by Mark Silva
Ben Quayle, son of a former vice president, plans to run for Congress in Arizona, father Dan Quayle announced today in an appearance on FOX News.
And here came word from another former Republican vice president -- Bush 41's political partner -- about the Obama administration: Quayle accused President Barack Obama of having a "''we know best" attitude,'' someone who "does talk down to the American people.''
Quayle also said today that he is sure that there are days when Obama wishes he hadn't named Eric Holder attorney general. (No word, though, on whether Bush 43 might have regretted his major choices of A.G.'s -- John Ashcroft and Roberto Gonzales).
On FOX News Channel's America Live today, Quayle told the network's Megyn Kelly that son Ben is running .
"It's the next generation of leadership,'' the former one-term vice president said. "The big news is my son Ben Quayle today filed his papers for congressman of the 3rd congressional district here in Arizona.... That in the Quayle family is big news.''
Quayle, who ran with Bush 41 in 1988, had this to say about Sarah Palin, his party's nominee for vice president 20 years later:
"She's able to capture that anxiety, she's able to capture that really -- attack this "we know best" attitude in Washington starting with the president of the United States, who does talk down to the American people, and the American people don't like it,'' Quayle said . And she's really rallying those forces...
."She has a large following of support, a large following of detractors. My guess is she doesn't really know today if she will run for president or not."
The father insisted the son will run with his own strategy -- "It's his campaign. I'll do whatever he wants me to do or whatever he doesn't want me to do.''
It's the terrorist trial question where Quayle is critical of Holder -- and the initial decision to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind, in a federal courthouse in New York City. "Let's face it, he's a terrorist he's a combatant. Eric Holder said he is going to be found guilty so what are we doing?''
"Obviously I'm fairly certain that there are days that President Obama wonders why he appointed Eric Holder Attorney General. Even though he's a nice gentleman, he does have some pretty far out ideas and seems to be fairly stubborn on those ideas."

Comments
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Quayle is the original Sarah Palin.
I'm not surprised that Quayle would think Obama is talking down to him, a second grader would be talking down to that idiot too.

Wow, Republicans always manage to find some of the dumbest people (Quayle) on earth to be their "leaders". I guess they figure those kind of people can communicate to their toothless redneck Republican base the best.
Here's the conclusion from a new poll which studies the mind of the average Republican simpleton in America.
Between 20% and 50% of the Republican party is either insane or mind-numbingly stupid, and Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein hints that the results show "a substantial portion of the Republican base is completely divorced from reality."

BREAKING NEWS!!!
"Washington Times: GOP lawmakers privately admit stimulus created jobs"
If there's one thing that unites the Republican Party it's their phony claim that the stimulus bill was a job-killing piece of legislation that was the worst thing in the whole entire world for the economy, right? Or maybe that's just what unites them in public, because in private the Washington Times reports they've been working overtime to get their hands on job-creating stimulus cash.
Remember Joe "You Lie" Wilson?
"Rep. Joe Wilson, South Carolina Republican who became famous after yelling, "You lie," during Mr. Obama's addresses to Congress in September, voted against the stimulus. Nonetheless, Mr. Wilson elbowed his way into the rush for federal stimulus cash in a letter he sent to Mr. Vilsack on behalf of a foundation seeking funding. "We know their endeavor will provide jobs and investment in one of the poorer sections of the Congressional District," he wrote to Mr. Vilsack in the Aug. 26, 2009, letter.

-
Kudos to the Washington Times for having done the leg work of filing the FOIA requests to expose these examples of Republican lawmakers talking out of both sides of their mouths, publicly lambasting the stimulus as a job-killing measure, but privately conceding that it actually created jobs. It's hard to imagine a more effective way of demonstrating Republican hypocrisy on the question of whether the stimulus bill creates jobs, and Dems should remind them of it every waking day.

TEABAGGERS Palling Around With Terrorists
Bet "no one" ever saw this one coming:
"The Massachusetts man charged this week with stockpiling weapons after saying he feared an imminent "Armageddon" appears to have been active in the Tea Party movement, and saw Sarah Palin, who he said is on a "righteous 'Mission from God,'" as the only figure capable of averting the destruction of society."
"... found with a stash of military grade weapons, explosive devices including tear gas and pepper ball canisters, camouflage clothing, knives, handcuffs, bulletproof vests and helmets, and night vision goggles, say police."
"But it appears that Girard had lately found a community with which to share some of his growing fears. A "Greg Girard," listing his location as Manchester, Mass., has a personal page on the "Patriots of America" online network, a popular site affiliated with the Tea Party movement."
.
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/02/man_charged_for_stockpiling_weapons_was_tea_partie.php
.
So, what prompted Girard to stock up (and advise his wife to shoot "traitors" in the head)? .....He was afraid President Obama was coming for his guns.
Of course "no one" could have anticipated that anyone would try to act on the unfounded fears that the Right Wing Noise Machine media whips up about President Obama, right?

Dan Quayle not talking down to the American people:
I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican.
I have made good judgements in the Past. I have made good judgements in the Future.
People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history.
Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child.
The American people would not want to know of any misquotes that Dan Quayle may or may not make.

NY TIMES/CBS POLL!!!
Poll Finds Edge for Obama Over G.O.P. Among the Public
"Still, the poll suggests that Mr. Obama and his party have an opportunity to deflect the anger and anxiety if they can frame the election not as a referendum on the president and his party, but as a choice between them and a Republican approach that yielded results under Mr. Bush that much of the nation still blames for the country’s woes. That is what the White House has been trying to do since the beginning of the year."
"For all the erosion in support for Mr. Obama, Americans say he better understands their needs and problems and has made more of an effort to be bipartisan than Congressional Republicans, the poll found."
"It feels like an attempt to sabotage the majority (Democrats) and to regain control of power rather than working on a compromise," John Smith, a Republican from Greenville, S.C., said of his party after participating in the poll."

Nobody's going to beat a generic new face this year, but elections are still a race between that guy (Democrats) and the other guy (Republicans). In this case, the other guy (Republicans) still sucks worse. And this poll is the answer to this

I wonder why all Republicans are using the same comments they heard on Rush's show. Dan Quayle is just repeating what Rush said about Obama talking down to the people. It is word for word Rush right off of his radio show. I heard the same words from Gingrich on Fox. If Rush the Republican leader they have no hope. A third party is needed.

Actually, Jesse Jackson tried to use that rap on Obama in the summer of 2008:
Live mike caught him telling someone he was going to "cut Obama's balls off" for "talkin' down to black folk".
[JJ should know all about that!]
Of course, JJ was not able to cut Obama's balls off, or do much else to help his pals the Clintons......
Isn't it amazing what surfaces in this little involuntary winter interlude when Warshington is snowbound?
Charming, isn't it?
But Quayle isn't the first to use that particular canard against Obama.
Somehow Jesse and Dan sort of complement each other, or deserve each other, or yin/yang each other, or something like that--odd bedfellows, they.

GOP Welfare Queens Who Attacked Obama's Stimulus, Yet Enjoyed Billions in Benefits
Oh the hypocrisy: Republicans have been attending ribbon cuttings for stimulus-funded projects that they voted against.
- Republican Senate Candidate Rep. Mike Castle Takes Credit For Over $5 Million In Stimulus Funds He Voted To Kill
- In KY, Republican Mitch McConnell Brags About Stimulus Projects, Requests More Money; In DC, McConnell Says Stimulus Should End
Republicans Who Opposed The Stimulus Continue To Pan It As A ‘Failure,’ While Also Taking Credit For Its Success
- Republican Jindal Tours Louisiana Attacking ‘Washington Spending’ While Handing Out Jumbo-Sized Stimulus Checks. Jindal takes credit for stimulus, presents constituents with jumbo-sized stimulus check.
- Republican Rep. Shuster Bashes The Stimulus As A Failure While Taking Credit For Its Success
Republicans Who Opposed The Stimulus Line Up To Criticize It Publicly, Request More Money Privately
- Republican Kit Bond Touts Effects Of Stimulus Bill He Voted Against
- All In A Day’s Work: Republican Rep. Kingston Smears The Stimulus On TV, Takes Credit For Stimulus Jobs In His District
The GOP is not interested in productive policy, they are only interested in sabotaging the President's agenda. I'm not sure what good he thinks this meeting with them (GOP) is going to do other than hopefully point out their rank hypocrisy, but so far he's giving way too much deference to the party of "no" that deserves none. The Republicans are more than happy to continue to drive the economy into a ditch if they think it will keep them in office.

Obama
Barack Obama has requested his supporters report on any civilians who dissent from his policies:
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., hammered the "small town" remarks of Sen. Barack Oama, D-Ill., as "elitist and they’re out of touch."
To honor Father's Day Obama lectures dads on proper parenting
We've all seen the Obama Commercial, I mean public service announcement, well let's face it: it's a commercial disguised as a public service announcement.
President Obama Lectures Christians On 'Civility'
Obama Lectures on Financial Responsibility
Obama Lectures to Students on Virtues of Hard Work
Obama Lectures America on Patriotism
Obama lectures America: Do as I say, not as I do
1,740,000 Results on Google for Obama lectures.
“Obama lectures GOP again”
The lecturer in chief is on TV everyday telling us what to do. I'd say he's an elitist that talks down to people constantly.
