It would seem quite the turnabout.

When President Obama came to Wisconsin just weeks ago, Sen. Russ Feingold (D) expressed no hesitation about appearing with his party leader.

"I'm pleased to stand with this president anytime and anywhere and defend what we've done and what we're doing," he told reporters August 16.

Fast forward to this headline in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "Feingold to miss Obama Labor Day visit."

Feingold is one of a handful of veteran Democratic senators suddenly finding themselves in tough races as voters nationwide, even in blue states, sour on the record of Obama and his party. But Feingold's campaign explains in a new statement why he won't be joining the president at Monday's "Labor Fest" in Milwaukee.

From George Aldrich, Feingold campaign manager:

Like Wisconsinites in many areas of our state, families in Senator Feingold's hometown of Janesville are suffering in this economy, and many of these people are people Senator Feingold grew up with.

Senator Feingold is going to honor his commitment to participate in the traditional Labor Day parade in his hometown of Janesville-a town whose working people have been hard hit by this economy.

Senator Feingold will attend the same Milwaukee Labor Day event earlier in the day that President Obama will be attending. We asked if there was any way the President could shift the time of his appearance so Senator Feingold could appear with him. We understand it is not possible on this visit.

Senator Feingold was with the President in Wisconsin 3 weeks ago and looks forward to appearing with the President when he comes to Wisconsin again."

The rats are fleeing the ship!

Reminds me of those guys fiddling while the Titanic sunk in the movie. Maybe after Feingold loses he can say to Obama "It's been an honor serving with you" as he sinks in to the shadows of a taxpayer paid pension. I guess when you are a Democrat, voter polls don't mean anything in your world.

"Senator Feingold ... looks forward to appearing with the President when he comes to Wisconsin again."

LOL!

BTW, you can reach the senator at 1-800-PANTSONFIRE.

:)

Well, everybody wants to avoid BO.

Senator Feingold deserves to be returned to our Senate. He is a champion of our Constitution and an independent thinker. I don't always agree with Senator Russ Feingold's positions, just as I don't always agree with President Obama's decisions, but I do know they arrive at their positions, through serious, principled thought. Both persons are good for America. Vote to retain Senator Russ Feingold.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Free to Watch, to that, I would have to add b.o. as well as BO.

Somewhere in there may be some "good", but I could not begin to tell ya what that would be. That information is unavailable to the mortal man ~ P.S.

Russ should figure out which ambassador's position he would like to fill.

I believe the job to the wonderful destination of Outer Mongolia is available.

Local or National...R's or D's.....
It doesn't seem to matter---In most cases, we're given a choice....

Between The Crips & The Bloods

Only Senator Feingold voted against the Patriot act because he read it.

Voted against the bailout of the banks, because to big to fail was not an option.

Voted for the middle class and the people of Wisconsin 100% of the time.

I think that John D. and the rest of right wing nuts that sit in Mitch McConnell's duck blind and take pot shots at any article that appears in the swamp that factually reports on anything that they perceive might be favorable to the Dems need to apply to the RNC for the funds needed to create their own blog. Then they can create their own inane articles and not pollute these pages with what they think is humor. Oh wait, I forgot, the RNC doesn't have much money left. Maybe someone who gets their sense of humor could contribute.

It is surprising that Liberal Democratic Senator Russ Feingold, who sometimes shows an independent streak in him, is struggling in his reelection bid. If Senator Feingold is running away from President Obama it must mean that the Democrats are in real big time trouble in Wisconsin.

It reminds me of the guys fiddling while the Titanic sank in the film. Maybe after losing Feingold, Obama could say, was an honor to serve with him as he sinks into the shade of a taxpayer paying pensions.
