After a half-hour private meeting with President Obama this morning, Afghanistan war commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal climbed into a car and left the White House compound -- about an hour before he was scheduled to attend a situation room summit of the president's war team. McChrystal had been summoned to the White House to answer for controversial comments attributed to him and his staff about their superiors in a recent Rolling Stone magazine article.
There was no immediate word on McChrystal's fate. But he had been scheduled to attend the national security meeting on Afghanistan and his exit from the White House was a potential signal that he had been relieved of duty by Obama.
A statement by Obama is expected shortly.
McChrystal met earlier in the day with Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and Adm. Michael G. Mullen, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

For a lot of people that have not served in the military (mostly liberals) they will never understand how the government is viewed from the troops point of view. Chatting and e-mailing with friends still in the military I believe what was said in the story itself by most members of the armed services about this administration. Let's face it this administration is not well-liked by our service personnel. And the same personnel laid the blame at Obama's feet for the restorative engagement rules now in place in Afghanistan. Yes they blame him for the increased body count.
