The Swamp

by Mark Silva

The Gallup Poll, which has been taking the daily temperature of the Obama administration, reported a new low today in its gauge of public approval for the job that the president is performing.

Just 46 percent of those surveyed over the past three days voiced approval for the job that President Barack Obama is performing, with 45 percent voicing disapproval, Gallup reports today.

The level of disapproval, interestingly, does not represent a record high in Gallup's daily tracking -- that was 48 percent, in late January. But 46-percent approval marks a new low for the president by Gallup's count, by one notch. Other polls have measured lower nadirs, others higher -- Obama's approval has held at 53 percent in a new AP-GFK poll -- but we've showcased Gallup for some time for its neutrality and for the convenience of comparing its measurements of past presidents for six decades.

This president, who started his term with a 69-percent approval rating in the Gallup track, has confronted more than a year of tough economic times and equally challenging politics -- the economy is turning around, by the measure of the Gross Domestic Product, though unemployment still hovers near 10 percent, and now, after more than a year of pressing for healthcare reform, the president is pressing for an "up or down vote'' on legislation that the public appears largely wary about.

"That's okay. Because my job is not being popular,'' Obama said last night at a fundraiser for a Democratic senator in St. Louis. "My job is solving problems for the American people. I've got a greater responsibility. I've got a deeper mission. (Applause.) I'm looking at 10 years from now, will you look back and say that what he did made sense for the American people; not whether tomorrow people are going to be looking and saying, that made him popular..''

Dear lecturer in Chief, please find a chair in the corner until 2012. Nobody believes you. You, yourself have destroyed you own credibility. You are not doing anything for the American people. You never meant to do anything FOR them. You AND your elistist liberal crew DO THINGS TO THEM.

Obama and the Left at the Brink
In President Obama's desperation to pass his radical health care reform bill, we have had the public show of the Obama administration and the (once-)mainstream media searching in vain for that elusive consensus that those dastardly Republicans, who only want to see the president fail, refuse to provide.
-
The true believers, led by President Obama, have their roots in Marxism: class struggle to overturn the oppression under capitalism into a socialist and ultimately classless society by any means possible. In their worldview, the United States is the epitome of this oppression.
-
Therefore, to the hardcore Left, any tactics are justified and include the following:

- Make promises that cannot be kept or have never been intended to be kept while stating their support for the poor and dispirited.
- Shamelessly exploit envy, race, and ignorance.
- Portray government as the savior while exaggerating or creating fallacious reports of capitalistic greed and dishonesty.
- Use embellished or outright false statistics to make the case for any policy.
- Tell the world how smart they are, and thus capable of leading the Proletariat to the Promised Land.
- And above all, be relentless, including to the point of bankrupting the country, to achieve the objective: namely, power for the sake of power.

I guess, President Obama now knows how Senator Hutchinson felt, down in her home, Republican-Libertarian-T.Bagging state, when she got whacked by her own constituents !! At least, President Obama has just completed his first year in Office. Keep on trucking, President Obama, you have my vote and you are doing a heck of a job, even if Corporate America and their lackeys and media mouthpieces don't say so !!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

OBAMA;
~~NEW LOW IN GALLUP~~

Does this mean the vast majority of the country think differently than Don F, billy r. and the rest of the loons that camp out here?
Can you spell, buyers remorse?

Paulo

I really approved of Bush and his whooping 28%. He was a real man!

Happy now, Bruce?

Talking Bumper Sticker,

No one ever said it was going to be easy to clean up the messes that the Bush Republicans made.

We already tried having a Wingnut hero president who is dumber than a bag of rocks (Bush Jr), and you voted for him....twice.

I love watching the Wingnutters clap their hands and jump up and down everytime Pres Obama's poll numbers move up or down. The Republicans have NO ONE who can beat Obama in 2012, NO ONE. And nothing makes me happier than watching them pound their chests about how they're going to have huge sweeping victories this fall. They won't, they'll still be the minority party after this fall. And I can't wait to come on here and mock them after they get the crushing news that confirms this.

The Republican party stands for nothing - they are nothing more than a PR firm for Billionaires, Mega Corporations and Big Oil. Their entire ideology is nothing more than Frank Luntz tested and approved talking points, like this:

Republican Party Talking Points Dictionary.

- "Obstructionism" - only refers to Democratic minorities opposing Republican proposals.

- "Tyranny" - is found when an elected Democratic majority passes legislation that Republicans don't like.

- "Reconciliation" - describes a Senate process that Republicans are allowed to use to overcome Democratic "obstructionism."

- "Terrorism" - refers to acts of political violence committed by people who aren't right wing white guys.

- "Bipartisanship" - is found when Democrats agree to pass Republican legislation.

- "Big government" - describes a dangerous phenomenon to be avoided, except in cases relating to reproductive rights or gays.

- "Treason" - refers to Democrats criticizing a Republican administration during a war.

- "Patriotism" - refers to Republicans criticizing a Democratic administration during a war.

- "Fiscal responsibility" - is a national priority related to keeping our deficit in check, which only applies when Republicans are in the minority.

- "Parliamentarian" - is a seemingly independent official on the Hill who Senate Republicans are allowed to fire when the Republicans disapprove of his/her rulings.

- "Government-run health care" - doesn't refer to popular government-run health care programs like Medicare.

- "The heartland" - is the most wonderful place in America, even if no conservative pundit would be caught dead living there.

- "Serving your country" - is honorable if you're a Republican, but a subject of derision when Democrats do it.

That reminds me of my favorite Henny Youngman joke:

How's your wife?

Compared to what?

O, is the economy not up on its hind legs and singing quite yet?

Still digging out not only from blizzards caused by non-existent climate change but from the most disastrous administration since Herbert Hoover?

How's Obama?

Compared to what?

Apparently more and more people are beginning to see through the lies, deception and corruption this admin has used to push socialized medicine. People know that paying higher taxes and insurance premiums for 10 yrs to support 5 yrs of benefits is a scam. We don't need to wait 10 years to know that this pres. is full of crap. It is obvious today.

For someone that pushed the stimulus to keep unemployment under 8%, it is clear that this liar has either surrounded himself with idiots or he really is as stupid as he seems. Neither alternative is very reassuring that any projections are grounded in reality as even the rosiest projections show this will crush the economy with unsustainable deficit levels.

Would that include lies like the one you're telling right now, Hans?

Obama and the Dems gave the middle class their largest tax cut in history just last year.

"Obama's tax cuts, meanwhile, are short-term refunds paid directly to working and middle class families (some of which Republicans have denounced as "welfare"). As such, GOP lawmakers have rejected one of the largest, if not the largest, tax cut ever proposed by a president -- which just so happens to be targeted at the working and middle class families Obama vowed to look out for."

The AP poll oversampled Democrats by something like 11 points. If they'd used an unbiased sample, who knows how low Obama would be?

Yeah.....except for the fact that you have absolutely no proof of this whatsoever, aside from hearing it on Crazy Glenn Beck's three ring circus tv show or something.

The president along with the Democrats have been sinking sense the middle of last year. The only ones who do not get this are the liberals but then again they are the minority.

Obama:
"I'm looking at 10 years from now, will you look back and say that what he did made sense for the American people"

In other words, it will all be about "me me me me me me..."

Clown in DC,

We'll see who's really sinking this fall, won't we?

You Wingnutters are already pouring champaign on yourselves and dancing in the end zone thinking that you're going to be the majority party this fall, while totally disregarding the fact that Republicans in Congress are polling lower than anyone right now.

Remember that when I come on here and mercilessly mock you this fall after you get the crushing news that the Repugs are still the minority party.

Pres Obama Outscores Republicans and Congress in New Poll:

"A poll just released by New York Times/CBS today had some interesting findings. Despite the Tea Party movement, President Obama is still viewed much more positively than the Republicans or Congress. It found that Americans have not forgotten about George W. Bush and that being an incumbent this year will be toxic. It also gave insights into what the Democrats should do in the coming months to stay in power. While Republicans feel that they have the momentum going into the elections this year, the poll found that the Republican Party is just may not want to start popping the corks yet, they are still less popular than Democrats."

Do a president's poll numbers ever go up after election? Just askin......

Triple H.

Once again you show your a box of rocks. The poll you're quoting is from February. And here's a little tip for you President Bush was polling better than Congress when he left office. And let's not forget that no president in the history of the United States has fallen so fast so far in such a short amount of time as Obama has. And sorry Republicans are now four points ahead of the Democrats in Congress. On a generic ballot Republicans have a eight point lead. In three quarters of governors elections this year where there is a incumbent Democrat they are behind all Republicans running against them and in over 50% of the same races the Democrats are losing by double digits area. 56% do not want the current healthcare bill passed. 69% believe that their healthcare costs will go up and quality of care for go down under the current bill. 55% say Congress should start over on healthcare reform. 57% believe this plan will hurt the economy. 78% believe there will be a middle-class tax hike to pay for healthcare.

Thanks for the plagiarism Flannigan, any thoughts of your own to share?

I find it completely baffling...
how so many people are willing to go to war over a contrived premise that a neutral country, who didn't attack us, was building WMD's with little to no real proof! It has cost us Too much in lives and money. Now you have a guy who is trying to untangle this mess that has us where we are today and people aren't interested??????????
The largest tax cut for the middle class in history was implemented by the current admin, yet people bitch and moan???
Honestly...I really think that this country, in general is dumbing down!
When you have people like Limbaugh, Beck and friends leading the right wing I have to stop and scratch my head! "I'll move to Costa Rica if health care passes!!" Well...Costa Rica already has national health care:)

Sad, demented, little left wing nut. The unparalleled Triumverate of Palin/Pawlenty/Bachman is about to shift GOP awareness into overdrive. We have a message people will listen to and a plan for America that real Americans want to follow. If you understand English and don't speak ESL than Republicans want you to stand up and fight this Muslim dictator in the name of Jesus Christ. You will find that the only people who disagree w/ what I'm saying is rabid left wing jackals.

HHH,

Giving money to people that don't pay taxes is not a tax cut, it is welfare. As for HC, there is no way in hell that any gov program will increase the number of insured without incurring huge additional costs.

The "tax cuts" your liar in chief speaks of are nothing more than a redistrubution from the productive to the ignorant and lazy slobs you libs love to champion. Total taxes will increase to pay for this dem slush fund and services will decline as evidenced by the financial disasters that are Medicaid and Medicare.

I don't think repubs would do any better running the US healthcare system but the affirmative action figure promoting this proved he is too stupid to run a community center let alone a sixth of the economy.

If you libs want to prop up welfare queens, starving "artists", sociology majors or your favorite sexually challenged group, do it with your own money. Oh, that's right, you're just following the example set by your messiah and his plagerizing sidekick, donations are for suckers, just like paying your taxes.

Not to worry. Obama has a corrective action plan.
It's called AMNESTY.
That'll make him hugely popular.
NOT!
Does this man want to kill the Democrat Party in one election cycle?
