Two sitting members of the House of Representatives -- one Republican, one Democrat -- each have released new television ads for their Senate campaigns in the past 24 hours with a common message: Congress cannot be trusted with our money.
The ads from Indiana Democrat Brad Ellsworth and Missouri Republican Roy Blunt are only the latest example of elected officials in Washington walking a fine line as they seek new terms there.
"They waste our money. They take care of special interests. And they don't care of lobbyists write our laws, or if our jobs get shipped overseas," Ellsworth says in his ad, referring to members of the same body he serves in.
"Irresponsible spending and crippling debt are killing jobs today and our children's future tomorrow," Blunt says in his ad as an image of the U.S. Capitol appears on screen.
Both candidates also decline to mention their service in Washington. Ellsworth, a two-term Congressman, identifies himself as a sheriff of 25 years. Blunt, first elected in 1996 and once a part of the House GOP leadership, says he was a high school teacher and university president.
Currently 11 sitting members of the House, including Ellsworth and Blunt, are running for election to the U.S. Senate. A half dozen sitting members of the House or Senate are running for governor, or already lost in gubernatorial primaries.

This falls election ads will be great:

Nuts,
I don't think that those little videos will stand up against the picture of an oil soaked bird offset by a picture of BO golfing. THe BO administration is inept. In April, 2009, the DC appeals court found that the gov't was unprepared for a major oil spill. What did BO do - play more golf of course.
Also, a picture of an unemployment line in 2010 as compared to the unemployment statistic of 5% from Jan, 2007 when the dems took over Congress.
