The "Slaughter solution.''
It could become the most memorable catchword of the healthcare debate unfolding with expected House action -- approval, the way leaders are talking -- on Sunday.
As most know by now, this is not the nickname for what Democrats are planning to do to Republican opponents this weekend -- or what Republicans predict the voters will do with Democrats in November. It comes from the name of the chair of the House Rules Committee, Rep. Louise Slaughter (D- N.Y.), who proposed it.
Simply put, it enables the House to simply "deem'' that a Senate-passed healthcare bill of some 2,300 pages already has been passed while the House votes on the 170-or-so page package of fixes that will reconcile the House and Senate on the issue. That, in turn, will return to the Senate for approval by a 51-or-more vote majority under budget reconcilation, another procedural move that is raising howls among Republicans.
"The American people are going to hear about every payoff, every kickback and every sweetheart deal that comes out,'' House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) promised today. "And if Democrats really do use the Slaughter solution to pass this bill without voting on it, that vote in and of itself will be just as controversial as the bill...
"However this bill gets through the House or if it gets through the House, there's no way any member's going to be able to hide from the vote,'' Boehner told reporters today. "And this whole idea that you can move this bill without voting on it makes absolutely no sense to me. And, you know, if they attempt once of these gimmicks, I'm sure constitutional scholars will be all over it.''
President Barack Obama, who made his final public push for passage in the House today, maintains that he is not concerned about congressional "procedure,'' but rather the outcome of legislation which he promises will be historic.
"You've got a good package, in terms of substance. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about what the procedural rules are in the House or the Senate,'' Obama said in an interview with FOX News Channel this week. "The issue that I'm concerned about is whether not we're fixing a broken system. The key is to make sure that we vote -- we have a vote on whether or not we're going to maintain the status quo, or whether we're going to reform the system.
""Whatever they end up voting on... it is going to be a vote for or against my health care proposal. That's what matters. That's what ultimately people are going to judge this on... Somebody who votes for this bill, they're going to be judged at the polls. And the same is going to be true if they vote against it."
Which, after all, is what Boehner is saying, too.

Yes, the Democrats must resort to hood-winking, Chicago-style gimmicks to try to get this unpopular legislation through the Congress. With 57% of the American citizens AGAINST the bill, more American citizens disapprove of Obama than approve, the Democrats are ignoring their constituents to pass this monster. That could explain why the Democrat leadership sent a secret memo to the Democrats, telling them what to say and not say about the bill. It provides explicit talking points and, more importantly, thing to NOT discuss. The memo tells the Democrats to NOT mention the additional $371 billion fix they intend to introduce after the weasel the bill through Congress.
"“Most health staff are already aware that our health proposal does not contain a 'doc fix.' … The inclusion of a full SGR repeal would undermine reform’s budget neutrality. So again, do not allow yourself (or your boss) to get into a discussion of the details of CBO scores and textual narrative. Instead, focus only on the deficit reduction and number of Americans covered,” the memo, sent Thursday to Democratic staff, said.
“As most health staff knows, leadership and the White House are working with the AMA to rally physicians for a full SGR repeal later this spring. However, both health and communications staff should understand we do not want that policy discussion discussed at this time, lest (it) complicate the last critical push to pass health reform,” according to the memo."
The memo also repeatedly advises Democrats not to discuss the details of the CBO score.
“We cannot emphasize this enough: do not allow yourself (or your boss) to get into a discussion of the details of CBO scores and textual narrative. Instead, focus only on the deficit reduction and number of Americans covered," the memo says."
The Democrats method of "deeming it passed" will eventually be determined to be unconstitutional, as well.
Face it, the majority of American citizens DO NOT want the Obama-care bill, but your Democrats want to shove it through, after all, they do know the American citizens are too stupid to take care of themselves! Yes, Chicago-style politics is alive and well in D.C.

Obama is not a part of the legislative branch so it isn't his worry.
And secondly, why don't you show the class exactly where in the Constitution it says that the president should make himself the head of both the legislative and the excutive branch?

The Right Wing Noise Machine (Faux News, AM Hate Radio etc) has falsely accused Democrats of hypocrisy (again) for considering the use of a legislative procedure known as a self-executing rule to finalize health care reform in the House. They have falsely claimed Democrats criticized Republicans' use of a self-executing rule in 2006. In fact, those Democrats did not criticize the 2006 bill because it was passed using that process, but rather because the version of the bill passed by the House differed substantively from the version signed by President Bush.

Poll: GOP Opposition Makes People More Likely To Support Health Care Reform
This is hilarious: according the most recent survey from the non-partisan Kaiser Health Foundation, Republican opposition to health care reform is backfiring -- instead of driving down support for reform, GOP obstruction is actually encouraging more people to support the bill than to oppose it.
Check out the numbers:
QUESTION: Does the fact that every Republican Member of Congress opposes the current health care proposals make you more likely to support the legislation, less likely, or doesn’t that make much difference either way?
-More likely to support legislation: 27%
-Less likely to support legislation: 20%
-No difference: 51%
To be fair and balanced, most people don't give a damn what the GOP is saying, but of those who do, the GOP's opposition is giving reform a slight boost. Meanwhile, President Obama's support for the proposal is making people more likely to support the legislation.

If you want to see pur bribery, look at the story of California Democrats, Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa and the blackmail that was used to get their votes.
Give us Yes votes and we will let the water flow to the San Joaquin Valley (their districts) again. The federal gov't has shut the water off for some two-inch fish and caused unemployment in the region over 20%, but will open the valves for the a couple of votes.

WHY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE THE DUMBEST PEOPLE ON EARTH?
Those of you who have written these nasty comments regarding the bill, regarding the president, even if you disagree with him in principle which is not the case because your fury has nothing to do with principles, but with your so-called leaders’ opinion of course your so-called leaders’ opinion is not theirs, but the opinions of those who have bought them. You are the parrots, the echoes of your nation; you are not voices, but echoes. Basically you don’t exist, you are shadows, you just reflect, project and that makes you worst among a dumb people. Don’t take me wrong when I say you are dumb, I’m referring to a lack of schooling, but to a great lacking in critical thinking and analytical skills.
The American people are dumb for being echoes to those who have a stake to gain in the fight toward healthcare reform, dumb for voting for spineless men and women more concern with their own personal survival than the survival of the millions who are losing everything including the very roof over their heads due to an illness, dumb for following dumb leaders. But also mean-spirited for not wanting their neighbours to have the peace of mind if they were to fall ill, mean-spirited for vilifying anyone who wants to do something about it. The American people of my youth were dumb, but not mean-spirited, in fact they were kind-hearted even when they grew up in the heart of bigotry; kind heated enough to go to the little island where I was born to provide the very basic care that they have denied, and continue to deny their own people.
It should be very clear to the American people if the insurance companies are willing to spend hundreds of million dollars to defeat the bill, they are doing it for profit and not because they want to protect them. Then again, we are talking about the dumbest people on earth, we are talking about a people who are afraid to think, and we are talking about a people who let hot heads do all the thinking for them.
I give president Obama lots of credit for fighting for something that he deeply believes in, that’s what separates the leaders from the opportunists, and the congress and senate of the United States are full of opportunists who are followed as leaders. Opportunists like congressmen who voting against their conscience in order to remain in congress; republicans or democrats, they’re not just opportunistic but spineless. Opportunists like Sarah Palin who left an office she was voted in to serve to take advantage of the tide to make money, it’s not about doing good for the American people, it’s not about any of the things they are selling to the gullible American people, but their own bottom line, the stuffing of their own pockets, and fortunately for them the American people are too dumb to figure it out. The American people overall is a dumb, hillbilly people who believes in their own insanity “ we have the best health care system in the whole world” what is a beautiful home if it is toxic and is killing its residents? The knowledge is there, the potential is there, but it’s an illusion to be saying to the world that we have the best health care system in the world.
A Christian nations, where is the compassion for the destitute? Well, I guess I’m wrong to ask that because to these people Christianity was never about doing good to your neighbours, to your fellow human kind, but rather using them to achieve your own success, using them to build your own future.
Those who will say “let’s keep the government out of our lives” I will say to them it was the government that abolished slavery, it was the government that made it the law of the land to stop discriminating against a group because of their race or social status, it was the government that enacted laws to protect the right of women and children, and it will be once again the act of responsible government that will stop discrimination against the less fortunate in this great health care debate. It was never the act of private citizen or the church that protected the rights of citizens, but responsible government. Last but not least, let’s not forget the declaration of independence “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”. What rights? Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The American people will stop being the dumbest people of the world when they vote people into the high offices of the land to represent them and not the fortune five hundred companies on Wall Street, the American people will stop being the dumbest people on earth when they stop being parrots; parrot hears, parrot repeats but of course parrot doesn’t understand.
Your leaders reflect you, for they were chosen by you. People of the united states of America, you look dumb when putting people in office who are afraid to make the right decisions because it doesn’t align with the party, with the interest of the fortune five hundred companies, and when election time comes, you elect them into office once again. That’s indeed dumb!

Paul- "opinions" Problem here is Obama's "opinions" are becoming 'Policy' which effects us ALL. Personal opinions don't effect any one but ones self.
