Busted.

That must be how the 142 Illinois residents who may have paid an Internet-based diploma mill for 'proof' they graduated from high school or college must feel.

Their names were found on a list, released earlier this week by the Spokane Spokesman Review, that was compiled after an eight-month investigation by Washington State into an international forgery operation. The organization, which produced more than 9,000 degrees, earned $6 million between 1999 to 2005, the Washington Post reports.

The millers have already been convicted and are awaiting jail sentences. Meanwhile, the federal government will be reviewing the list and investigating any employees who appear.
