Spinning this month's jobs report, President Obama announced he would detail a package of new measures aimed at stimulating the economy next week.
"We are confident we are moving in the right direction but we want to keep this recovery moving stronger and accelerate the job growth that is need so desperately all across the country," he said.
But a staple of Republican reaction to the stream of economic indicators in the past month has been to lampoon the administration for what they had advertised as "Recovery Summer."
"President Obama's agenda represented 'change' once, but now it is time for him to change course, abandon his job-killing policies, and find himself a new economic team," House Minority Leader John Boehner said in a statement this morning.
"President Obama's 'Recovery Summer' has ended right where it began, with Americans continuing to lose their jobs and unable to find new ones," RNC chair Michael Steele added.
In a rare move, Obama took questions after delivering his Rose Garden statement. One reporter asked if he regretted the "Recovery Summer" mantra.
"I don't regret the notion that we are moving forward, but because of the steps that we've taken," he said.

Come on, you, professionals at Swamp!! You can slant that headline with more mischaracterization, than that!! One would think you were ardent supporters of President Obama, but Corporate Media has fiddle while America has sank, under the incompetence of Bush&Cheney and not a peep!! Keep on doing the best work you can, President Obama!! Maybe next week the Trib will give us a detailed report about the obstructionism in our Senate!! Don't hold your breath, though. They'll probably start re-focusing our attention on Public Enemy #100, former Governor Blagojevich!! You know, that terrible guy, with the big talk, who thinks he is no small potato. He, who did gave our seniors in Illinois, a perk, to ride public transportation for free or at a reduced rate. What a generous and big hearted country, the richest nation in the world, or one of them and there are those who begrudge them, that perk!! Only in America, land of the fee and home to the knave!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Unfortunately for the country we have Not had a "Recovery Summer." The Unemployment picture and Job Market continue to get worse, and the economy is in a very feeble recovery, if we are really in a recovery at all. President Obama spent most of his time forcing through Congress a Socialized Health Program that most of America did not want, and completely ignored the Economy and the Bad job market. Things are bad out there ad the Democrats will be punished for this in the November Elections.

Good luck with that Johnny.
Stubborn Obama is going to veto anything you try to do while he's still sitting in that chair. Obama is in his own static warp bubble and it's collapsing (Star Trek reference for those of you who don't understand).
Reality is going to come crashing down on him if he does not alter his course as Boehner suggested.

This blithering moron hasn't a clue. The next job that should be lost because of his policies is his own. He and his entire shaministration needs to resign pronto!

The right direction - if that direction is towards larger deficits, higher taxes, higher unemployment, lower GDP, etc... - then BO and his band of Rearendrammer dimiwts have hit a bullseye. Once again, the chart says it all.

Does anyone, even Barack Obama, take the notion of "Recovery Summer" seriously?
How out of touch is he????

That is the direction Obama wants. Never waste a crisis.

I'm not sure why the Democrats are so scared of filibuster. If you want to pass the "small business loan" then get some mattresses out. What happened to the good old days- when people weren't afraid of filibusters? If the Democrats aren't fighting for the their constituents, then why should they vote for them? We want to see more backbones. . .!

From today's headlines:
1) UNEMPLOYMENT JUMPS TO 9.6%...
2) Economy LOST 283,000 jobs during 'Recovery Summer' months...
3) NPR: 'Recovery Summer' Ends With Economic Pothole...
4) 120 Days to Go Until Largest Tax Hikes in History...
5) President Claims Job Creation; Doesn't Mention Net Job Loss of 54K...
How's that "Recovery Summer" working out, guys?

The Suburban View
Many rely on catch phrases here to set a political tone. One you often hear involves being liberal on social issues and conservative on financial ones. When pressed most suburban people have no liberaal social issue. To gather the fact that liberal on social issues involves sleeping with whoever you wantt whenever they wantt belies there beliefs for there children. Obama would be wise to note those trends,

Your are all mistaken...recovery summer was really meant to mean, "recovering" the White House garden. The watermelons and arugula are now being watered twice a day and are recovering from the neglect they received when everybody went on long summer vacations.
It's a shame he has no regrets about recovery summer...but then again, if you can't tend to your garden, how can you tend to your country.

Summers, Geithner, Rubin. Essentially creatures of Wall Street. That's their mindset and where their loyalty lies.
Now, according to some accounts, Wall Street is trying to sabotage Obama, blackmail him to forestall tax increases.
Well, duh. Why am I not surprised?
If Bush had fired Rumsfeld before, rather than after, the Nov. 2006 election, he might have fared better.
Maybe the economic team , Wall St. contingent, needs to walk the plank.

Maybe Barry should put his crack pipe down for a while. If he did he would see that the unemployment rate is still climbing. But crack pipe Barry and his merry band of tax avoiders maintain that there is a recovery summer. He is VERY good at running from the truth. Just as he is good at keeping his college transcripts sealed. How is the change working for the increasing number of unemployed.

Just look at this picture. There is Christina Romer, Mustapha Mond, Larry Summers, Tim Geithner. MIT, Harvard 2x, Dartmouth. Clueless. How is that possible? How do you spend $160,000+, n 2010$, times four for an Ivy League education and have not a clue.
“Hopefully”, on November 2nd. voters will rip the plug on this perverted experiment perpetrated by these Elitist Ivy League novices.

This just in.
President gave a smashing speech in Milwaukee this afternoon.
The "drive the car into the ditch, then want the keys again" metaphor was extended to its outer limits.
He seemed more energized than any time since about 1 year ago, when he went on the health care offensive.
And the crowd loved it.
That passage in today's speech--the car in the ditch metaphor--that part is worthy of its own stand-alone commercial.
Like Gov. Brewer's 14 sec. meltdown--though in a different way, of course.
Pitch perfect Labor Day address.

Ornery, I hate to point this out to you, but Obama is the chief saboteur.
His administration does the blackmailing, the lying, the back rooms deals. Everything that Obama promised about transparency, honesty, blah, blah, blah, is a joke, as is this president.
His response to failed spending of Trillions, what else? more spending.

Ornery,
Mishima Time again. You see Wall Street Gurus protecting the interest of Wall Street. I see Ivy League Elitists that, for whatever reason, are so totally stuck on bad Marxist flavored ideology that will never work.
It kills democrats to admit that there are situations where a capital gains tax cut or an investment tax credit would achieve a desirable result. So, they (democrats) don’t.
Tim Kaine, ex-governor of Va and chairman of the dnc, was squirming like hell (on Fox of course) over the democrats’ slippery position on (income) tax cuts for whatever their current thinking is on what is / what is not the magical number that defines “rich”. democrats can never divorce themselves from class warfare ~ bad Marxist Ideology, in the midst of everything else that is not working for them. Mishima.

Ornery,
Dj, again. I like the Car In The Ditch metaphor too. It resonates with my finely developed sense of humor. However, it is applied / misapplied to the wrong party.
The democrats are the ones with absolutely no driving skills. They understand so little with respect to Economics. They don’t understand Economics 101 - Macro Economics, the goods and services that a nation produces and the equilibrium of supply and demand. They don’t understand Economics 102 – Markets, Interest rates and Tax Policy. They don’t understand Economics 201 – Micro Economics, the economics of individuals, the practical and emotional decisions that individuals have to make on a daily basis. They don’t understand Economics 202 – Money and Banking.
Wealth Re-distribution is covered in Econ 102, but even there you have to work your way through Econ 201 to get the complete story. democrats see something that they like in Econ 102 and never go any further. It is democrats that need to be relieved of the keys.
If the American electorate does not force-retire some of these democrats in November, they will still be blaming Bush in 2015 for all the good(?) that would accomplish. That would hardly be progress.

DJ, the same people that gave the keys back to Teddy, really aren't the ones to be suggesting who should drive, now are they? They just want to be the ones in control, distributing the fruits of production.
"Here's an apple for you, don't forget who gave it to you when it comes time to vote, or you won't get any more..."
I agree with your assessment of the liberals failure to pass or comprehend econ. Reason why, they changed majors after econ 101 to Liberal Arts.

Yeah, Free to Watch, Mustapha keeps talking about cars being driven into ditches. I think of ‘Thelma and Louise’ and I think of a certain Buick being driven into a definite body of water on Martha’s Vineyard, July 1969. TK is the paragon of bad driving and bad judgment. That image does come to mind.
I know that Americans like new, shiny stuff, but what these democrats have perpetrated is a Rube Goldberg kind of thing, wired up in an eclectic combination of reverse polarity and long wiring runs, operating, sort of, on d.c. power. Failure is guaranteed but picking the spot is more or less a fine exercise in egalitarianism.
‘Thelma and Louise’ did have interesting characters and good dialogue, but this is just a bad movie in search of a bad ending.
