There's no place like home for President Obama, especially on his birthday.

Air Force One will take the president back to the Windy City tomorrow afternoon, where he plans to celebrate his 49th birthday at a dinner with friends, press secretary Robert Gibbs revealed today.

"I think he is looking forward to spending the night in his house for a change," Gibbs added.

He'll be home alone (well, as alone as someone with a full Secret Service detail can be). As Katherine Skiba reported this weekend, first lady Michelle Obama will be across the Atlantic with daughter Sasha this week on a trip to Spain. Obama's eldest daughter, Malia, is at camp.

"I think it's safe to say that, of course, he will miss them," Gibbs said. "They'll be all back together soon."

Obama remains in Chicago Thursday, where he'll continue an effort to highlight the resurgent auto industry during an appearance at an area Ford plant. He also attends three fundraisers, including one to benefit Senate hopeful Alexi Giannoulias, running to keep Obama's former seat in Democratic hands.

Last year, Obama marked his first birthday as president mostly in private, though he did make a cameo in the press briefing room to honor Helen Thomas, who shares a birthday with him.

Skiba also noted that the first lady last year arranged for her husband's friends to visit Camp David the previous weekend.

Organizing for America, meanwhile, is using the milestone for a big grassroots push to promote the president's agenda. The DNC says that volunteers across the country will make 49 phone calls "to recruit volunteers and ask them to help engage their communities and make their voices heard this November." It's part of the VOTE 2010 campaign that seeks to turn out first-time Obama voters from 2008.

Rob, can you write 'Happy Birthday' yourself, or will you have to copy and paste that?

Cue the Swamp Troll's ("just sayin'", "Equal time", "Libtard" etc etc) anti Obama sock-puppets, in:

5...4...3...2...1..Ding Ding Ding!

Nice photo of Obama and the racist Helen Thomas.
I see Major Garret in the 2nd row in that photo. Guess what Rob, he's in the front row now! Maybe Obama will have a press conference again one of these days where he actually answers some questions again. As far as his birthday goes. Happy Birthday BO, but sorry the American people can't afford to get you a present this year.

Happy Birthday, President Obama. May this be another of the 8 birthdays you will enjoy in our White House. If you have a few more great years, like you had in your first 18 months, you're a shoe-in !! The obstructionist Republican-Libertarian-T.Baggers, only offer, hate and divisiveness, two civic vices our nation can do without!!
Happy birthday, Mr. President and keep up, the good work.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

conservativeclown,
I actually like it! Having Faux "News" in the front row will make it easier for Gibbs and the real journalists in the room to ignore Faux's Major Fail. Just keep looking towards the back of the room.

This is about as newsworthy as Lindsay Lohen getting out of jail. Just the kind of story the troll twins, Don and Rob love.

Oh Donnie, this nation can't afford to have Obimbo in office for eight years. We'll be lucky to survive the four years.

And, hmmmm, Ford took no money from Obimbo. Its success is totally do to itself, so how is Obimbo going to try to take credit? Course, he is trying to take credit for the successes in Iraq, which, of course is the direct result of the surge that Obimbo was against.
I wonder if Obimbo will try to credit himself for the White Sox's successes these past few weeks, especially winning 18 of 20 at ComiNsky Field???

Do you know what would be a great b-day present for BO while he is in town?

A guilty verdict for his old friend Blago.

That would be fitting for the Democrat-Socialist-Rearendrammer

Lil Johnny Quackingduck,

Iraq never should have happened, period, end of story. It was a made up war so that your Repug heroes (Bush & Cheney) could help their Military Industrial Complex pals (Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater etc) get rich(er) by giving them multi-billion dollar gov't contrats. Iraq is NEVER going to be "going well" because idiot Shrub Jr never should have invaded Iraq in the first place.

And Pres Obama saved the American auto industry (Ford cae along for the ride) in the face of (more) Repug obstruction, you clown. Your beloved tax cuts for the rich Repugs wanted to do away with ALL AMERICAN auto manufacturing, and outsource it to China and Germany....just like they do with everything.

And since when do you get to decide who is and isn't a White Sox fan, Lil Johnny? How very right wing fascist of you...

Oh Rube, it's so fun to see you meltdown under the strain of reality.
Ford came along for the ride? What a crock of Loony Lefty BS!!! Ford didn't need the help and because they didn't take government money, the masses flocked even more to Ford.
Anyway, us conservatives didn't want GM or Chrysler to fail, we wanted to file for bankruptcy and then renegotiate the bad labor contracts. You see, Rube, they still have the bad contracts and will ultimately suffer for it in the end.

Regardless of whether one believes should have happened or not, the fact remains it is a succes because of George Bush. Even the lame Chicago Tribune had an editorial touting the success that is Iraq. Iraq is a big picture item that is far too difficult for your amoeba-sized brain to understand.
Just go back to your cutting and pasting from loony left websites. It is much easier for that amoeba-sized brain of yours to handle.

Rob, can you write 'Happy Birthday' yourself, or will you have to copy and paste that?

Thanks for the laugh!

Should we send Obama a beer for "acting stupid." Ice cream is out, it's a summer of meltdown. How about some oil? A Bust of Winston Churchill? A collection of our favorite DVDs? Oh, I know. A little figure of a president that bows down to Kings.

Yes, you did.

The guy deserves a laid back birthday after all he’s faced to deal with. Like him or not, there is no denying that the world wouldn’t be a better place if we treated everyone like it is their Birthday every day. I think Mikey MiGo had the best idea when he made…

Wow, congrats Rob, I can see you actually wrote that one all yourself. You get an A for effort and an F for grammar, spelling and composition.
.
You probably don't know the answers, but I'll ask anyway: what exactly does 'Ford cae (sic) along for the ride' mean? They took no Federal $ and they're doing well. So can you explain your cryptic statement?
.
Also, who is saying who may or may not be a Sox fan?
.

BO, home alone? Is Vera Baker available?

Here's some hypcrocy for BO's b-day:

Dem Congressman Nadler wants to have different IRS Tax Rate Tables depending on where you live in the country. In other words, someone making $100K in taxable income in NYC pays less tax than someone making $1900K in taxable income in Topeka, KS.

In other words the dems are saying, we need to raise income taxes except for those people on large metropolitan areas who just happen to vote democratic.

Tinkled On Terry, it's obvious that you have no concept of the difference in the cost of living in New York City compared to Topeka, Kansas. Things like groceries, gasoline, insurance, etc. all cost much more in New York City. thus, someone earning $100K in NYC has higher expenses than a person living in Topeka.

BrainCramped, it is obvious you have no clue about economics, fairness, intelligence, common sense.
But then, what new?
After all, you are the same nitwit who thinks Cuba's northwest coast doesn't border the Gulf of Mexico!!!

Dam thats an ugly pic

I wonder if Rob and Don Fitzgerald were invited to attend President Obama's birthday party at the home of Democratic fundraiser Neil Bluhm? It only costs $30,400 per person to attend. Now that is a President of the average American. Rob and Don will have to tell us how the party was.

Before CommonSense,

No kidding that cost of living is different in the two cities. The person in NYC also gets higher compensation for doing the same work in NYC as does he would in Topeka.

A major reason why the cost of living is higher in NYC as compared to Topeka has to do with higher state and local taxes, union work rules, and heavy business regulation. These items drive up the cost of goods and services. Why should the citizens of the heartland be penalized for the wastefulness of the urban cities.

Also, those higher taxes and higher interest rates from mortgages give the person in NYC larger tax deductions so the urban dweller gets a larger tax deduction.

Get a refund on any tuition money you may have spent.

Depot Jim,

Somebody has to bus the tables.

T, you should check out the recent article on Blagojevich in the New Yorker....

Points out that Obama was never a "pal" of Blago and in fact distanced himself from Blago early on.

Axelrod also declined to do work for Blago....

After the famous Keynote address at the July 2004 Dem Convention in Boston, the New Yorker says, Blago became very jealous of Obama......

Proof of pudding: even knowing Obama would be President, Blago spurned the candidates Obama was thought to favor.....

[Not a smart move, for someone who might be making a pardon application some day.....]
