Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday again called for an independent investigation into the White House actions in trying to protect incumbent senators facing tough Democratic primaries.

In a letter to Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr., the Republicans argue that recent reports of the White House's role in primaries in Pennsylvania and Colorado "have created new suspicion and a new set of questions. We do not believe this suspicion or these questions will diminish until a proper investigation clears the air and restores the public's confidence."

The letter was signed by Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the committee's ranking member, and six other Republicans.

The White House has acknowledged that it asked former President Clinton to approach Rep. Joe Sestak to discuss an unpaid job with the administration if he decided to remain in his House seat. Sestak, who says he cut off discussion about any job offer, went on to beat Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary.

More Fake Outrage From The Right Wing Noise Machine...

I'm Shocked!.....not

What a freaking joke.

The Republican party still owes the tax payers millions of dollars from when they wasted it on their Whitewater witch hunt during the Clinton years.

Give'em time people, and todays fringe version of the Republican party will be calling for impeachment hearing for Bo the first Dog. They're not a serious political party anymore.

I guess the rest of the country is already sick and tired of the change they voted for, I doubt they realized they were voting for more corruption and lies, but that is surely what they got. It'd be great fun to watch obama get impeached, in fact,
it'd be HISTORIC! Just like the obama oil spill - incompetency at it's finest.

Hypocritical Republiklans will whine about anything and everything anytime we have a Dem Pres (see Clinton, Bill) and yet they got all red faced with anger when it was pointed out to them that their heroes (Bush Jr and The Dick Cheney) actually should have been impeached for war crimes while they were busy trashing this country.

Here's a tip for ya, Wingnuts....FOX NEWS ALERT!

I've got something damaging to tell you about the Obama adminstration.

OK, here's the scoop! Obama paid for a hamburger last month with a $20 dollar bill! He didn't use any change and he didn't accept any change back. How can this man be about CHANGE? Please tell Faux News, Limbaugh and Sarah Plain about this ASAP!

We need to bring this President down yo! I also heard via a 3rd party that when Obama was asked "Can the Govt start another war by telling a huge lie?", Obama stated "NO, WE CAN'T!"

Ruh Roh! GOT HIM! He doesn't even believe in his own slogan!

Take this info and run with it, Wingers!

Tell Rush, Tell Crazy Glenn! Hurry! Stat! Fox News Red Alert!

The double standard of the brain-dead liberals and their comrades in the media is hilarious.

Presidential Scholars See Recent White House Job Offers As Nothing New

"This kind of jockeying happens all the time in politics,” said David Greenberg, a professor of history, journalism and media studies at Rutgers University. “Politicians are always trying to get people in and out of races, and they will use offers, inducements and even threats to do that.”

This non-story just goes to show that todays Republican party is more interested in playing stupid political games than they are in making policy that actually helps working people.

Goldman: Give the Money Back

The Young Turks protest Goldman Sachs taking 13 billion dollars in unnecessary bailout funds and ask Geithner at the Federal Reserve to get it back.

The party of family values is once again on crusade to restore honor and integrity in government. Ensign, of parental hush money fame, Vetter of whoremongering fame, Foley of child molestation fame, Craig of wide stance fame, and the holy Joe brigade at the C Street cat house who held the raunchiest prayer meetings since Caliglua, are wanting Holder to investigate political chicanery. These clowns could make a buzzard puke up a road kill special. They make border line hoodlems like Emmanuel et.al. almost look good.

Can you name one bill that was passed by Democrats that has helped the working class.

Hey Wingnuts!

We'll get right on this non issue of yours....just as soon as we get the Bush-Cheney-Rove-Rumsfeld war crimes trials out of the way first.

Republicans hate blue collar workers,
Planet Wingnuttia,
former Republican,
Stanley Cup Champion Chi-Town Hawks,
And all your other postnames,
.
Yes, Chicago style corruption in the White House is a scandal for the average American. Good luck pretending it isn't.
.
And "The Republicans are corrupt too" doesn't go over very well with the average American when Obama promised a supposed "new politics".
.
Oh yeah, and "[Fill in the Blank] is Bush's fault" isn't selling anymore.
.
Sorry, troll boy.

With all the freakin' problems in this country, the GOP can only try and create fictional problems. Do they REALLY want to open this can of worms?

Serioulsy, why can't we get along and help each other? Ya'll sound like a pack of high school girls/boys. I prefer to watch the HS kids on FNL.

I have voted for both parties in the past but I think it's time to go back to the Repubs again.

I can't afford Obama and I fear for the future.

Like the "little black dress", Bush bashing will always be in fashion.

After all, W (short for "worst president ever") presided over probably the most disastrous presidency ever.

Starting with "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside U.S." August 2001, while he was getting sloshed on the veranda of the ranch down there in Crawford.

Ending with a Crash unheard since 1929, wiping out 40 % or so of American assets.

Are you missing him yet?

Yes, he's "content to let the historians sort it out". He's hoping, however, that the definitive book on his disastrous term won't be written for another 50 years or so.

Bill Moyers has a nifty successor on PBS.

Called "Need to Know". Needs better graphics, better music. Someone on Daily Kos can perhaps help them punch it up a bit...

Tonight, perchance, you can view a clinical dissection of BP 's history in US accidents that would make Ida Tarbell proud.

It's a joy for me to look into the ant farm that is the Repl. party these days, from time to time.

Like those ant farms behind glass they used to have in primary school.

It would come with better grace if the Bushs would just shut up and retire to the ranch in Honduras or whereever it is.

But they just won't go away. They keep intruding, or trying to intrude, themselves into the present moment.

So, Bush bashing must proceed apace.

Should the Obama administration have "purged" the MMS sub agency on Jan 21. 2009?

Probably. But there were a few other more pressing concerns.

Like trying to forestall another Great Depression.

Obama on Jan 20 09, was confronted with a federal government that was a "Bluebeard's Castle", full of strange rooms filled with various corpses, evidences of crimes and coverups, etc.

Mineral Management Services was one, of course.

But the SEC was another.

And on and on.

I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if a nuclear reactor had a problem linked to lax oversight.

Or large quantities of new $100 bills are repeatedly found to have disappeared without a trace in Iraq...

Etc.

I argued in 2007 for a Truth Commission, but I guess the malfeasance of the Bush administration really could not be confined to one Commission, one set of hearings.

Like the 1920's. The disaster was apparent by 1930. Roosevelt was elected to the first of four (4) terms two years later. There was a Pecora Commission, but it was so obvious the Republicans had screwed up that they were shut out of the White House for 20 years. And control of the House for for about 60.

So, perhaps BP/Halliburton is a blessing in disguise

Let the hearings go on, and on. Let the corporate structures of BP and Halliburton be spread of record. Let the misrepresentations they made to get their permits and waivers be probed by Congressional committees and grand juries.

Just one little suggestion: Extend the federal criminal statute of limitations beyond 5 years.

It will take a lot longer than 5 years to indict all those responsible for the 2008 Crash, for the Gulf Disaster.

ornery,
you get credit for actually writing your own post, and it does makes one good point (bails of cash disappearing in Iraq sums up the Gulf war mess neatly).
.
Other than that, unfortunately most of your post just repeats the same simplistic cant as HHH Trollboy's copy&paste jobs.
.
No, a single administration and a single party--in 8 short years--did not put us where we are today, and the Democrats can't solve our problems because they are PART of our problems. And recent polling tends to show that the electors get that.
.
Nice try, though.

Where was Senator Sessions doggedness on investigating, when it came to the Bush administration"s Department of Interior? Why wasn't he clamoring for an investigation into which Oil Corps were corrupting a regulatory agency with parties, drugs and women? Who knows, if he had been serious about all supposed corruption and called for an investigation into Bush's MMS, of the Department of Interior, we may have been able to head off the worst environmental disaster in American history. No, the Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers were too busy giving the filthy rich, tax cuts, the slick Oil Corps, tax breaks and handing the tax payer, the bill. Thanks, Bush&Cheney, we needed that !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Someone call the Waambulance!.....the Wingnuts have a bad case of fake outrage...again.

The Rethuglican party needs to give up on their fake Dem presidential scandal meme everytime they're in the minority. No one is buying their made up crap anymore.

The Rethug party should stick to doing what they do best: hating gays, telling women to stay in the kitchen, having bizarre hangups about sex, not believing in evolution, thinking education is for chumps, thinking religion should be inserted into government, fetishizing guns, and being quick to call for violence to solve their problems.

Probe these democRAT idiots! They now take their orders from the new Commander-in- Al Capone-Chief.
Obama-gate will make Water Gate look like foot note in history .
Keep the pressure up! Impeach this bowing to our enemies idiot!

Paulo

JS,

That's what they call damning with faint praise.

I'm still not missing W.

On "dangling jobs", let's not forget Alberto Gonzo,

firing and hiring US Attorneys according to whether they were willing to prosecute "enemies" or lay off "friends".....

What happened to that investigation?

Someone offered Sestak a non-compensated slot on some Presidential advisory board?

That doesn't come close to Bush trying to run the Justice Dept. as a political hit squad.

Keep up the good work, make them accountable, do not give up the fight. Everyone knows if the situation was reversed the Dems would beat it to death.

ornery,
you're missing the point. I'm not missing W either. What have the democrats done for you lately? I mean since the New Deal? NAFTA?
