There is nothing like a stand-out speaker to set the tone for an event, and the debut of the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville last night got a jump-start:
Tom Tancredo, the former Republican congressman from Colorado who ran for president two years ago, opened the show with a rant on "the cult of multiculturalism" in America -- mocking people who speak languages other than English as illiterate -- and the "Socialist ideologue'' who serves as president: "Barack Hussein Obama.''
"The race for America is on right now," Tancredo told several hundred people who have paid several hundred dollars apiece to attend the weekend forum at the Gaylord Opryland hotel hosting the TEA Party. "You have launched the counter-revolution."
Convention organizer Judson Phillips says the event's 600 tickets have sold out. Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP nominee for vice president, will address the crowd Saturday night. They'll hear from Minnesota's Rep. Michele Bachmann as well. They'll have workshops, strategy sessions and a lot of media.
Tancredo, whose campaign for the GOP nomination in 2008 mainly provided a forum for railing against illegal immigration, attempted to draw a certain battle line between this TEA Party movement and the powers that be in Washington:
"People who could not spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House -- name is Barack Hussein Obama," Tancredo told the audience. "The revolution has come. It was led by the cult of multiculturalism aided by leftist liberals all over who don't have the same ideas about America as we do."
Yet Tancredo handed Obama a certain amount of credit: If Obama had not won election and pushed the country to left, he said, the TEA Party movement would never have been born. It should be a hot weekend in Nashville.

More than $70 billion in wealth left New Jersey between 2004 and 2008 as affluent residents moved elsewhere, according to a report released Wednesday that marks a swift reversal of fortune for a state once considered the nation’s wealthiest.
Conducted by the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College, the report found wealthy households in New Jersey were leaving for other states — mainly Florida, Pennsylvania and New York — at a faster rate than they were being replaced.
• Rutgers University economists say it could take seven years to recover from recession
“The wealth is not being replaced,” said John Havens, who directed the study. “It’s above and beyond the general trend that is affecting the rest of the northeast.”

Today's Gallup Poll (so far, not reported by the Swamp) finds that 53% of Democrats and 61% of liberals have a "positive image of socialism." That could explain a lot about the Obama administration.
And it means that when Tancredo describes Obama as a socialist, he's only echoing what Liberals really wish for!

silly white people; enjoy the last 20 years of your reign.
and isn't it more likely the wealthy people are leaving New Jersey because it's a cesspool?

Bruce...It could be the key word "positive". I'm not sure the rabid have a "positive" view of anything. They are basically concerned about their own miserable lives.

OR, COULD BE TAXES, YOU RACIST FUZZY
Posted by: Bobby Mobbie | February 5, 2010 2:05 PM
fuzzy dunlop your a racist and now we all know it.
The reason that people are leaving New Jersey is because of the taxes. New York City has the same problem. See if you put a special tax on the people that are paying the most taxes already they leave. In New York City less than 5% of the population pays over 80% of the taxes for the whole city. That's just like the loony liberals calling Bush's tax cuts only for the rich. Now in Obama's budget all of those tax cuts are going to be allowed to expire. That means all tax brackets except the 10% bracket are going up, yes all tax brackets from the top to the bottom. Now the 10% bracket is going away entirely but, here's the catch with the majority of the people that were in that bracket are going to be moved to the next highest bracket. Now the rest will fall in with that 30% of the working population that pays no taxes at all. Plus Obama is bringing back the death tax and the marriage penalty. Raising capital gains across the board. November is going to be fun and I really will enjoy watching loony liberals bending over backwards trying to swallow the propaganda. I will keep reading financial rags and reliable news sources, checking out governments own websites to get the real numbers. But don't get me wrong I am not a Republican and really do not care if you are a Democrat when I look at is the ideology you know; liberal, conservative, moderate, libertarian, and independent. And seeing how the vast majority are not liberal the midterms should be fun. Once you look at reliable polling websites most races for state governor are being led by conservatives. I have not started looking at Senatorial or Representatives races they usually heat up around mid-summer. Here in Illinois the liberal running for governor has been saddled with a big problem from the get-go. And the conservative running for the seat that in reality Obama only held for 164 days is already ahead in the polls.

I am a hurt "Real" tea party person
Ron Paul supporters started this movement in 2007 as a revolt against Big Govt. Bush. Now to have Sarah "Bush" Palin speaking at OUR tea party, sitting around eating lobster is a crushing blow to us. Yes, I am devastated that a bunch of bigots crashed our "Liberty" loving tea party. :(
This is our website: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/ (Sorry, no lobster)

These folks are not coming off well at all, but I guess that's what happens when you invite a bunch of kooks like Tom Tancredo, Joseph Farah and Rick Scarborough.
If this is what the Tea Partiers are selling, not many will be buying.

I heard about S*** for brains the other night going back to the dry well during that speech, by saying the President's name this way: Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Well, I found out that the name Tancredo has a Germanic origin, and if someone wanted to, they could say he and his family may have ties to nazis at one time or another. But, oh no, he wouldn't want someone to insinuate that would he?!
