant and thoughtful utterings I've ever heard, and expose the Republifraud Party's hatred of adults, children, Eskimos, Latvians, the sick and the well.

Although this is a first good step by President Obama in calling the Congressional Leadership of both parties together at the White House, this should have been done last year. The Obama White House and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi need to recognize that to get Bi-Partisan support for legislation there needs to be some give and take in the negotiations by both sides. Up to this point Obama has talked bi-partisanship but it always come down to it is our complete bill or nothing. That is not the way you get a bi-partisan piece of legislation passed in Congress. There has to be some compromise by both the Democrats and Republicans. Even George Bush the Younger, who many on the Left like to demonize in their posts, recognized this. Maybe that is the reason Bush was more successful in getting his legislation enacted even when the Democrats controlled Congress.

Mark, the "party of no" crack would have been ok, if you would have then referred to Obama's invitation as inviting the GOP to a "session of political theater." That's all this is.

What kind of meeting is it, when the president says, "i want to hear your ideas, but I'm not going to change my plans."

The vast majority of Americans, 68% don't want obama-care and 86% are very satisfied with their health care, so if panty waist still wants to forge ahead with his socialistic agenda change the party of "NO" to the party of "HELL NO!"

Paulo

In a Washington Post poll it says 85% of Americans are concerned about the rising cost of Healthcare. So lets stop the crap about people not being concerned and get to work. Whether they want the bill as it is so far, may be another question, but they want something. Who is are the ones out of touch?

Pleaes TeaBaggers, take care of your breathren. I implore you, the children of the Ozarks are suffering from a terrible disease known as Mountain Dew Mouth. Google it! TeaBaggers unite! Stand up for your slack-jawed yokel brothers and sisters and help their inbred children who suffer from Mountain Dew Mouth.

Obama's invitation as inviting the GOP to a "session of political theater." That's all this is.

From the party whining about tranparency, I don't get the objection. Put a little sunlight on those wonderful ideas you have and let America see. What are you afraid of?

Isn't it obvious why Obama has been such a failure up to this point?

Clearly Karl Rove and George W Bush have been sneaking into the White House every night and messing up all of Obama’s work he did that day. I mean, what other reason could there be why Obama is having such a hard time governing with his towering intellect and all the awesome hope and change?

bill r., you are correct as indicated in the Washington Post Poll that a vast majority of Americans are very concerned about the rising cost of health care in this country. Everyone, including myself, that pays Health Insurance Premiums can attest to that. The American Public wants some type of Health reform to bring costs under control and they also want preexisting conditions covered. But a majority of Americans do not want a new multi-trillion dollar Socialized Health Program run by the Federal Government as Obama and the Democratic Leadership proposed. They want reform and improvements of the current system. not Socialized Medicine. Obama should have called that White House Meeting of the Congressional Leadership last year to discuss this very pressing issue of high medical costs. We now are in an election year and getting any major program through Congress will be very difficult. Most members of Congress, including many of the Democrats, are more worried about the November elections and will not do anything to jeopardize their reelection chances.

Thanks to republican Scott Brown "41" getting elected, the party of "NO" has turned into the party of "HELL NO", and the american people can breathe a sigh of relief. NO-goverment run heathcare, NO-Cap$Tax, NO-Amnesty(so called immigration reform), NO-card check, NO-more $787billion dollar pork filled wasted stimulus packages. The Republicans are stupid if they go to Obama's Dog and pony show, that will just be another speech and republican bash fest. The Democrats made this horrible bill in secret and backroom deals, bribes and pork to secure votes. Now the Democrats think that the Republicans can be brought in to support this? the same bill that the majority of americans and the Republicans were against from the start?

In 2008, Obama and his supporters warned me that if I voted for McCain, unemployment would soar to 10%.
For once in his life, Obama's prediction proved true.

The president smoked the GOP so badly at their meeting the other week, they are running scared.

The "low approval" ratings have nothing to do with what is in the president's plan, it is with the fact that he has not accomplished getting it passed yet.

The problem is that there are almost as many dems, as republicans in congress who take it up the ass from the insurance companies.

1 California inusrer just raised rates 40% without warning to their customers and with no logical explanation. That makes a typical family plan go from abut $500 a month to $700. With most of congress in their back pocket, they continue to rip you off. Wake up America. Tell congress you want health care reform NOW.

"GOP Generational Theft by Deception Evil Doers Speak!" Just do nothing! Just say nothing! She's the Eve in EEVS! Just scream! Just shout! Let america, americans what the GOP TEA PARTY is all about! No "Healthcare" for you! Just us! No jobs for you! Just "Sarah." Her lips, her hips, her thighs got all of so "hypnotized." Just scream! Just shout! Just do nothing! He must fail! Even if America "fails." It's GOP! Drink "TEA" Let's PARTY! Sarah hears the voices! George heard the voices! We hear the voices! Just do nothing! Just fail! It's GOP!

This just proves that the Disaster-in-Chief Obimbo is not interested in Republican ideas. He wasn't in 2009 and he isn't in 2010. Most Americans have recognized that as his approval numbers continue tanking faster than the returns did on the movie Ishtar.

You really can't work with ignorant rubes who laugh and mock the idea of driving fuel efficient cars rather than gas hog SUVs. The idiot TeaBaggers think bigger is always better so they throw their fat weight behind their corporate masters and TeaBag any reform efforts. Dolts! All of them.
