A $100 bill saved is a $100 bill earned.
But every bill is ready for a makeover once in a while.
Benjamin Franklin hasn't lost his seat on the C-note. But, in the age of higher-tech currency, a disappearing Liberty Bell in an inkwell and a bright blue security ribbon of thousands of tiny lenses that magnify objects in mysterious ways have joined him. This bill is a show in itself, with images moving as the note moves.
You will have until Feb. 10 to spend your existing pile of 100's -- though they will still work. That's when the new $100 bill, the last of the nation's paper currency in general circulation to undergo an overhaul, will make its debut.
"We estimate that as many as two-thirds of all $100 notes circulate outside the United States," says Federal Reserve Chairman BenBernanke, whonotes that the $6.5 billion in $100 bills already in circulation will remain legal tender.
The changes are aimed at thwarting counterfeiters -- the $100 bill being the most frequent target of counterfeiters operating outside of the United States. The $20 bill is the choice target at home. It, too, has been redesigned.
All but the dollar bill have been remodeled.
Apparently counterfeiters don't spend much time on the buck.
The Associated Press contributed to this report, really.

As long as we do not see Ronald Reagan on any type of U.S. currency. The most overrated President in American history. A fraud and a failure. Mr. Iran Contra, the king of deficit spending. Increased taxes on American people seven different times. Responsible for 250 U.S. Marines being blown to pieces in Beirut Lebanon when he ordered them into a warzone unarmed. Reagan was a fraud and Reaganomics was a failure.

It must have been inspired by the Madoffs and Weasels of Wall Street!! It looks like funny money, monopoly money. Now, those Morons on Madison Ave. will be back, playing fast and loose with our monopoly money. Especially, now that they received their assurances, from the Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers, that they will be doing their usual obstructing, to prevent and to stop Financial Reform. What a bunch of Americans !!

Give BO and his expanding federal debt and that $100 will be worth $50 in a blink of an eye.

That rather classical portrait of Ben looks, ah, somewhat incongruous, off center and surrounded by all the holograms and embedded anti-counterfeit bells and whistles.
It was more appropriate to the equally classical symmetry of the original....
In fact, Ben looks a little chagrined or uncomfortable there.....
Maybe he IS afraid he's about to be pushed off the face of that bill altogether.
Which, if it were only for the sake of change, might be bearable, but for REAGAN???
That's why he looks so uneasy.....

The bill is nice too bad that by the time Barry gets booted it will be worth a fraction of what it once was.

" Doug R ", it is refreshing to hear someone speak " truth to fraud ". Ronnie Raygun's role as our President, was not only badly scripted, with jingoisms and slogans, it was propped up, on deceit and lies. As for his most infamous role, the Great Appeaser, history will not look upon his actions, or non-actions, admirably or as believable. Between him and Nixon, they had a cadre of goons, the likes of which, our White House hasn't seen in many, many years. The two of them should be chartered members of the Presidential Hall of Shame, with one or two more in mind !! They disgraced the Office they held and they disappointed an entire nation, not to mention the aberration of a Party they left in their wake !!
