The Swamp

In the home-stretch, the glossary is growing:

President Barack Obama's healthcare plan -- "Obamacare,'' as critics put it -- is not only "radical,'' but also "socialist.'' It's a failed attempt at "Utopia.''

So says Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, with a fundraising e-pitch to fellow Republicans near the eve of the House's expected razor-thin decision on healthcare legislation this week.

"After over a year of pushing his radical socialist health care 'reform' experiment, Barack Obama has just a few more days to wait to see his number one priority succeed,'' Steele writes in an email today, calling on all party members to "Stop Obamacare.''

"All of the media misdirection, co-opting of insurers and pharmaceutical companies, sweetheart deals for Big Labor, kowtowing to ambulance chasing trial lawyers, "Cornhusker Kickbacks" and "Louisiana Purchases," Medicare slashing and misleading budget gimmicks, campaign-style rallies, dog-and-pony "summits," and flat-out arrogant dismissal of the American peoples' disapproval can be wrapped up by this weekend,'' Steele warns of the expected imminent House passage of the plan.

"If Nancy Pelosi can successfully cajole, intimidate, and coerce her Democrat majority into approving a bill the American people are against by a 3:1 margin, Obama and the rest of the radical Democrats in Washington will see their dream of government-run, government-rationed health care come true,'' he says.

There are but "a few days to let House Democrats know that we will not stand for the Obama-Pelosi-Reid hijacking of our freedom and democracy so they can impose their socialist "utopia" of higher taxes, restricted access, inferior quality, and deadly inefficiency on the best health care system in the world.''

Republicans are scared to death of watching the Democrats pass health care reform, because they know that people will wonder why, when Republicans controlled the White House and Congress from 2001 through 2006, they did nothing about health care. It will be obvious that Republicans have no sympathy for the 20 - 35 million Americans without health insurance.

Countdown to "HHH" accusing every other poster of being one person with multiple IP addresses in 5...4...3...2...1....ding-ding-ding!
>
It's an attempt at Utopia, yes, but who knows whether or not it is a failure? Yet. It has been watered down so much that Leftists are PO'd and Insurance companies are only mildly annoyed.
>
Nobody should become bankrupt because they're sick. Nobody should have to choose between paying the light bill and paying for medical care. Most of America is on board with that. What makes a lot of folks nervous is the notion of the government in control.

Today's poll of physicians in the respected New England Journal of Medicine, backs up Steele's points:
"46.3% of primary care physicians (family medicine and internal medicine) feel that the passing of health reform will either force them out of medicine or make them want to leave medicine. 41% of physicians feel that income and practice revenue will “decline or worsen dramatically” with a public option. 72% of physicians feel that a public option would have a negative impact on physician supply, with 45% feeling it will “decline or worsen dramatically” and 27% predicting it will “decline or worsen somewhat."

It appears health care reform will pass!! The Republicans are scared to death of it. They wanted to avoid it at every cost. They have bankrupt the United States and they are out to destroy the working and middle class. They are scared to death. Just watch these hypocrites. Now druggy Limp-baugh can move to Costa Rica and enjoy their socialized healthcare.

Let it happen and November will come very quick for Democrats. Like they say if it walks like a duck and squaws like a duck then it's a duck, the same can go for this socialist program.

When every thing is said and done, President Obama and Vice-President Biden and most of the Democrats in our Congress can walk away from this engagement knowing they didn't lie, mislead, scare or intimidate their way to victory, if it turns out that way. If it doesn't, they can still face the American nation honestly and forth-rightly, no small consolation, in my eyes. A laughable mindset to most of those who did lie, mislead, intimidate or scare the more vulnerable among us, but that is their lack of conscience. It is their lack of compassion that allows them to vilify the right-minded, right-hearted politicians that were in this effort to do right by the American people, all of the American people. If they succeed in killing this reform effort, that is not all that they will have killed, there is the matter of the 40,000 American, who, due to no or insufficient healthcare, will die this year. I am sure the families of those Healthcare Insurer's victims/clients will be grateful to all of you for your lies, distortions and of course, your unquestioning patriotism. Remember. America First, citizens second !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

News flash:

This bill is to Obama as the Social Security Act was to FDR.

Generations who benefit from it will thank him, even posthumously~~~~

Can you think of any legislation signed by a Replican prez that later generations associate with him and express gratitude?

Question, those that favor the health care bill: What's in it?

Since you love it so much you should know what's in the 2700 pages, RIGHT? No you don't

The American People Versus Obamacare
And the 40 House Democrats to watch.
The New York Times writes, “For weeks, Democrats...were taking a pounding in their districts.” But now “pharmaceutical companies [have] made a $12 million investment for a final advertising push.” The Times elaborates: “The new money from Pharma, the association of drug makers, as well as contributions from labor unions and other groups [has] helped equalize the advertising fight. This week...the groups backing the legislation will focus extensively on the insurance industry with this theme: ‘When insurance companies win, you lose.’”
*
That's rich: While President Obama crisscrosses the country villainizing health insurers, Big Pharma — whose 19.3 percent profits absolutely dwarf health insurers’ profits of 2.2 percent — is bankrolling anti-insurer, pro-Obamacare ads. At the Huffington Post, Art Levine frankly explains that “giveaways to Big Pharma have put that industry in the ‘reform’ camp and willing to make ad buys.”

This is a ridiculous. The replican argument:

People won't know their congressman voted for the health bill because they voted for a Rule to pass it.

Huh????

They voted for the Senate bill, end of story.

Who would possibly think their "fingerprints" would not be detected on such a vote?

As if anybody cares at this point.

Everything has been hashed over so many times, the "debate" itself is an embarrassment.

Even folk who have insurance are conducting thought experiments into what it would be like when the rescission letter comes.....

Or denial of benefits letter or whatever.....

And they know this bill HELPS them.

Keep whistling past the graveyard, Mitch.

(Actually, if you and other Senate Replicans walked by the undertaker's, he would come out and follow you a few blocks.....)

The r-cons do not care about the citizens of America. They care and lobby only for big business interests and wars riddled with fraud, waste and corruption.
Obama promised healthcare reform and thats why he was elected.
While the bill may not be ideal, it's a beginning.

Thank you Mr. President.

Ornery,

You have it right - this will be a legacy just as Social Security is - an albatross around the financial neck of the country.

Fear and Obstructionism is getting to be a tired whine - Pass the HCR bill already.

Most Americans realize doing nothing bankrupts the country, so doing something is a start to fix things, even if its not perfect.

Health Care is a civil right clearly stated in the preamble of the Constitution requires the government to "promote the general Welfare".

The ignorance posted here is enough to make anyone with a sixth grade knowledge of the Constitution want to laugh.

Health care is a service. Doctors, nurses, etc provide it. You cannot demand that they give it to you. 46% of doctors say that they will change professions if this bill passes. What are you going to do put them in prison because they refused to give you your "right"?

Hank,

"promote the general Welfare" - The word promote does not mean "provide".

It doesn't seem to occur to anyone that the legislation that dictated that all hospitals accepting Medicare and Medicaid could not refuse care due to lack of insurance to anyone walking into the emergency rooms. That, folks, is socialism, and it's been around since the 1980's.

Drier is making his pitch once again for "Medical Savings Accounts" as the solution to the health insurance crisis....

Too funny.

"Let them eat cake" legislation from Replicans, as usual.

People don't have money to pay the rent, Dreier. You just don't get it.

Fat cats in your district may have lots of discretionary income, to decide whether to play the futures with their broker or to "tax shelter" it in some esoteric bank account.

Most Americans don't.

The United States is not a third world socialist banana republic. Whether its administration is one is a question that still has to be decided. Hopefully, it's not to late for a course change.

teri,

Please teri, shout that post from the roof-tops. Get all your pug friends to do the same. We need to unload that albatross called medicare!!!! Show those old people who is really on their side.

Plantain, the US is on the fast track to being a 3rd world country....in case you haven't noticed. I can tell you right now, in Canada, investment money is POURING into the country from around the world. A byproduct of a healthy "socialist" economy.

Horrible Form,

Can't pull Medicare out from the seniors since they paid into the Ponzi scheme for decades, but I'll bet the under 40 generation would love to see an additional 3% in their paycheck.

To the idiot that thinks that "Healthcare is a right" because the Constitution indicates Congress can "promote general welfare" is a crock of epic proportions. Please read the Constitution again you knucklehead. "Civil 'Right", LMAO
The Preamble serves solely as an introduction and does not assign powers to the federal government,[2] nor does it provide specific limitations on government action. Due to the Preamble's limited nature, no court has ever utilized it as a decisive factor in case adjudication,[3] except as regards frivolous litigation.[4]

To the constitutionalists in the crowd.....why do we even need a congress then? Let's just all go back to being white plantation owners, cause that would be the conservative thing to do. It's the same kind of knuckdragging mentality used when being a literalist while reading the bible.

When you have nothing, scream racism.

missed the point again teri. Way to play the race card though. When you have nothing to say teri, scream racism.

I think this "obamacare" is another thing the government is doing to control us americans

this is ridiculous. I am eighteen and i know this is wrong. I already pay enough for taxes for things such as social security that will not be around when i am old. How can i see it but america cannot? Healthcare is NOT a right. How can America regulate doctors pay? Ten percent tax on tanning?? what is that. Using tax money for abortions? That's against my religion. SOCIALISM. Didn't work other places, hence why we have so many foreign doctors leaving their socialist countries to work in the USA. Good job America, lets enter the national socialist party. We saw how that worked out in Germany. people have blind faith. read the bill.

These lily-white, suburban Glenn Beck clones only call Obama a "socialist" because they don't have the balls to call him a "nigger."
