After a tough news day, the White House ends Tuesday on a high note as appointed Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet (D) has won the hotly-contested primary over former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff (D).
President Obama, his administration and the DNC had worked hard to ensure Bennet prevailed, ramping up the Organizing for America (OFA) operation on his behalf. Obama appeared at three fundraisers for Bennet in February, and called into a tele-town hall with him just last week. OFA hosted 83 canvasses, phone banks and events to woo Colorado Democrats ahead of today's vote.
Former President Bill Clinton had endorsed Romanoff, a supporter of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.
As of 10:30 pm Eastern, Bennet's GOP opponent was not yet known. Weld County DA Ken Buck (R) had a narrow lead over former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton (R), with a third of the state's precincts still yet to report. Buck enjoys support from the tea party movement while Norton had backing from Republicans' national campaign arm.
Elsewhere, former WWE CEO Linda McMahon has prevailed in the Connecticut GOP primary for U.S. Senate, and will face Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. McMahon received just under half of the vote in a three-way race.
In the Democratic primary for governor there, 2006 Senate nominee Ned Lamont came up short against Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy. Our partners at the Hartford Courant have more on today's races in the Nutmeg State.
Georgia's Republican gubernatorial contest could be headed to double overtime. In the runoff election, former Rep. Nathan Deal narrowly leads former Secretary of State Karen Handel. If the margin of victory is less than 1 percent, the loser has two business days to request a recount. This race featured potential 2012 presidential hopefuls offering dueling endorsements; Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney backed Handel, while Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich backed Deal.
Minnesotans also were voting in primary elections Tuesday. The main contest there was the Democratic gubernatorial primary, with state House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher and former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton the lead contenders.

The real HHH was at Linda McMahon's victory celebration. Not that phoney HHH that used to hang around here at the Swamp that is now known as Rob. Hope she makes it to the senate and lays some Smackdown on the Obama agenda!

Having watched Senator Bennet, D-CO, in action on the Senate floor, for the last year or two, I was very pleased to see him victorious in his electoral primary battle with Mr. Romanoff. He will represent Colorado well, if elected to a full term. I was especially happy to see that the Colorado voters listened to President Obama and, at least, considered what he had to say, concerning Senator Bennet. I wish Senator Bennet good luck, in the fall elections!!

Duhhh, she'll put the Democrats in a figure four. Duhhh.
Hey Linda, quick question. How much did you know about every wrestler in the wwe/wwf being on steroids? I mean, there are multiple accounts of former wrestlers completely flipping out. If you can't take care of the welfare of your employees, how can you handle the welfare of your constituents?
Bigger joke than Palin. Let's just hope the joke is not on the American public.
