Speaking in Texas, President Obama today continued to ramp up his political rhetoric while also explaining what is seen as a new strategy based on attacking his predecessor -- and the state's former governor -- George W. Bush.
Without naming Bush specifically, Obama said at an Austin fundraiser that he's drawing attention to the previous administration "because the other side isn't offering anything new."
"They are trotting out the exact same ideas that got us into this mess in the first place," he said. "Their big economic plan is to renew the tax cuts that helped to turn the surplus into a deficit ... and once you get past that they don't have another new idea."
Obama accused Republicans of a "fundamental lack of seriousness" in the past year and a half, only politicking while Democrats have been making tough decisions to save the nation's economy. But now, Obama said he was ready to engage in the campaign with them.
"We've got three months to go, so we figure we can politic for three months. They've forgotten I politic pretty good," he said. "I'm happy to have this debate over the next several months about what their vision of the future is, because they don't have one."
The event at the Four Seasons in Austin was expected to raise $1 million for the DNC, $250,000 of which would be invested specifically in Texas, party officials say. Obama did acknowledge some state Democrats who were on hand, but not Bill White, the party's nominee for governor, who was not present.
Obama tonight attends a fundraiser for the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, but that reception is closed to the press. The Republicans' Senate campaign committee, meanwhile, has launched this Web video criticizing the president for what they say has been endless campaigning while the nation still struggles economically.

My god! Is this guy kidding?! "They've forgotten I politic pretty good," Okay, let's see what you are forgetting Obama:
1) You ran against a party that had a guy in control who's popularity went to hell.
2) You ran against a weak presidential candidate.
3) Right now, you a pretty downright unpopular. Check out the polls. Nobody is buying into the Hope & Change BS anymore. They want to see some results. The Economy is still suffering after thowing a Trillion at it.

Any idiot can destroy industries and the economy as bozo and his congressional socialists have done. If they were doing such a good job, they would be pointing to the results. Instead it is more whining and blaming someone else for the man-child's failures.
You politic real good mr. president, keep up the good work you started in NJ and VA. Keep reminding the voters that a vote for a dem is a vote to get screwed, a vote to bail out corrupt state governments, a vote to take from the productive and give to the lazy. Remind us again how Blago was your hand picked guy and Alexi the mob banker is needed to support your bankrupt policies.

Obama keeps repeating the rhetoric about "8 years of policies that got us into this mess." He rarely says what those policies are/were. Today, he mentioned tax cuts and deficits. I think a fair criticism of the Bush Administration is their abysmal record on deficits. But was that the cause of the financial meltdown and resultant recession? As opposed to the collapse of the sub-prime securities market? If the tax cuts were/are the primary cause of the recession, why wasn't that the first thing Obama rolled back when he had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate back in January of 2009? And if deficits are/were the catalyst of the recession, first, I would like him to connect the dots on that and explain how federal deficits led to private banking failures, and second, if deficits are indeed the main cause of the recession, how can he justify running trillion dollar deficits under his own Administration?
*
Maybe if I were a journalist, I could ask him these questions. No. I forgot. He doesn't answer questions from journalists. Maybe if I were on “The View”, after asking him about his IPod, I could slip in a real question to see if there is any substance beneath his talking points. But I know already there is not. He knows that tax cuts and deficits were not the proximate cause of the financial meltdown or recession, or else he would have made them his primary focus, which he clearly has not. BO is just spewing hollow rhetoric. He is giving buzz phrases like "8 years of policy" that his sheep can easily memorize and repeat, without really understanding. The only thing that is changing is that less and less people are falling for it.

He politics pretty good, but his governing sucks.
The Bush tax cuts did not turn surpluses into deficits. The 2001 recession did that - no economic growth, reduced gov't revenues. Add on top of that in 2001, the terrorism attacks and the additional costs of the war on terror and Homeland Security.
The Bush tax cuts grew the economy and those deficits started getting smaller in 2005 and were down to $162 billion in 2007 until the democratic housing bubble burst.

Predictions: Hillary, Biden, and Children under the Auspices of the United Nations
Making predictions is a cinch job and making long-term predictions is even cinchier. Like weather predictions, the predicter can always figure his audience will forget that he said, “Cloudy with an 80% chance of rain” and we end up getting a foot deep blizzard or he can always say the snow “developed out of nowhere.”
Likewise with socio-political-economic prognostications, there the prognosticator always has the out that “unforeseen circumstances” developed that made his predictions 100% inaccurate and/or hope that people forget what he said in the first place.
With that as preface, a few very plausible predictions:
Hillary Clinton for Vice President? Washington scuttlebutt of the day is that the Secretary of State may be offered the Democrat Party’s VP slot in 2012 after Foot-in-Mouth Joe Biden gracefully bows out. The theory is that Mrs. Clinton would boost the president’s sagging hopes for re-election. It’s even being suggested that the two switch jobs and that Biden goes to State after Clinton is elected: http://tiny.cc/ae6oi
Gasp!
As comical as Old Joe can be, his gaffes are usually forgiveable since the vice presidency isn’t “worth a bucket of warm spit” or “warm piss,” as John Nance Garner actually said. As Secretary of State, Biden’s inanities would be taken seriously!
PREDICTION: No way on God’s green Earth . . .

Politics. We don't want more politics. We want truth and honesty. Benedict Arnold Schwarzenegger won a unprecedented recall election over Gray Davis with this qoute:
"From the time they get up in the morning and flush the toilet, they're taxed. Then they go and get the cup of coffee, they're taxed....This goes on all day long. Tax, tax, tax."
Benedict Arnold's poll numbers are NOW lower than Gray Davis' ever were because Benedict lied. He was pretty good at politics. Now CA is, and has been, billions of dollars in the hole, because Benedict Arnold did not deliver. He caved in to unions, and the liberals democrats. He is now a big hunk of liberal goo that nobody wants, WITH AN APPROVAL RATING OF 19% on a good day. That's what the left coast thinks of middle of the road Republicans.
If you can't make it here, you can't make it anywhere. Moderates are losers; ask John McCain.

Bloomberg Business had a great chart - it showed tax cuts vs. national debt. The Bush tax cuts put tax revenue below expenditures for the first 6 year of his presidency - by year 6 the difference was very small and it appeared that the lines would cross.
Then the Dems took office and the spending skyrocketed. Had that not happened, the gov't would be back in black for annual budgets, although we'd still be paying down the debt.
What's the budget look like for this year? Oh that's right - politicking doesn't include actually putting together a budget!! That's right, we're operating without a budget right now, and a complete disregard for the Dem's own "pay-go" rules.

And, now the Dems will be seeking upwards of another $1.7 TRILLION to bail out Fannie and Freddie. And, of course, in the so-called financial overhaul bill recently passed, there is no overhaul of Fannie and Freddie.
This is why Democrats should not have the keys to the car nor the keys to the house!!

I guess even obama doesn't believe his promises of change. I thought obama supporters wanted to change,
stop the bipartisianship, stop the empty rhetoric blah blah blah. They've passed very harmful, job killing bills that they call accomplishments, dumping more and more debt on the children of this country.
obama's voter base is minorities, illegals and the welfare entitlement crowd. Thank god November is coming - let's hope we have change for the better this time. Last time seems to be just a change of color, with added corruption, more secrecy, less tranparency, increased incompetence and dishonesty, increased bipartisianship.

Uggggh, I don't think I've seen "retard," but I have seen "libtard." Big difference. "Retard" is not a nice word and shouldn't be used because with a disability shouldn't be fun or. However, with "libtard" it generally is the fault of the liberal.

I'm not copping to the moniker "right-wing." Right-wing better describes big government Democrats and Republicans who love to regulate and micromanage everything at the cost of individual liberty. That’s you, not me.
.
Having said so, I think it’s perfectly fine to use the terms “retard” and “tard.” As I have already explained once on this board, those terms do not necessarily refer to the mentally handicapped. The words simply mean “slow,” “hindered,” or “late coming” (c.f. “tardy,” and Fr.: Je suis en retard! = I’m late!) For example, to say the ignition timing on an auto engine is “retarded” means that fuel ignition occurs later than specified by the manufacturer. It says nothing of that car’s ability to do math or make macaroni pictures. Similarly, to “retard” music is to make it move at a slower tempo. It doesn’t handicap the music. Thus, to call a mentally handicapped person retarded (i.e. “slow”) is actually a euphemism, as it avoids describing the source of his or her “slowness.”
.
If the words “tard” and “retard” have invariably come to mean something offensive, it is due to poor English teaching and even poorer learning. But if you care to be offended by mere words, and words that are misunderstood at that, then go ahead. I can’t stop you. (And then guess whose ignorance is awesome now?)
.
This discussion does, however, underscore a problem in this country with people who seek to strangle language in pursuit of some political agendum. Designating words that are PC or not PC based on their undesirability is no different than the thought and word control described in Orwell’s 1984. A language expresses more than ideas. It expresses cultural values and world views. Hence, forcing people to refrain from using words, or forcing them to use other words in lieu of those in the current lexicon, forces them not only to change the way they think, but to change the way they view the world and their place in it. Thought control is not conducive to liberty. And just imagine: You thought you were a liberal.

Economy goes into recession in March, 2001, EnRon debacle explodes in Sep, 2001, and then 9-11. Bush Tax cuts keep the recession short and shallow. Allows economy to grow and the revenues come back from 2004-07 and defcits shrink until the current recession caused by the democratic housing bubble bursting.
I've forgotten more about economics than you will ever know.

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10
years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?
Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 15 months – so you'll have two years and nine months to come up with an answer.

Donnie
I knew you wouldn't or more likely, couldn't understand any of it let alone admit your worthless leader ever did any of it. I expect nothing less from a phoney wave flagging liberal.
By the way, people like you, you know the phoney patriots, are an embarrassment to our troops.

Lost in Space,
I would add would you approve if George Bush made these remarks and statements: My bowling is like the Special Olympics.
Saying that his Grandma is a typical white person. Does it really matter...
The cops acted stupidly, let's have a beer.
I could never denounce Reverend Wright; I never heard him say anything like that; I did hear him say those things; He doesn't speak for me. Reverend Wright is a radical.
Doctors will hack off your leg or pull out your kid's tonsils, just to make a few more bucks.
Spread the wealth is not socialism.
We are not a Christian nation; we are a Major Muslim nation.
It's ALL George Bush's fault. (I know George Bush couldn't blame himself.) Play along. Let's say George blamed Clinton for 9/11. Well, it makes sense, since Obama still blames his predecessor at the same time frame.
Don't blame others, take personal responsibility...it's all Bill Clinton's fault.
The economy is in the ditch; it's all Bill Clinton's Fault....(note, George Bush never said this and the economy was expanding.)
Sherry Sherrod is a racist. She's fired. No, she's not a racist. It's Fox News fault.

Gawd. Why don't you two just run away together? It makes perfect sense. "Free" is sickly desperate for John's approval and John (modern day Elmer Gantry) struts around like some sort of wacky evangelist who in a weird way, seems to enjoy the fact that his only convert's nose is buried so deep it's a browner shade of pale. So go ahead. Make it legal.

" Watching Summer....", you seem to be on to something there, "Free to watch..." a 1/2 a brain cell working and the wannabe Scott Turow, a writer of legal fiction, seem to have something going on, up close and personal. I think it has to do the Republican-Libertatrian-T.Baggers' agenda. They are trying to concoct a scheme, as to how they can package it, where it still doesn't have the Bush&Cheney stink? I don't think it is possible, but I'll give them credit for trying! It is almost as herculean in nature, as Hercules' labor of cleaning out the Augean stables, in one day. In that labor, Hercules had to suffer the stink, also. So, gentlemen, get your heads together, noses plugged, fire-up that 1 working brain cell between the two of you and try as you might, to apologize, and justify, for the buffoonery of the Cheney&Bush administrations. That is, without trying, absurdly, to use President Obama's 18-19 months in Office, as indicators that President Obama is doing worse, than the Bush&Cheney administrations did in 8 years. That would indeed be " good " fiction writing!! Bring it on !!

PFUTZ,
BO's best month of unemployment is worse than President Bush's worse month. And do we need to discuss how much BO has added to the national debt in 19 months.
