Republicans are back on top in Gallup's tracking survey of Congressional election preferences, reversing a two-week boomlet for the majority Democrats.

The survey, conducted July 26-August 1, shows that 48 percent of respondents say they would vote for a Republican Congressional candidate this November, while 43 percent would back the Democrat. In the previous week, Democrats led in the generic matchup 48-44 percent.

From Gallup:

To the extent congressional passage of financial regulatory reform on July 15 was the impetus for the Democrats' subsequent gains, the effect has faded. Republicans' resurgence this past week could simply represent a return to the prior norm, but may also have been spurred by the Afghanistan war documents leak, the federal judge's ruling that blocked the implementation of certain aspects of the Arizona immigration law, and perhaps ethics investigations into two powerful senior Democratic members of the House, Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters.

Speaking of Waters, Richard Simon reports on the ethics committee's report detailing alleged rules violations against the Los Angeles Democrat. The combination of Rangel and Waters facing what amount to trials before their peers in the House has given Democrats a new headache when they could ill-afford new distractions.

The Real Clear Politics average of generic ballot polls finds Republicans with their widest advantage to date in the 2010 cycle: 6 points.

New Gallup Poll and Real Clear Politics have Republics opening up their biggest lead of the year over the Democrats in a Generic Vote. Although I usually do not take these polls seriously until after Labor Day but it does indicate the Democrats could be in big time trouble. I still believe the big deciding issue will be the Economy and Jobs, and who gets their vote out. In this election cycle it seems that the Republicans and Independents are madder than the Democrats and may show up to vote in bigger numbers. But in the end it will be the "Economy Stupid" that will decide how badly the Democrats get beat this Fall. Time will tell!

9.5% unemployment along with record deficits, pathetic economic growth, other than this - I wonder how this could have happened?

Don't start measuring for new drapes just yet.

Thank God, for the popularity polls. Nothing like a slow news day!! Oh, that's right, President Obama just announced the troop drawdown in Iraq!! I guess that isn't worth a comment or two!! Thank God for meaningless polls. !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

I hope the Repugs keep beating their chests about this falls elections.

If the Repugs were going to make the monumental gains that they claim they are, they would be consistently leading in these polls by about 20-30% by now, and they're not.

The Repugs will win a few seat this fall, they've lost so many seats the past two elections that it would be almost impossible for them not too. But come 2012 they'll lose those gains again because people will have been reminded exactly why it is that they hated Republicans in the first place.

Don't worry, Democrats. As judged by the comments above, you still have 100% of the "I DON"T KNOW HOW TO TYPE IN LOWER CASE" voters, and 100% of the "I substitute exclamation points for thinking!!!!!!!!" voters.

Rob The Basement Troll is all alone, dancing in the end zone and pouring champagne on himself because the the independents are turning to the Republicans since the Democratic party hasn't delivered.

"Hey" says Rob, "Why is everybody laughing at me?"

Because you're such a putz, Rob.

It's time to start calling Republicans and the Republican base (Teabaggers) what they really are - the Radical Right. They embrace words and actions (2nd Amendment remedies, anyone?) and then they cloak them in the calming meme of being conservative. They're not trying to conserve anything anymore; this is a Republican party and a movement that wants to reduce our free speech rights, wants to increase the role of Christian religion in the governance of our nation and will side with the interests of big money and big business over the interests of the people. It is a radical agenda from top to bottom and letting them try to sell it as alternative and better policy than what the Democratic Party has to offer is a path to electoral and national disaster.

"Ever wondered what "Real America" means? Or how precisely Sarah Palin defines communism and fascism? Look no further. Using misspelled Teabagger placards, from this excellent Flickr gallery, we've compiled the first comprehensive dictionary for this new dialect."

"Here are 24 key words, and their associated misspelled Teabagger placards, that are now charged with the fevered, dog-whistling undertones of Faux News and the new radical right."

Hyperbole Morphing into Reality: America's Looming Revolution?

It’s easy to engage in negative hyperbole in discussing the current president even if that exaggeration sometimes seems unfair.

His policies, his associations, the statutes and regulations he and his swampy congress have pushed through, the now-exposed media conspiracy to grease his way into office and cover up his gaffes and flaws, the national upheaval and divisiveness he has created naturally lend themselves, and him, to occasional, irrational overreaction.

No president has ever won the hearts and minds of 100% of the American people; even George Washington was disparaged by some former Tories. However, from his inauguration and in the campaign leading up to November 4th, 2008 when he so often slipped and tipped his hand as to his true designs on the country, this chief executive escaped general distrust.

At the inauguration he insisted on taking the oath of office using the middle name he never really used; during his run for the presidency he kept preaching but never defined “change” and slipped and admitted what should have been incriminating ideas such as his Saul Alinsky-Marxist plan to “share the wealth.”

The mass media let it all slide, never doing its job, never inquiring and investigating his reasons for suddenly invoking the name Hussein, never asking what specifically he meant by sharing the wealth and just how he would accomplish that redistribution of Americans’ hard-earned money.

The bitter fruits of his socialistic thinking and scheming are daily becoming more and more apparent so is it any surprise that people, many of whom supported and voted for him just 20 months ago, have become so disenchanted, frustrated, and furious with Barack Hussein Obama that their emotions sometimes get the best of them and they hyperbolize their feelings? . . .

Here is the source of Rob's latest plagiarism:
http://antemedius.com/content/republicans-are-not-conservative-they-are-radical-time-call-them
.
He lifted the entire third-from-the-last paragraph from something written by one Bill Egnor. This time Rob cleverly switched just 3 or 4 words. (Well, it's clever by Rob's standard, anyway.)
.
And I have to say, I wish Rob would find better sources from which to steal. Egnor's piece is specious.

The dysfunctional and illegitimate GOP have no credible candidate(s) for 2012.
They have no ideas, no vision, no platform, no plans. Absolutely nothing to offer.

Rob's last Copy&Paste repeats his favorite theme: Republicans are only radicals; they can only be dangerous; they are unfit to hold power. That's an unfounded and just plain silly notion on the face of it. And it's easy to dismiss Rob as a buffoon, the Swamp's resident comic foil, good for a laugh and never to be taken seriously.
.
But we brush Rob's non thinking aside at our own peril. Consider that the logical conclusion of Rob's posit is that political power must be concentrated in the hands of a single party. That's a radical, antidemocratic, anti-American and frightening idea. Consider also that Rob is never at a loss to find sources he can plagiarize for this idea -- there are lots of people who share Rob's one-party dream, and they're smarter than Rob!
.
Be afraid.
.

Sow that fear, Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers! Goose that step, in those jack-boots, boys and girls of the Right!! Your fear and smear tactics lost you the election to President Obama, in 2008, and I think that same stupid strategy will lose the mid-term elections. with all the hate, the T.Baggers bring to the table, not to mention, their entitlement mentality! They will attempt to scare the voters, just like you are trying to do. It didn't work in trying to defeat, then Senator Obama, and we hope that you continue with your failed strategy, of smear and fear and he will remain President Obama for another 4 years!! Why don't you just bring back "Crash " McCain and Failin Palin, for a rerun!!?

The latest USA Today/Gallup Poll has The New Messiah's approval rating at a new low (41%).

Dopey Don and Rob get some of whatever Roger Morris is smoking he is just as dumb as you 2 but at least hes happy

To Rob, Don Fitzgerald, Roger Morris and some of the others who are so blinded by their partisan politics that they do not seem to have a good handle on what is really going on out there, I suggest you look at the June and Second Quarter GDP numbers. Unfortunately they are Not good. Consumer spending has stalled and that threatens the feeble recovery that is currently going on. Factory orders are also off giving evidence that the economy is slowing. Consumer spending in June rose only 1.6% and incomes did not rise at all. In addition to that sales of existing homes fell 2.6% in June. These numbers, except maybe to those that are BLINDED by their partisan loyalty to Obama and the Democrats, are NOT GOOD. The Economy and Jobs are going to be the Big Issues this November. And if they do not show a marked improvement, the Democrats are going to be in Big Time Trouble against a disorganized Republican Party with no new ideas.

Tinkled On Terry - you don't have to "wonder" how it happened; all you have to do is look at the economic policies that were pushed by your friends the RepubliCANTS and conservatives as they lined their pockets and their buddies on Wall Street. But you won't, since you're too cowardly to face reality.

BC,
You have to remember, Terri is not the brightest when it comes to history, economics, mathematics, geography, grammar, spelling, or English.

Before CommonSense,

First, how are coming along on finding those racist remarks? Having about as much luck as OJ did in finding his Nicole's killer.

Second,

Recession was caused by the hosuing bubble bursting. Please tell me the Bush-Cheney law that led to the housing bubble or its bursting. You can have Dimwit Doogie help you.

Are you just another typical flatliner that throws out a statement with no support?

Tinkled On Terry, you tried and failed to regurgitate the race-bating talking point from Fox Network about the "scary black men" of the New Black Panther party "intimidating" voters in Philly.

Are you honestly trying to pretend that NONE of your posts have EVER had name-calling, hate, racism or bigotry in them?
'
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! That's the best laugh I've had in months! Thank you Tinkled On Terry for finally being good for something here in the Swamp!

Before CommonSense,

Where's the racism?

I think that link from Hot Air is worth posting.

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/07/06/video-the-nice-young-man-eric-holder-left-off-the-hook/

You just have to love those Obama supporters.

In addition, the attorney handling the immigration case is the same attorney that defended al Qaeda.

The New Black Panther Party is the racist organization that you are defending

http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=175817

You still lose.

Before CommonSense,

Forgot to mention, nice try on changing the the question from "Are you honestly trying to pretend that NONE of your posts have EVER had name-calling, hate, racism AND bigotry in them?" to
"Are you honestly trying to pretend that NONE of your posts have EVER had name-calling, hate, racism OR bigotry in them?"

The answers are No and Yes. Yes is evidenced by this post Before CommonSense.
