Former President George W. Bush greets Texas Rangers president Nolan Ryan at Wednesday night's game against the New York Yankees.
by Mike Memoli
Our friends at Top of the Ticket noted former President George W. Bush's surprise appearance at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Wednesday to welcome home American service men and women.
Well Bush also turned up at last night's Yankees-Rangers game at the Ballpark at Arlington, chatting throughout the game with Hall of Famer, current Rangers president and former Rangers pitcher Nolan Ryan.
The nationally-telecast game frequently included shots of the former president and his wife, Laura. And Bush, himself a former Rangers owner, seemed to be enjoying most of the game as his team took a 6-1 lead on the defending World Champions.
That would prove short lived, however, as the Yankees rallied in the late innings, forcing ace Cliff Lee out in the 7th and later resulting in a blown save for Neftali Feliz.
The Yanks and Rangers may just meet again in October during the playoffs, with both teams currently leading their divisions. You'd have to think we'll see Bush throw a ceremonial first pitch, but then again that may be too high-profile an appearance on the eve of November elections.
And, considering how Democrats have made the former president the centerpiece for their new midterm strategy, could we soon hear complaints that he was a drag on the Rangers? (full disclosure: author is a Yankees fan).

I want Bush&Cheney to be my investment broker. Heck, he plunks down $100,000, of borrowed money, no doubt from The Silverado S&L scam, and invests it in The Texas Rangers. 5-10 years later, he divests himself of his shares of the Texas Rangers, to the tune of $14 Million. Now, that is what I call some real political, I mean, financial savvy!! What a guy, that Bush&Cheney is !! Bring 'em on!!

And, once again, Donny FitzLoony shows he has has no understanding of economics.
Anyway, Donny, were you concerned about Hillary's $1,000 investment in cattle futures that turned into a $100,000 profit?

The Rangers needs to ban war criminal Shrub Jr from attending anymore of their games, otherwise his bad karma will rub off on them and they'll start losing games on a regular basis and miss the playoffs.

Don, I am more concerned about the 1 trillion dollar stimulus that has worked opposite of what Obama & the Democrook congress promised. The largest single theft of taxpayer money or any other kind in human history. You can keep blaming Bush for this country's ills but the guy in charge is the one more people are looking at these days. We got CHANGE alright, change for the worse.

For the 8 years he was in the Oval Office, not once did Shrub greet troops returning from the Middle East - especially the dead ones. Only now can he find the time to care about the people he sent off to fight an unnecessary war started by his lies.

Laura Bush must hate having to sit there for so long without having a cigarette.
(She's a chain smoker in private)

dc is a lying piece of sh*t and james should tell us how he knows about Laura's nicotine addiction.
Obama has NEVER greeted homecoming soldiers and GWB has done it on multiple occasions. So much for lying socialist sh*theads....

As usual, BrainCramped is as clueless as ever.
Earth to BrainCramped, Bush greeted countless troops. He also made countless visits to military hospitals to visit with injured troops. He just never brought the press gaggle with like Obimbo would.
Here is more proof to the truth for BrainCramped to ignore:

BC, wipe the foam from the corners of your mouth.
Bush commemorated Memorial Day every year at Arlington, visited Walter Reed Hospital several times, visited the troops IN Iraq several times, commemorated Veteran's Day, Pearl Harbor Day, D-Day, V-J Day, Thanked the troops on Independence Day, dedicated Nation Days of Prayer for the troops, for Peace and on and on.
On the other hand, Obowdown defends terrorists that murder our troops here in Fort Hood. INSTEAD of showing concern for OUR TROOPS that were murdered and wounded, this clown defends the shooter.
(Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama urged Americans on Friday not to jump to conclusions on the motive behind the mass shooting at the sprawling Fort Hood army base in Texas.
http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/politics/A-Disconnected-President.html
After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

I was just commenting on, what a shrewd investment broker, he must be. Heck, Cheney&Bush got everything else, wrong, I was surprised he got that right!! Oh, well, even a blind pig will find an acorn, from time to time!! I only bring it up, to remind our voters what a seasoned and intelligent group, the Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers are, to have voted him into Office, twice. He did such wonders for our Investment and Financial sectors!! Need I say more: " MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! "

Geographically Stupid Little Johnnie D, "the Joseph Stalin of Streamwood", you link to a Houston Chronicle story of Shrub visiting troops in a hospital - not greeting them when they returned home at an Air Force base. Ditto for the Washington Post story. Don't you have any links to stories of Bush greeting the bodies of dead soldiers being returned to America? No? Why not? Probably because Shrub NEVER GREETED ANY!

Free to Regurgitate Faux News Talking Points: observing holidays that commemorate those that served in wars, days of wartime significance in America's history, or flying to the Middle East military bases to pose for staged photo ops have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the point that I made. Neither does your useless, going off-tangent about the military shooter down in Texas. So, President Obama said "let's not jump to conclusions regarding the motives of the shooter until we have an investigation and have all the facts". Well, of course, YOUR KIND doesn't want thoughtful, rational actions in situations like these - you want "cowboy diplomacy" that shoots first and asks questions later. Instead, President Obama gave his concerns at the memorial ceremony a few days later:

Tell us, where are all of the WMDs that Bush invaded Iraq to get? Getting our hands on them to take them away from Hussein was the Number One reason Shrub wanted to go to war against Iraq - so where are they?

The nation knew within hours what the idiot in chief couldn't bring himself to address even days later. You might want to read the article you link to first. The lying scumbag still can't address the large percentage of islamists that would wipe this country off the map if they could.
I sure those dead soldiers really appreciated the "greeting" they received from our narcissist in chief certainly more than some of the living relatives did.
Visiting soldiers in hospital or in the field has a positive impact, greeting dead soldiers is purely a photo op. Bozo sought out mentors and friends who spit on soldiers returning to this country, if you believe he gives a crap about soldiers, you are as deluded as the remaining few who still support this idiot.
Hey Barry, how many more did you kill this week?

PFUTZ,
Silverado S & L was by Presideny Bush's brother, Neil.
So how does University of Chicago's ROI hiring of Michelle for amd in return get a grant from the Feds thanks to then Senator Obama compare to Neil Bush?

Before CommonSense,
"For the 8 years he was in the Oval Office, not once did Shrub greet troops returning from the Middle East "
You must have a bad memory and not recalling when President Bush landed on the aircrafty carrier just off the coast of California to greet troops returning home for Iraq for their Mission Accomplished.

Hans, my son was there at Fort Hood. He knew the Major, everybody knew this guy. He also knew some of those killed. The army failed to protect those soldiers because of political correctness.
Obama has shown several times what he cares about. He thinks the police are stupid; that we couldn't possibly be attacked by Muslim terrorists while he is president.
Then he used the attack to urge democrats to vote for healthcare.

BC, I want these clowns to drop the PC BS and learn to connect the dots. Stop the candy @ss hand wringing about whether "we" are jumping to conclusions and actually do their job of protecting Americans from Muslim extremists. Major Hasan had many, many red flags including emails to the very same Muslim cleric that the Underwear bomber was in touch with.
But lets not "jump" to conclusions and actually stop terrorists before they kill innocent people. Let's play the PC game in order not to offend anyone.

"Ferry ", if you weren't so blinded by your ideology, you would find out that with the Silverado S&L scam, it was a " family affair, a family affair!!" As Sly and the Family Stone would sing, ten years prior to the Bushies scheme. What foresight!!

PFUTZ,
If you want to show me an unbiased source that Silverado was a family affair, I'll be happy to take a look.
BTWE, are you ever going to man-up and just say what's on your mind instead of "Ferry"
