The press secretary had the president's message in the palm of his hand.

by Mark Silva

"Talk to the hand.''

That could be the big one-liner of the next presidential debate, the way the political body language is working lately.

Taking a palm-cue from Republican Sarah Palin, who penned the talking points of her address to the TEA Party convention on the inside of her hand over the weekend, the White House press secretary arrived at today's press briefing armed -- or handed -- with notes of his own.

Only Robert Gibbs appeared to have something other than a political debate on his mind -- or in his hand -- with the scrawling of a black marker on his palm: "Eggs... milk... bread...'' (He crossed out bread, figuring he'd make pancakes for his son instead.)
.
Or was he in fact scoring some points? Ever the Obama team-player, Gibbs also had included some basic thematic messages on his palm, "hope'' and "change.''

In case you missed it, this was how Palin played her own hand:

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Palin, for her part, is still getting over the ribbing for penning "Energy... budget.... tax'' and more on her palm in Nashville. Which also has raised the question if, had some of the great speeches of our time been delivered with palm notes, the memorable lines would have been much shorter: "Nothing to fear... Ask not.... Tear down!''

HAHAHA!!!!

I can't wait to hear all the crying from the Wingnut cretins after this....

HAHAHA!!!

HAHAHAHA!!!!

This just goes to show you how childish this White House along with the liberal mainstream media (yes you Mark) has become. No coverage of Obama's approval dropping or his not being able to pronounce corpsman four times as he read it off of a Teleprompter. Yes it's four times last year once and last week three times.

This is just plain funny! Has Palin's ego gotten so big that she thought she could read notes written on her hand, on camera, and no one would notice?

If she was in a class taking a test she would have been BUSTED!.....oh yeah, Republicans don't believe in education......nevermind.

These Republican Teabagger morons need to learn the U.S. constitution that they're always waving in the air.........and say they want followed.:

Fifteenth Amendment (1870): Prohibits the federal government and the states from using a citizen's race, color, or previous status as a slave as a qualification for voting.

Note the date??.....I guess they can't read the whole constitution, just the parts that they like.

KEEP LAUGHING DUMMYCRATS . . . ALL THE WAY TO NOV . . . THE JOKE IS ON YOU.

Hey Teabaggers!......you can start your "purge of crooks" with these guys.

Go for it!. Show us you mean business and favor "neither party"..........hahaha, yeah right.

Sen. Christopher S. Bond regularly railed against President Obama's economic stimulus plan as irresponsible spending that would drive up the national debt. But behind the scenes, the Missouri Republican quietly sought more than $50 million from a federal agency for two projects in his state.

"Mr. Bond was not alone. More than a dozen Republican lawmakers, while denouncing the stimulus to the media and their constituents, privately sent letters to just one of the federal government's many agencies seeking stimulus money for home-state pork projects.

The letters to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, expose the gulf between lawmakers' public criticism of the overall stimulus package and their private lobbying for projects close to home.

"It's not illegal to talk out of both sides of your mouth, but it does seem to be a level of dishonesty troubling to the American public," said Melanie Sloan, executive director of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington".

Palin's documented use of teleprompters:

Tiresome though it gets, once more let us remind the Republican Teabagger goons, the notes on Palin's hand were the answers to interview questions that she had been given beforehand. She had the questions beforehand. Got that? And she still needed the notes on her hand to remember her core values. It was about on par with writing on her hand. "Abortion= bad."

Obama mops floor with House Republicans, no scripted questions, no teleprompters, no nothing but "him and them," toe to toe, outnumbered, and in enemy territory.

Hopefully Sarah does her next speech to a 6th grade class with the podium, speakers and telepropmters (In a tiny classroom mind you) like Ozero did. I still get a good laugh when i see that picture.LOL

Childish, Very , Very Childish.

And these are the people that are suppose to be leading us???

Hahahahahahaha, Robert Fibbs tried to make a funny!
I love how the corrupt media is in a tizzy ovfer Palin scribbling a few words on her hand, when their boob of a president can't even talk in front of a bunch of first graders without his prized TelePrompter!
If Robert Fibbs really wanted to be funny, he should have entered with a TelePrompter nailed to his head or shoved up his patootie!

I wonder if it would take her 5 schools to finish it, or will she just quit half way through.

Biff,
If the "mainstream" corporate media is really "liberal" like you right mouth-breathers are trained to claim, why is it that when the Fairness Doctrine comes up for discussion every single Republican overlord (Rush, Fox etc) lights their hair on fire in opposition of it?

You need to pull your head out of the right wing noise machine for awhile and get some fresh air.

Gibbs really is the Pauly Shore of the Obama White House.

Way to go Barry, you sure know how to surround yourself with the best and the brightest.

Gibbs just jumped the shark- what a moron- I can't believe Obama would let this guyt speak for the administration.

Ironically enough Palin, Andrea Mitchell and even Keith Olbermann beat him to this joke... what a clever man.

What I want to hear about instead of this guy stroking himself with stale humor;

1.Security- Can we hire someone at DHS and the Justice department that has a clue?
2.JOBS-Where are the jobs?
3.ENERGY-What is the admins plan to make more of our domestic energy available to US businesses and consumers?...When will the Administration quit stalling on making a decsion about drilling for oil and gas-see that attached... http://biggovernment.com/vhaley/2010/02/09/drillgate-internal-emails-shows-obama-team-lying-to-public/

STEPHEN COLBERT SUMS UP PALIN AND THE REPUBLICAN TEABAGGERS PERFETLY!!!

I believe that we are all part of a new reality show and Princess Sarah Winks-a-Lot is the Star character. If the emergence of this Republican halfwit as a national political LEADER was a made for TV movie, it would be preposterous. That any meaningful % of Americans believe that this made for the 24 hour news cycle opportunist is the answer to our problems is frightening.

Sarah appeals to the least common denominator in the very people (toothless, low IQ idiots) whom her beloved Republican party has preyed upon since the Whigs and Tory's were finally renamed.

When I see her at a lecturn, performing in front of the Republican Tea Bags, I feel queezy. It's like the Truman Show.

Somebody please find the door and let the Republican Baracuda out and back into the sea.

KATIE COURIC: What do you read?

SARAH PALIN: My hand.

Apparently you weren't paying attention in class again, Lil Johnny Dimwit.

Just last week Pres Obama ate the House Republicans lunch, off script, without a teleprompter.

NO you mindless robot!! These are politicians and members of the Administration. You are supposed to live your life and go about you business as you see fit. The fact that you just revealed you are nothing more than a sheep waiting for someone to tell you where to stand, what to do, what to say is very telling. It helps me understand you're just an average TeaBagger. In other words you're an idiot.

Sarah Palin's Nashville speech was the most significant oration of the 21st century.

See:

How's that "Hope" and "Change" working out, Obama voters?

Oh really? 1 year and 2 months in office and some nutbag sets his own panties on fire and you're running for cover? Stay there ok. Bush was in office 8 months and the whole world changed due to his lack of a decent HSD. Are you just stupid or dare I say the "R" word?

SARAH PALIN = ANDY DICK
YEAHHH BUDDDDY TOOOO FUNNNNY

He was doing it satirically, so by Palin's standards, it's okay.

ANDY DICK . . . REALLY? IS THAT THE BEST YOU'VE GOT? FIGURES.

HHH once more you show that you are either ignorant of the facts or two young to remember the fairness doctrine. The fairness doctrine stifles political commentary over the airwaves. National Public Radio at that time was a wasteland of how-to shows and classical music. And the reason why nobody wants it to be reenacted can be summed up in one word, censorship. I am going to give you the benefit of doubt and say you were too young. The mainstream media started going to the left in the early 70s and there were no voice of the right. All you have to do is read the articles from reporters on how they bring down a president and can control who is in power after Watergate. My head is clear and my vision is fine, I do not need anybody to tell on me what to think or say like so many liberals today. I lived through it and saw the changes. A perfect example is Air America in its attempt to sell liberalism and we now know it does not sell all that well. When your customer base only accounts for 1/5 of the voters how much are you really going to make. Plus I also see in your post you left out the disgraceful attempt by Obama when speaking about a brave military profession. Corpsman have received more awards for bravery than most other professions in the military if you look at how few there are over all.

Somehow I think miss pronouncing Nucular is a little more frightening for a Commander in Chief. Just sayin...

Posted by: Tim Green, Fairfield CT | February 9, 2010 7:34 PM

Tim- really? You boil the whole thing down to "some nutbag sets his own panties on fire”? And you want to call me stupid?
Your ignoring facts in your myopic defense of the messiahs admin...
The "nutbag" almost killed 300 passengers and who knows how many on the ground …
HSD director initially claimed the "system worked"- apparently our system is either completely dependent on passengers preventing terrorist attacks...or the HSD director has no clue what the system is supposed to do.
DOJ (Holder)fell all over himself to mirandize the "nutbag" and decides that we have enough intelligence on the "Nutbag" in 50 minutes of interviews, all this while the guy is still half sedated, and by agents who have no access to the intelligence data already gathered on the "nutbag"-
No senior intelligence people had any idea that the decision was made to mirandize the "nutbag" – effectively shutting off any intelligence that the “nutbag” may have had – he is talking now, but how much opportunity had been lost in the month when the “nutbag” wasn’t talking?

All this at a time when all of the intelligence people in the admin are saying that it is almist a sure thing that Al Queda will make another terrorist attempt in the next six months..

Tim- your type of thought process is exactly what puts us at risk... you want to reduce the whole thing down defending your hero politically by ignoring reality and common sense- use whatever letter you like to describe yourself.

I do believe he was not reading it off a Teleprompter. And he got it right after that where Obama did not. Apples and oranges.

Posted by: heartburn | February 10, 2010 9:29 AM

Oh really? And how dependent are your references of 'Maybe" "Could Have" "Almost" ? 9/11 DID happen buddy. It is your thought process that gives the terrorists the upper hand. Perhaps you should stick to crossword puzzles that many words can "Kind of" fit in the boxes but dont necessarily mean the same thing.

But back to the issue at "Hand". ifyou people really think writing crib notes on the palm of your hand is a sign of true leadership, then man you people are dumber than a door knob! And tell me smart ass, what exactly is the difference between reading from pages of notes and reading a teleprompter? Palin did read from notes besides writing key issues on her hand! And if she cant even remember what the key issues are without crib notes, how the heck do you expect this quitter to run a country?

And he got it right after that where Obama did not. Apples and oranges.

Posted by: Crooks_In_DC | February 10, 2010 12:56 PM

Sorry to disappoint you but Bush NEVER corrected his mispronunciation of nuclear. And again, writing crib notes of 3 key issues on your hand is a bit elementary school! and that's giving her even that much credit! You people can defend her all you want, lets leave it up to the educated people to decide in 2012 and lets see how she does then! LOL!!! I Cant Wait!

That photo says it all:

Showing way too much leg, needing bifocals to read palms.

Gaining weight.

Sarah, baby, we scarcely knew ye.

Pathetic boob.

Failed female version of George Bush.

Someone Joe Sixpack would "like to have a beer with."

I expected Robert Gibbs' palm to have a lot more hair on it.

I expect Robert Gibbs to be gone by the end of the year. Even the reporters in the White House press room are growing wary of him. And I expect quite a few incumbents in Congress to be packing their bags come the end of the year.

I like to watch Gibbs' briefings at the lunch hour at my club.

Where I am the token Dem.....

Anyhoo, he is doing just fine.

It irks the racists that a white southern boy is Press Secretary.....

He's almost as no-drama as No Drama Obama himself.

Which no doubt helped him get this job.

So don't hold your breath DC Crook.

And I expect Palin will be long forgotten by 2012 as her hand will be stuck up in a new Muppet movie.
