Democrats are putting cash behind their anti-Bush message, taking to the airwaves today with an ad that frames the election as one of "big choices."
Timed to coincide with the end of its summer meeting in St. Louis, the Democrat National Committee is launching a new television ad that "amplifies the choice voters are going to face this fall," a senior party spokesman said.
That choice should sound familiar if you've been listening to the president during his campaign swing earlier this week, one between "Democrats who have pulled the country out of the ditch and Bush Republican era policies which put us there."
The spot, which will air on national cable, features a familiar clip of former President Bush saying, "you can't get fooled again."
At today's DNC meeting Vice President Joe Biden, largely absent from the public arena in recent weeks as he vacationed on Long Island, will address the party faithful and likely echo this message as well.

More bad news on the Obama/Dem economy yesterday, with the announcement that new unemployment claims rose to a nine-month high of 500,000. The media, as usual, labeled this bad news "unexpected".
And remember how Obama promised that the "stimulus" would keep unemployment from rising above 8%?????
Left-wing economic policies don't work. Surprise, surprise....

Unless your a millinoaire or billionaire, the republicans could care less about you. They are out to ruin the working and middle class American worker. This goes back to Ronald Reagan and his union busting binges, and has continued with Bush #41 and Bush #43. The republicans have no plans. Millions of jobs have been outsourced and will not be coming back ever.
We are in the economic mess largely because of republican policies which favor the rich and wealthy and large corporations.

Yes, jobless numbers have been going up and up and up during this "Summer of Recovery," and yet despite weeks of rising unemployment the media always does label it "unexpected."
In 2005, Barney Frank said the housing market was strong and there was no bubble. In 2008, Barney said that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were sound, one month before their collapse.
It is the Democrats and their housing philosophies that drove this country into the ditch. And now it the Democrats under Obimbo who are are driving us off the cliff.
Yes, the American people WILL NOT be fooled again (well, the smarter, nonDemocratic ones, that is).

President Obama would have been able to share in the rewards of his predictions, had the obstructionist Republicans, in our Senate, cooperated and given him the stimulus package that he asked for, to stem the Bush's kill-off of jobs. America would have ben grateful to both Parties for their cooperation. No, the obstructionists wanted the economy to get worse, so they could fool the voters into thinking, it was our new President, President Obama, who crashed our economy. While at the exact moment he was taking his oath of Office, to our Presidency, in January of 2009, nearly 800,000 jobs were killed by the Bush&Cheney's lack of a sensible economic policy. There is a very definite paper trail, any reasonable voter can follow and see of what, I type. Given that fact, the Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers want to lie, distort, confuse and lie some more, hoping their Party of No will not be continually blamed for the mess we are slowly getting out of, thanks to the efforts of President Obama, Vice-President Biden, Speaker Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid. America doesn't need another Bush-whacking!!

How about we ask Jimmy Carter, Larry Summers, the Clintons, Rahm Emmanuel if people can be fooled again, and again, and again.
The media has failed the American people by covering up lies of this administration and candidate Obama.
By the way, is Gitmo closed? Are we out of Afghanistan? What's the unemployment number? It's 9.5% and holding. You got free healthcare? I believe a VAT tax would be a tax on everyone, not just those the make over $250,000. Obama is a Marxist that loves socialism, but really would like total government control. How's that website coming for posting bills 5 days before they are signed?
Is there ANY transparency? No, not unless Fox news exposes it. The rest of the media is like a big stupid lapdog for Obama.

I can see from all the Posts from those on the Left and those on the Right blaming each other for all the country's ills that "Silly Season" has officially begun. But the Democrats and Republicans and their staunch supporters on these Posts do have something in common. Both blame the other side, and neither the Democrats or Republicans have a concrete plan to get the country out of this financial mess. With leadership like this no wonder the country is in trouble. I forgot the third thing they have in common. Let the blame game and name calling begin!

I actually would support a VAT tax . . .to replace the income tax system and get rid of 3/4 of the IRS. But that is not what BO et al. want. They want it in addition to all the other taxes we pay. They don't have the courage to propose it and take political responsibility for it; they will hide behind the debt commission. The debt commission, who conveniently won't release any findings until after November elections. It's nice that the rest of the country is now becoming familiar with how things are done in Illinois - that shining beacon of transparent politics and fiscal responsibility.

DON'T GET FOOLED BY THE EXTREMIST REPUBLICAN PARTY AGAIN. PEOPLE
Fox News finally made it official. They are part and parcel of the Republican Party. They are now the largest donors to the Republican Governors Association, having given them $1 million dollars. They also employ three out of the top four Republicans in the Iowa Caucus Poll for GOP presidential candidates.
As is explained here, now that Fox News has come out of the closet, it's hard to distinguish where Fox News ends and the Republican Party begins:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lftVkbbMoBk
They don't just have a perspective, they have an agenda. And they drive that agenda until their political goals are met. So, they don't just do the so-called Ground Zero Mosque story on one or two shows randomly depending on the host's interests. They all do it. Their talk show hosts do the story. Their so-called news anchors do the story. They do it 24-7 until it spreads to the other cable news stations, and then thereby spreads into the whole media.
That's not a coincidence, that's a well thought out strategy. And it works like a charm. So, for example, people are confused as to why the Democrats always seem to get slammed in the summers. That's because Congress is in recess, there is a news void and Fox fills that void with whatever propaganda they have decided will incite fear and loathing at that time. So, last summer it was death panels and Tea Parties. This summer it's the "Ground Zero Mosque."
And next summer it'll be something else, but here are the elements that are guaranteed to be there - a story that is covered non-stop, an incendiary topic that gets people talking, something that either stokes fear and/or hatred and involves a charge based on almost no facts. That's the formula. Watch, come back to this article next August and you will see that's exactly what happened again. The rest of the media is putty in Fox News' hands. So easy to manipulate and control.
This happens year around, too. It's just that the summer is their killing fields because of the dearth of other political stories.

Despite repeated propaganda from the Right Wing Noise Machine and the conservative loving Corporate Media, Pres Obama will easily be relected in 2012. The Repugs, as usual, don't have any decent policy propasals of their own to run on and they don't have a single credible candidate who can come close to beating Obama.
Hmmmm, now, let's see. Who has emerged in the past 12 months as the leader of the GOP to take on Pres Obama in 2012?
Sarah "Quitter Queen" Palin? Nah, she cut and ran from political office in favor of siphoning money her gullible followers don't have, on a book they didn't read, and speeches they can't remember. Michael Steele? Please...don’t make me laugh. Orange John "the economy is an ant" Boehner? No. Chance. Whatsoever.. Mitch "No Neck" McConnell? Nope (see Boehner, John). John McCain? Excuse me...John McWho? Hmm... How about Crazy Glenn Beck? Nope. His ratings are tanking. It seems that even the most gullible of his Wingnuts followers are finally figuring out that his rodeo clown act is nothing more than a non stop sales schtick for himself. Bobby "Gilligan" Jindal, Haley Barbour, Tim Pawlenty? Larry, Curly, Moe? Mike Huckabee? More like Mike Ain't-to-Be. Mitt "Flip Flopper" Romney? Heh, he's about as exciting as watching paint dry.
So for now it looks like proud racist Druggy Rush Limbaugh remains the de facto leader of the Republican party, seeing as no one has "emerged" to steal his mojo. But I'm sure there's a Saint Ronny Reagan lurking out there somewhere (TV Fred Thompson was supposed to be the next "Great Republican Communicator" in '08...unfortunately he kept falling asleep during his own speeches).
Congrats on your 2012 re-election Pres Obama!

Keep in mind the Congress controls the spending and the Democrats have controlled the Congress since the 2006 elections !!!

Before CommonSense,
Funny your chart starts at 1927, back that chart up to 1921 and include the boom years of Harding & Collidge. Also, there have been Dem presidents that have acted economically conservative (JFK's supply-side tax cuts) and GOP presidents that have acted liberal (Nixon's wage & price controls).
Much of that growth came during the Clinton years, mainly caused by the technology/internet boom, but politically, the growth during the Clinton years happened when the GOP took control over Congress and reigned in those $200 billion deficits for as far as the eye could see.
Fact is, when conservative ideas are tried, the economy grows much better than when large gov't and its centralized command and control methods are used.

"Free to watch", you're right, it's curious how the regime-friendly Swamp has blacked out mention of Tom DeLay's acquittal.
The Swamp ran no less than 50 articles on DeLay, most focusing on the charges against him. And on Dec. 20, 2006, the Swamp's Mark Silva proclaimed the DeLay charges one of the top ten stories of the year.
You'd think with all this focus, a Swamp journalist would at least mention that DeLay's been cleared. But as we know, the Swamp isn't about journalism. Instead, it's about attacking conservatives. And writing things that please the Obama regime.

Terry,
You are so right about Harding and Coolidge. Harding ran for the presidency in 1920 on the message of a “Return to Normal”. After the last 2-3 years of Wilson, America very badly needed that.
Coolidge was quite conservative in fiscal affairs and practically everything that he did. I do seem to recall that he had some surpluses in his budgets during his 5 years as president.
Harding gets beat up by Historians because he chased the ladies and because of the Interior Department leasing scandals and of course, he was a Republican. Coolidge gets the bad treatment because he did not have the need to weigh in on everything that had a pulse, like someone we do know, and of course, he was a Republican.
If we had Calvin Coolidge, a Republican, right now, or Warren G. Harding, another Republican, for that matter, we would be light-years better off. This is not likely to be something that democrats of the Jeremiah Wright School of Revisionist History would know very much about.

Forbes had an article on the impact of the Reagan and Bush tax cuts. While the deficits did get larger under Reagan, they began a turnaround and were decreasing each year until the Dems took Congress 4 years ago.
And the deficits aren't entirely (or even mostly) from the war. Check out this article http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Little-known-fact-Obamas-failed-stimulus-program-cost-more-than-the-Iraq-war-101302919.html
Yup, Obama has spent more on the stimulus in 2 years than the Congress approved war cost in 6 years.
Facts are stubborn things.

The R tax cuts caused a slight increase in the deficit, but the gap was closing until the Dems took Congress and spending went crazy.
According to this article, Obama has spent more in 2 years on the Stimulus (which did nothing but enrich his friends) than the Congress-approved war cost in 6 years.

I do know that during the Reagna years, the top tax rate went from 70% to 28%. Tax rate decreases for teh job creators as an incentive to earn the next dollar and therefore expand their business. Gov't revnues increased about 80% during the Reagan years.
Do you have that economic theory that shows raising taxes increases economic activity?
