As we continue our in-depth coverage of politicians weighing in on LeBron James, we note how the fate of the NBA superstar has temporarily brought together a Democrat and a Republican in one of the hottest Senate races in the country.
ESPN reported this morning that James is leaning toward signing the Miami Heat. Hours later, Republican candidate Marco Rubio tried egging him on, tweeting: "@kingjames(aka Lebron)come to Florida!"
Soon after Kendrick Meek, the leading Democratic candidate in the Senate race retweeted Rubio's plea, adding: "Shocking! We agree." Rubio then retweeted his rival's sentiment.
We won't get definitive word on James' decision until his primetime special on ESPN tonight. But if their reporting is correct, Rubio's and Meek's gain will be President Obama's loss. He had hoped, the White House said, that King James would join his hometown Chicago Bulls.
But James has already pitched in on Obama's behalf before. His one recorded political donation, according to OpenSecrets.org, is a $20,000 contribution to the Democratic National Committee, made in June of 2008 in support of the then-Illinois senator's campaign.

Comments
I doubt that Lebron will be impressed with Rubio's offer of a lifetime supply of Teabags.

Is Lebron James really that important that 2 artciles in this political section are needed?
We are on day 5 of still no article in the Trib regarding controversial NASA comments about making the muslims feel better about themselves as one of the new Obama directives for NASA.
But I guess Lebron just scratched his butt, better get something going on that...

Conservative Master,
No article about BO's recess appointment to oversee Medicare and Medicaid, Donald Berwick.
His quote, "Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional" I wonder if he will take a salary of $50K and the rest of his salary "redistributed"?

As for LeBron, he would save a couple of million a year in state income taxes if he chooses Miami over New York.

Cleveland never won a championship WITH LeWho. What is the downside now of not having LeWho? LeWho hurt Cleveland by not announcing he was leaving nine days ago. That was big of him. Cleveland could have signed another free agent sooner if LeWho did not need to feed his ego with the suspense. Again, Cleveland NEVER won a championship WITH LeWho. When LeWho hurt himself at the end of this last season--he acted like a baby--couldn't play through the pain. That kind of player isn't worth so many millions. Boring. Yawn. LeWho.

Check out the Cavs' website. Owner trashes Lebron.

Terri,
Stop your whining about recess appointments, all Presidents make them.
Did you have any issues when boy George Bush was making all of his??

Yea, John Stewart is someone we should all pay attention to. NOT!!!
Only a dummiecrat would use quotes from someone on the comedy channel because it reminds them so much of their politiocs.

If Swamp writers think it newsworthy that Obama tried to get Lebron to Chicago, shouldn't they also write the followup article showing how, once again (see Olympics, Chicago, 2016) Obama flopped?

Tinkled On Terry - here's a nice, LONG list of the FORTY SIX recess appointments Dubya made during his 8 years in office. Can you post links to any of your Swamp postings complaining about any of them?

I like Terry's new name.
Time to let the wingnut go
out to pasture with HHH.
Terry's point to BC that "it" (since it's sometimes male or a female posting) does not get. BO's recess appointment was not reported here. This is a political forum. No artcile on that, strange NASA outreach to the muslim world and the Black Panther controversy. That's why most people and Jon Stewart watch Fox news. To get the news that others refuse to broadcast. Dissenting points of view
contrary to the liberal news media ownership are not allowed on some TV networks or news media outlets like here at the Trib.
That's why you see more personalities moving to Fox and becoming a success.
Becuase that's what happens when you actually have a viewership.

Ever hear the old phrase "I don't mind what you did. I mind the way you did it."?
That's how I feel about this LeBron thing.
He has the right to be a free agent. And even star players change from team to team nowadays. Who thought Brett Favre would ever play for the Vikings?
But I've ever seen anything so egotistical and narcissistic in my life.
But I don't even put that ALL on LeBron. The sports media created this beast when ESPN started broadcasting his high school games. How can a person have any real perspective when they've been told they are the greatest their whole life.
The ones I really feel sorry for are the 8th graders who are being fawned over by agents and college and pro-scouts right now. If just one of every thousand of them make the NBA (let alone become a star) it would be a miracle. And after being built up as the next great thing, they'll be tossed to the street if they get an injury, or their bodies don't quite grow into their abilities, and by the time they're seniors in high school, with no real prospects, they'll be dumped like yesterdays garbage.
But, congratulations America, the greed of capitalism, and the "American" way of life that the chase for ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR is all that matters is what you asked for.

As for LeBron - he chose the state with no income tax - saved a couple a million per year.
Doogie and Before CommonSense,
I'm not whining about BO's ability to make recess appointments. I'm complaining who was appointed.
Plainfield,,
Most libs get their news from Comedy Central and they can't see the problem. They think the boys from South Park are the panel guest commentators
